With the rapid growth of sensor networks and the enormous, fast-growing volumes of data collected from these sensors, there is a question relating to the way it will be used, and not only collected and analyzed. The data from these sensors are traditionally used for controlling and influencing the states and processes. Standard controllers are available and successfully implemented. However, with the data-driven era we are facing nowadays, there is an opportunity to use controllers, which can include much information, elusive for common controllers. Our goal is to propose a design of an intelligent controller-a conventional controller, but with a non-conventional method of designing its parameters using approaches of artificial intelligence combining fuzzy and genetics methods. Intelligent adaptation of parameters of the control system is performed using data from the sensors measured in the controlled process. All parts designed are based on non-conventional methods and are verified by simulations. The identification of the system's parameters is based on parameter optimization by means of its difference equation using genetic algorithms. The continuous monitoring of the quality control process and the design of the controller parameters are conducted using a fuzzy expert system of the Mamdani type, or the Takagi-Sugeno type. The concept of the intelligent control system is open and easily expandable.During the coronavirus-19 disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the basic strategy that is recommended to reduce the spread of the disease is to practice proper hand hygiene and personal protective behaviors, but among adolescents, low adherence is common. The present study aimed to assess the gender-dependent hand hygiene and personal protective behaviors in a national sample of Polish adolescents. The Polish Adolescents' COVID-19 Experience (PLACE-19) Study was conducted in a group of 2323 secondary school students (814 males, 1509 females). Schools were chosen based on the random quota sampling procedure. The participants were surveyed to assess their knowledge and beliefs associated with hand hygiene and personal protection, as well as their actual behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of respondents gave proper answers when asked about their knowledge. However, females displayed a higher level of knowledge (p less then 0.05). Most of the respondents declared not leaving home, handwashing, using andwashing in circumstances associated with socializing, being exposed to contact with other people and health (p less then 0.05), and declared always including the recommended steps in their handwashing procedure (p less then 0.05). The results showed that female secondary school students exhibited a higher level of knowledge on hand hygiene and personal protection, as well as better behaviors, compared to males. However, irrespective of gender, some false beliefs and improper behaviors were observed, which suggests that education is necessary, especially in the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.Vitamin D is well known for its important roles in maintaining calcium homeostasis and bone mineralization via the regulation of calcium mobilization and renal reabsorption, and the intestinal absorption of both calcium and phosphorus [...].Glucoraphasatin (GRH) is a specific aliphatic glucosinolate (GSL) that is only abundant in radish (Raphanus sativus L.). The gene expression regulating GRH biosynthesis in radish is still poorly understood. We employed a total of 59 radish accessions to analyze GSL profiles and showed that GRH was specific and predominant among the aliphatic GSLs in radish roots. We selected five accessions roots with high, moderate and low GSL biosynthesis, respectively, to conduct a comparative transcriptome analysis and the qRT-PCR of the biosynthesis genes for aliphatic GSLs. In this study, among all the accessions tested, roots with the accession RA157-74 had a high GRH content and showed a significant expression of the aliphatic GSL biosynthesis genes. We defined the genes involved in the GRH biosynthesis process and found that they were regulated by a transcription factor (RSG00789) at the MYB29 locus in radish roots. We found 13 aliphatic GSL biosynthesis genes regulated by the RSG00789 gene in the GRH biosynthesis pathway.(1) Background Distal aneurysms of cerebellar arteries are very rare. The authors report their case series of distal aneurysms of the cerebellar arteries solved successfully by microsurgery or by endovascular treatment (Table 1) (2) Materials and Methods Between January 2010 and March 2020, 346 aneurysms were treated in our institution. Eleven aneurysms in seven patients were located on distal cerebellar arteries and, in three patients, the aneurysms were combined with arteriovenous malformations. There were four women and three men, ranging from 50 to 72 years of age. Five patients presented with different grades of subarachnoid hemorrhage or intraventricular bleeding, and two patients were diagnosed because of headache. Aneurysm location was the posterior inferior cerebellar artery in six cases, the superior cerebellar artery in three cases, and the anterior inferior cerebellar artery in 2 cases. read more One patient had three aneurysms, and two patients had two aneurysms. (3) Results Nine aneurysms were treated by microsurgery trapping or clipping and, in two patients, the associated arteriovenous malformation (AVM) was resected. Two aneurysms were treated by endovascular coiling, and one associated AVM was successfully embolized. Clinical follow-up was a mean of 11.5 months (range, 3-45 months). (4) Conclusion The authors present their experience with the treatment of 11 peripheral aneurysms on distal branches of the cerebellar circulation in seven patients which were excluded from circulation by microsurgery or endovascular treatment. In three patients, the associated AVM was treated (two with microsurgery, one with embolization).Body composition (BC) parameters are associated with cardiometabolic diseases in children; however, the importance of BC parameters for predicting pediatric hypertension is inconclusive. This cross-sectional study aimed to compare the difference in predictive values of BC parameters and conventional anthropometric measures for pediatric hypertension in school-aged children. A total of 340 children (177 girls and 163 boys) with a mean age of 8.8 ± 1.7 years and mean body mass index (BMI) z-score of 0.50 ± 1.24 were enrolled (102 hypertensive children and 238 normotensive children). Significantly higher values of anthropometric measures (BMI, BMI z-score, BMI percentile, waist-to-height ratio) and BC parameters (body-fat percentage, muscle weight, fat mass, fat-free mass) were observed among the hypertensive subgroup compared to their normotensive counterparts. A prediction model combining fat mass ≥ 3.65 kg and fat-free mass ≥ 34.65 kg (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve = 0.688; sensitivity = 66.
