Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) is a novel cancer biomarker. This study evaluates the prognostic role of HE4 in determining the survival of endometrial cancer patients.
Literature search was conducted in electronic databases (Embase, Ovid, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science). Simvastatin Studies were selected if they reported the relationship between HE4 and the survival of endometrial cancer patients. Random-effects meta-analyses were performed to achieve estimates of baseline serum HE4 levels, the 5-year survival with high and low serum HE4 levels/expression, and the hazard ratios (HRs) of the survival between patients with high and low serum HE4 levels.
9 studies (1404 patients; age 63.1 years [95% confidence interval (CI) 61.2, 64.9]; follow-up 35.9 months [95% CI 32.2, 39.6]) were included. In these patients, serum HE4 levels were 83.36 picomole/liter (pM) [95% CI 70.15, 96.56] overall but these were higher in patients with recurrence (108.13 pM [95% CI 63.09, 153.18] and lower in patients with no recurrence (67.88 pM [95% CI 65.09, 70.67]). The 5-year overall survival rate was higher in patients with low HE4 levels/expression (86% [95% CI 79, 92] but lower in patients with high HE4 levels/expression (63% [95% CI 58, 68]. A pooled HR of survival between patients with high and low serum HE4 levels of 2.25 [95% CI 1.56, 2.94] indicated shorter survival in patients with high serum HE4 levels.

This study evaluated the functional effects of severe mental health symptoms on speed of academic performance to assist clinicians and educators in determining whether extra time accommodations are evidence-based for students with such diagnoses.
Using archival data from 1476 post-secondary students, we examined the performance of students with existing mental health diagnoses who were also reporting extremely high levels of symptoms. Their performance on timed academic achievement and cognitive processing measures was compared with performance of students with learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and clinical controls. Students failing stand-alone performance validity and/or symptom validity measures were excluded from this investigation.

Although the landmark INT-0116 trial and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines recommended pT3-4Nx gastric cancer (GC) patients to receive chemoradiotherapy, the role of radiotherapy has not been distinguished from chemoradiotherapy.
GC with behavior of metastasis-indolent in lymph node (MILN) being confirmed with more than 15 examined LNs after gastrectomy were identified using the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Result (SEER) database. The cancer-specific survival (CSS) of subgroups for radiotherapy, chemotherapy, chemoradiotherapy and non-adjuvant-treatment were compared. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed between radiotherapy and non-radiotherapy subgroups to further distinguish the role of radiotherapy from chemoradiotherapy. Robust rhythmicity of circadian clock and steroidogenic genes were identified in LCs. The aim of this study was to examine whether ZEA significantly attenuated the transcription of core clock genes (Bmal1, Dbp, Per2, and Nr1d1) as well as steroidogenic genes (StAR, Hsd3b2, and Cyp11a1) in mouse testis Leydig cell line (TM3). Western blotting confirmed declines in BMAL1, NR1D1, and StAR protein levels. ZEA also suppressed secreted testosterone levels. In primary LCs, isolated from PER2LUCIFERASE reporter gene knock in mice, ZEA diminished the amplitude of PER2LUC expression, and induced a phase shift and period extension. In primary LCs, ZEA also suppressed the expression levels of core clock and steroidogenic genes, reduced protein levels of BMAL1, and decreased testosterone secretion. In vivo expression of core clock and steroidogenic genes were reduced in testes of mice exposed to ZEA for 1 week leading to decreased serum testosterone levels.
