Electronic searches investigating the residents (≥60 years old), their families, and the LTCF workforce in Brazil were conducted in Medline, EMBASE, LILACS, and Google Scholar, within the timescale of 1999 to 2018, limited to English, Portuguese, or Spanish. The reference lists were hand searched for additional papers. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used for critical appraisal of evidence. Data were reported descriptively considering the study design, using content analysis 327 studies were included (n = 159 quantitative non-randomized, n = 82 quantitative descriptive, n = 67 qualitative, n = 11 mixed methods, n = 6 randomized controlled trials, and n = 2 translation of assessment tools). Regardless of the study design, most were conducted in a single LTCF (45.8%), in urban locations (84.3%), and in non-profit settings (38.7%). However, the tolerance strategy mechanisms of this plant at root level have not yet been investigated. The current research aimed at elucidating the morphological, physiological and biochemical changes occurring at root level in H. maritimum and in the salt sensitive cultivar Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Lamsi during five-weeks extended salinity (200 mM NaCl), salt removal after two weeks of salinity and non-salt control. H. maritimum since the first phases of salinity was able to compartmentalize higher amounts of sodium in the roots compared to the other cultivar, avoiding transferring it to shoot and impairing photosynthetic metabolism. This allowed the roots of wild plants to receive recent photosynthates from leaves, gaining from them energy and carbon skeletons to compartmentalize toxic ions in the vacuoles, synthesize and accumulate organic osmolytes, control ion and water homeostasis and re-establish the ability of root to grow. H. vulgare was also able to accumulate compatible osmolytes but only in the first weeks of salinity, while soon after the roots stopped up taking potassium and growing. In the last week of salinity stress, the wild species further increased the root to shoot ratio to enhance the root retention of toxic ions and consequently delaying the damages both to shoot and root. This delay of few weeks in showing the symptoms of stress may be pivotal for enabling the survival of the wild species when soil salinity is transient and not permanent.This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a flipped learning contact model and a flipped learning "untact" model with Korean nursing students undergoing a clinical practicum, and to examine the factors of self-directed learning readiness and self-esteem considering these learning models. The participants included 85 students. Participants were randomly allocated to two models. This study measured self-directed learning readiness, self-esteem, learner motivation, professor-student and clinical instructor-student interactions, confidence in performing core skills, participating in online activities, clinical practice stress, and the friendliness of the two models. Participants' characteristics were analyzed using frequencies and percentages, and between-group differences regarding characteristics were analyzed using the χ2 test, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA with a Scheffe test. This study conducted independent t-tests for comparison of the between-group adjusted mean difference of the pretest and posttest scores. The influence of the dependent variables on self-directed learning readiness and self-esteem was measured using a stepwise multiple regression method. Among the two models in the practicum, the flipped-mastery contact model (FMCM) showed higher self-directed learning (SDL) readiness and professor-student interaction than those of the flipped-mastery untact model (FMUM) after the clinical practicum was completed. The three influencing factors of SDL readiness were FMCM, learner motivation, and ward friendliness, with an explanatory power of 31.6% (F = 13.96, p less then 0.001).
