Wearable Fall Detection
Whether you are looking for an at home, on-the-go or smartphone alert system, fall detection is a feature that many medical alert companies include in their plans.
There are many different types of wearable fall detection devices. Some are pendants, some are bracelets and some are smart watches with fall detection technology built into them.
The most common device is a pendant that hangs around your neck or is attached to a waist band with a lanyard. This type of device has sensors that detect your fall and send a notification to your medical alert company's emergency monitoring center.
However, the most accurate and reliable devices are those that place sensors on the trunk, foot or leg. These sensors can measure your weight, limb proportions and gait (how you move) to determine when you're most likely to fall.
Personal medical alarms These technologies can also be used as part of a fall risk assessment to help diagnose whether you are at risk for falling and may need additional assistance. They are also useful in assessing the effectiveness of medication, physical exercise or other interventions to prevent falls and improve your safety.
