Radiotheranostics has attracted attention as a powerful strategy for treating cancer patients with precision medicine. We designed and synthesized a novel DOTA-based trifunctional agent, ADIBO-DOTADG-ALB (ADA), which allowed compounds with targeting ligands, radiometals, and an albumin binder to be readily prepared. ADA exhibited promising properties as a theranostic platform.Self-assembly of photo-responsive molecules is a robust technology for reversibly tuning the properties of functional materials. Herein, we probed the crucial role of surface-adsorbate interactions on the adsorption geometry of stilbene-functionalized N-heterocyclic carbenes (stilbene-NHCs) monolayers and its impact on surface potential. Stilbene-NHCs on Au film accumulated in a vertical orientation that enabled high photoisomerization efficiency and reversible changes in surface potential. Strong metal-adsorbate interactions led to flat-lying adsorption geometry of stilbene-NHCs on Pt film, which quenched the photo-isomerization influence on surface potential. It is identified that photo-induced response can be optimized by positioning the photo-active group in proximity to weakly-interacting surfaces. The novelty and global scale of the COVID-19 pandemic has lead to rapid societal changes in a short span of time. As government policy and health measures shift, public perceptions and concerns also change, an evolution documented within discourse on social media. We propose a dynamic content-specific LDA topic modeling technique that can help to identify different domains of COVID-specific discourse that can be used to track societal shifts in concerns or views. Our experiments show that these model-derived topics are more coherent than standard LDA topics, and also provide new features that are more helpful in prediction of COVID-19 related outcomes including mobility and unemployment rate.

Erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2) testing is used to measure the status of ERBB2 gene expression and DNA amplification. Test results have been reported with a discrepancy as high as 20%. The purpose of this study was to improve ERBB2 fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) sensitivity by evaluating results generated by median as well as mean calculations.

We retrospectively identified breast cancer cases at our institution in which ERBB2 FISH testing was performed in-house from June 2018 to May 2020. FISH results were classified using the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology/College of American Pathologists guidelines groups 1 and 5 are FISH positive and negative, respectively, and groups 2-4 are equivocal requiring additional work-up. FISH counting sheets were collected and regrouped by median ERBB2 copy number counts and median ERBB2/CEP17 ratio and compared with the mean ERBB2 and mean ERBB2/CEP17 ratio. Intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity and CEP17 copy number gain (CEP17 ≥3) were assessdentification of CEP17 copy number gain. Further clinical studies are necessary to examine the outcome of including median in calculating ERBB2/CEP17 values.

Including the median calculation may increase ERBB2 sensitivity and identification of CEP17 copy number gain. This account aims to partially fill this gap by presenting the methodology and implementation of teaching by Dr. Mona Minkara, a blind bioengineering professor, as well as the tangible outcomes of this approach. We discuss the efforts taken by Dr. Minkara and a team of access assistants to develop accessible methods for teaching a largely visual course, including the use of assistive technologies, such as alternative text, braille, and text-to-speech software. Outside perspectives from teaching assistants, access assistants, and students are also discussed. Student feedback was collected in an end-of-term survey and analyzed to obtain quantitative and qualitative data. Evidenced by student feedback on their experience, we demonstrate that Dr. Minkara's visual impairment altered student perceptions about blindness in education and led to a more interactive and engaging learning environment for her students. This evidence also shows that students were overwhelmingly in support of more blind educators in STEM. We present this account and share our developing toolbox to demonstrate that a career in higher education can (and should) be accessible if given the right modifications. Efforts aimed at broadening the participation of blind and visually impaired individuals in STEM education can continue to alter student perceptions and lead to enhanced learning environments, as well as encourage instructors to increase the accessibility of their own teaching.

Emergency physicians confront important ethical issues when providing care for these patients. This article examines those ethical issues and recommends best practices in emergency care for UIs. After a brief introduction and description of the UI population, the article proposes central principles of emergency medical ethics as a framework for emergency physician decisions and actions. It then considers the role of law and public policy in health care for UIs, including the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and current practices of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. The article concludes with discussion of the scope of emergency physician practice and with recommendations regarding best practices in ED care for UIs.
