History of bladder tumor (HR, 1.98; P = 0.005), tumor multifocality (HR, 3.80; P < 0.001) and residence in a BEN-endemic area (HR, 1.81; P = 0.01) were independently associated with bladder cancer recurrence. The 5-year bladder cancer RFS for the patients from areas of BEN was 77.8 % and for the patients from non-BEN areas was 64.7 %. The 5-year CSS for the men was 66.2% when compared to 66.6% for the women (P = 0.55).

To quantify the gap between radiology and other specialties regarding the amount of literature on healthcare disparities (HCD).

Four different searches were conducted to evaluate the amount of literature on HCD in radiology as compared to internal medicine and surgery. Initially, the Journal Citation Report was utilized to search for the five highest ranking journals in each field and a second search used impact factor. A combination of search terms "health" AND "disparities" was used. Two additional searches were performed with PubMed using the terms "health" AND "disparities AND "radiology" with the final term changed for each specialty. The second PubMed search added the term "medical education" for each specialty. Articles were limited to years 2017 to 2020.

The initial search found 1817 articles discussing "health" and "disparities". 14.6% of these were radiology, 65.7% internal medicine, and 19.7% surgery. The subsequent search controlling for impact factor found 2176 articles. 12.2% were for radiology, 66.1% were for internal medicine, and 21.7% for surgery. The initial PubMed search found 6543 articles. 9.9% were for radiology, 32.4% for internal medicine, and 57.7% were for surgery. The addition of "medical education" decreased the articles to 807. Radiology had 9.9%, internal medicine was 44.2%, and surgery was 45.9 %.

A gap in HCD literature exists for radiology as compared to surgery and internal medicine. However, radiology has demonstrated a recent significant push towards understanding HCD. Radiology should continue to capitalize on its momentum and develop HCD curricula and research.

Radiology should continue to capitalize on its momentum and develop HCD curricula and research.The aim of the study was to test a novel planning method for simultaneous midfoot and hindfoot deformity correction, based on reference lines and angles (RLA) of the talus, calcaneus and first metatarsal in 64 normal radiographs from 55 patients. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the surgical procedures using arthrography for the cartilaginous structures of the MTP joint in postaxial polydactyly of the foot. We performed arthrography in 7 feet of 7 patients with postaxial polydactyly of the foot in which duplication of the proximal phalanx was observed at the fifth MTP joint on the basis of radiographic evaluation. The average age at surgery was 13.5 months and average duration of postsurgical follow-up was 36 months. Individual surgical procedures were confirmed or modified during the operation by reference to the arthrographic findings. Radiographic and arthrographic findings were assessed in relation to the findings from direct observation of the cartilaginous structures at surgery. Postoperative malalignment, functional disturbance and pain in the reconstructed toe were evaluated. The arthrographic findings provided different forms of cartilaginous structures that could be categorized in 4 types, and reflected the cartilaginous connection visualized at surgery that could not be detected on radiographs in each case. No cases revealed any deformities, functional disturbance, or pain in the reconstructed toe after surgery. The parents' evaluation in each case was "very satisfied" or "satisfied." The arthrographic findings provided additional information regarding variations in the cartilaginous structures of the fifth MTP joint and for determining individual surgical procedure for postaxial polydactyly of the foot.While the vast majority of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARIs) are viral, between a quarter and a third of adults presenting with ARIs are given an antibiotic, making antibiotic prescribing for ARIs a major contributor to the inappropriate prescribing problem. We argue that inappropriate prescribing persists because of the interplay between physicians and patients in the medical visit. Relying on a convenience sample of 68 video recordings of primary care medical visits drawn from corpora collected in 2003-2004 and 2015-2016 in the US, we show that although few patients are "demanding" or "requesting" antibiotics, many convey subtle forms of pressure through priming physicians for a bacterial diagnosis in their problem presentations; nudging towards a bacterial diagnosis during information gathering; and resisting non-antibiotic recommendations during the counseling phase. We find that patient priming, nudging, and resisting are effective strategies to influence clinical prescribing behavior. However, we also identify two ways that physicians can counter patient pressure by working to manage patient expectations through foreshadowing a non-antibiotic outcome and using persuasion when confronted with resistance.
