The objetive of these study is to know the characteristics of COVID-19 in patients with uveitis associated with Systemic Autoimmune Disease (SAD) through telematic survey.

Internal Medicine Society and Group of Systemic Autoimmune disease conducted a telematic survey of patients with SAD to learn about the characteristics of COVID-19 in this population.

A total of 2,789 patients answered the survey, of which 28 had a diagnosis of uveitis associated with SAE. The majority (82%) were female and caucasian (82%), with a mean age of 48 years. The most frequent SAEs were Behçet's disease followed by sarcoidosis and systemic lupus erythematosus. 46% of the patients were receiving corticosteroid treatment at a mean prednisone dose of 11mg/day. Regarding infection, 14 (50%) patients reported symptoms compatible with SARS-CoV-2 infection. RT-PCR was performed on the nasopharyngeal smear in two patients and in one of them (4%) it was positive.

The stalagmite-like deposits are not a very common tomographic sign of a posterior uveitis process, but they seem to correlate with inflammatory activity. There does not seem to be a clear mechanism or a particular aetiology.

Elderly patients with COVID-19 has a worse clinical evolution, being more susceptible to develop serious manifestations. The differences between the elderly and very elderly population, mortality and associated prognostic factors of SARS-CoV-2 infection have not been enough studied yet.

An observational study of 416 elderly patients admitted consecutively to Hospital General Universitario de Ciudad Real for COVID-19 respiratory infection from March 1st to April 30th, 2020. Data were collected including patient demographic information, medical history, clinical characteristics, laboratory data, therapeutic interventions and clinical outcomes during the hospitalization and after discharge, until June 15, 2020 with the aim of analyzing mortality, and associated prognostic factors.

The mean age was 84.43±5.74 years old; elderly patients (75-84 years) were 50.2% of the sample and very elderly (≥85 years) the remaining 49.8%. In Cox regression model, mortality rate was higher in very elderly group (HR = 2.58; 95% CI 1.23-5.38; P = .01), hypertensive (HR = 3, 45; 95% CI 1.13-10.5; P = .03) and chronic kidney disease patients (HR = 3.86; 95% CI 1.3-11.43; P = .02). In contrast, calcium antagonists (HR = 0.27; 95% CI 0.12-0.62; P = .002) and anticoagulant therapy during hospitalization (HR = 0.26; 95% CI 0.08 0, 83; P = .02) were associated with a longer time free of mortality.

Intratumoral Tregs have some phenotypic and functional traits that lower the efficiency of antitumor immune response, which makes them a good target for immunotherapy. Several approaches to cancer immunotherapy are being developed along this vector deletion of tumor-infiltrating Tregs, inhibition of their homing to the tumor microenvironment, and functional downregulation of Tregs. Studies of the past decade have demonstrated the role of Tregs and ectonucleotidases CD39 and CD73 in the generation of immunosuppressive extracellular adenosine. Pharmacological targeting of CD39 and CD73 can restrain the activity of suppressor cells and promote the efficiency of cancer therapy. Here we review the latest data on issues regarding the role of extracellular adenosine and its receptors in antitumor immune response, adenosine generation mechanisms involving Tregs and the membrane proteins CD39 and CD73. Innovative approaches to antitumor immunotherapy and clinical studies of Treg targeting and application of anti-CD39/CD73 antibodies, adenosine receptor antagonists, and small-molecule inhibitors of ectonucleotidase activity are explored.

Patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs) are at increased risk for pneumococcal infections and should be vaccinated against Streptococcus pneumoniae. Data on the rates of pneumococcal vaccination among patients with ARDs in Southern Europe are scarce. Here, we estimate the pneumococcal vaccination rate in patients living in Greece with ARDs, explore the patients' awareness regarding vaccination, and try to recognize factors that influence the vaccine uptake.

Between October 2015 and September 2016, a structured questionnaire was provided to all consecutive patients with ARDs attending one outpatient clinic of our department.
