RESULTS Twenty-five studies reported on selected psychometric properties of 15 identified instruments. The methodological quality of the studies was overall adequate. The psychometric properties of the instruments were generally indeterminate or not reported due to incomplete or missing psychometric data; high-quality evidence on the psychometric properties was limited. CONCLUSIONS No instruments could be recommended as most suitable for use in clinic and research. Nine instruments were identified as promising based on current psychometric data but would need further psychometric evidence for them to be recommended.An outbreak of inclusion body hepatitis caused by fowl adenovirus serotype 8 (FAdV-8) has caused significant economic losses in the poultry industry worldwide. However, a rapid serology test kit specific to FAdV-8 is not available to date. We developed a fiber-based ELISA using the purified GST-fiber of FAdV-8 as coating antigen to measure antibodies against FAdV-8. Specificity analysis showed that our ELISA could react with sera against FAdV-7, -8a, and -8b, but not with sera against the other pathogens tested. Moreover, detection of positive sera with our ELISA had 83% and 94% agreement with an indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and a commercial ELISA from BioChek, respectively. Our ELISA was also effective in the detection of antibodies against FAdV-8 in sera from both experimentally infected and clinically vaccinated chickens. Our FAdV-8 fiber-based ELISA can be a valuable tool to specifically and sensitively detect antibodies against FAdV-7 and/or -8 in infected or vaccinated chickens.The significant role of the community in the lives of children and youth at-risk has become increasingly clear to social work academics and professionals over the last three decades. Alongside the more traditional individual and family responses, community interventions have been designed to catalyze change in the environment of children and youth at-risk and supply holistic and sustainable responses to their needs. Ten such community intervention programs were identified from the United States, Australia, Canada, and Israel. The diverse programs reviewed focused both on at-risk children and youth in general or specifically on child abuse and neglect. The majority were funded originally by private foundations; however, government involvement was significant, particularly in the adoption and support of initiatives after their development. The current analysis of the programs refers to core issues that arose from the review professional orientation, main target unit, main initiator, and research and evaluation. Analysis of program characteristics enables identifying relevant aspects of these programs for use by policy, governmental, and nonprofit sector stakeholders seeking to develop similar programs. Conclusions and recommendations to advance the field are suggested considering the current context of government cuts in welfare funds.PURPOSE Vertical and slanted mouse-models have been developed to reduce forearm pronation. Discomfort, performance and stresses have been analyzed with these mice in previous studies but not the learning during familiarization phase. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighteen females performed repeated pointing-clicking tasks with a standard mouse used as a reference followed by a slanted mouse and a vertical mouse in a randomized order. The duration of each task was measured. For each participant-mouse combination, changes in duration upon repeating the task were analyzed using a statistical model including a log-linear slope followed by a plateau. We consider that when the plateau is reached, the participant is familiar with the task. RESULTS For both the slanted mouse and the vertical mouse, the plateau is reached after about 30 repetitions of the task. The duration of the plateau was similar for these two mouse-models. For the vertical mouse only, the slope increased significantly when used second versus when used first. CONCLUSION Learning speed appeared slower with the vertical mouse than with the slanted mouse. In light of these findings and those of previous studies, decision makers and employees should consider the slanted mouse rather than the vertical mouse.Previous research has shown that taking a test facilitates memory retention on later retesting, although facilitation is stronger when retesting is delayed. On the basis of the finding that testing prevents later forgetting without affecting memory recovery, we investigated immediate effects of taking a test on retrievability of a tested item. In two experiments, forty participants recalled studied items, then performed a retest of the studied items (test condition) and a non-episodic-memory task (distractor condition), and immediately afterward re-recalled the items. The test condition elicited more item losses (i.e. forgetting) than the distractor condition, whereas there were no condition differences in the number of item gains (i.e. remembering) and recall clustering. These results suggest that taking a test on a target item facilitates forgetting of the very same item for a short interval of time, a possible reason for the late appearance of the testing effect.The objective of the study was to improve tetracycline degradation efficiency by Trichosporon mycotoxinivorans XPY-10 using statistical experimental designs. Different culture conditions (FeSO4, pH and glucose) were optimized for tetracycline biodegradation and the mutual interactions between these three variables were analysed using Box-Behnken design (BBD) and response surface methodology (RSM). The results showed that the empirical model was suitable for experimental data, and the maximum tetracycline degradation efficiency by XPY-10 was 95.18% under the optimum conditions of 0.02% of FeSO4, pH 7.83 and 0.28% of glucose, which was further verified by experiments. This study indicated the excellent ability of XPY-10 in degrading tetracycline and theoretical support for the follow-up practice to remediate tetracycline contaminated environment.
