This study explores the challenges clinical teachers face when first using a prospective entrustment-supervision (ES) scale in a curriculum based on Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). A prospective ES scale has the purpose to estimate at which level of supervision a student will be ready to perform an activity in subsequent encounters.

We studied the transition to prospective assessment of medical students in clerkships via semi-structured interviews with twelve purposefully sampled clinical teachers, shortly after the introduction of a new undergraduate EPA-based curriculum and EPA-based assessment employing a prospective ES scale.

While some clinical teachers showed a correct interpretation, rating strategies also appeared to be affected by the target supervision level for completion of the clerkship. Instructions to estimate readiness for a supervision level in the future were not always understood. Further, teachers' interpretation of the scale anchors relied heavily on the phrasing.

Prospective assessment asks clinical teachers to make an extra inference step in their judgement process from reporting observed performance to estimating future level of supervision. This requires a change in mindset when coming from a retrospective, performance-oriented assessment method, i.e., reporting what was observed. The women in this study who experienced a sexual assault and reported the assault to police were hopeful that police would help them and justice would be served. Instead, these women were faced with insensitivity, blaming questions, lack of investigation, and lack of follow-up from the police, all of which contributed to not being believed by the institutions designed to protect them. The findings from this research demonstrate that police officers must gain a deeper understanding of trauma and sensitive communication with survivors of sexual assault.The review presents some renewed data on the problem of optimal time and modes of delivery for women with various types of diabetes mellitus (DM 1 and 2, gestational diabetes). The objective of our study was to explore the possible graphene impact on microorganism growth as well as on laboratory animal overall condition.

The experiments applied samples of graphene three concentrations and two 15 × 15 mm quartz glasses one of which carrying deposited graphene lattice. We have also used 5% blood agar, thioglycollate broth, bacterial suspensions of standard turbidity containing pure clinical isolate of microorganisms. Three white male 6-month-old laboratory rats were used to estimate the graphene impact on the overall animal condition.

Graphene did not contain any microorganisms, does not destroy erythrocytes placed within the artificial nutritional medium, graphene lattice did not add any properties to the quartz glasses which could allow the Proteus spread all over its surface. It was also established that graphene did not show any native antibacterial impact. No significant reaction was noticed in animals after graphene administration to laboratory rats neither at the injection spot nor at the overall level.

To evaluate serum concentration of 8-isoprostane, nitrotyrosine (NT), and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in pregnant women with diabetes mellitus (DM) considering preconception planning and method of diabetes correction in 11-14 and 30-34 weeks.

The study included 130 women T1DM (n = 40), T2DM (n = 35), gestational diabetes (GDM, n = 40) and the control group (n = 15). The serum concentrations of NT, 8-isoprostane, and TAC were measured by ELISA methods.

Elevated 8-isoprostane levels were observed in all patients with DM, but this biomarker's maximum values have been seen in T1DM and T2DM on insulin groups. A similar tendency was observed for the concentration of NT in both the 1st and 3rd trimesters. TAC levels showed a statistically relevant decrease in all DM groups compared to the control. The correlation analysis showed a direct correlation between HbA1c and serum 8-isoprostane levels in the 1st (r = .27) and 3rd (r = .3) pregnancy trimesters as well as inverse correlation with TAC level (r = -.48).
