To establish an understanding of healthcare professionals' dementia knowledge and attitudes towards dementia care, and family carers' perceptions of dementia care in China.

Healthcare professionals and family carers of people with dementia deliver most of the dementia care in China. However, little research on healthcare professionals' dementia knowledge and attitudes towards dementia care, and family carers' dementia care perceptions has been conducted in China.

An integrative review was conducted and reported based on the PRISMA guidelines and Whittemore and Knafl's framework. Eight English databases were searched without date restriction CINAHL Plus with Full Text, MEDLINE, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, PsycINFO and Scopus; and three Chinese databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chongqing Weipu and Wanfang, plus a manual search of reference lists.

Thirty-eight primary research papers were included in the review. Three themes were identified from the synthesis (a) knreduce stigma are needed.

Nurses, and particularly community nurses, are well-positioned to support family carers in China. However, healthcare professionals in China are not prepared for this. Therefore, education and training on dementia care should be integrated into medical and nursing undergraduate programmes and provided for healthcare professionals after commencing employment, and strategies to reduce stigma are needed.Serum calcium (Ca), bone biomarkers, and radiological imaging do not allow accurate evaluation of bone mineral balance (BMB), a key determinant of bone mineral density (BMD) and fracture risk. Tosedostat inhibitor We studied naturally occurring stable (non-radioactive) Ca isotopes in different body pools as a potential biomarker of BMB. 42 Ca and 44 Ca are absorbed from our diet and sequestered into different body compartments following kinetic principles of isotope fractionation; isotopically light 42 Ca is preferentially incorporated into bone, whereas heavier 44 Ca preferentially remains in blood and is excreted in urine and feces. Their ratio (δ44/42 Ca) in serum and urine increases during bone formation and decreases with bone resorption. In 117 healthy participants, we measured Ca isotopes, biomarkers, and BMD by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and tibial peripheral quantitative CT (pQCT). 44 Ca and 42 Ca were measured by multi-collector ionization-coupled plasma mass-spectrometry in serum, urine, and feces. The relag Ca isotope ratios in different body compartments may provide a novel, non-invasive method of assessing bone mineralization. Defining an accurate biomarker of BMB could form the basis of future studies investigating Ca dynamics in disease states and the impact of treatments that affect bone homeostasis. © 2020 The Authors. Patients with MIBC still have high tumor recurrence and progression rates after surgery. Bioinformatics analysis of stromal infiltration-related genes in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of MIBC patients was performed in this study to determine the major stromal cells types and biomarkers for their progression and poor prognosis. The ESTIMATE algorithm was applied to evaluate the stromal score and immune score of samples from MIBC patients in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and found that stromal score was closely related to the clinical characteristics of the patients. The Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) further revealed that stromal cells were involved in biological processes such as activation of leukocytes and positive regulation of cell migration during MIBC progression, as well as PI3K-Akt, MAPK, and Rap1 signaling pathways. Five hub genes related to prognosis, including ACTA2, COL5A1, DCN, LUM, and PRRX1 were identified by the Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA), Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI), survival analysis, and Oncomine, Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database validation. Besides, we identified five stromal cell types associated with overall survival time, among which chondrocytes and fibroblasts were identified as the major stromal cell types through correlation analysis. Finally, the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve and immunohistochemistry were used to verify the diagnostic value and expression of hub genes in different invasive tumors. In summary, we investigated the biological behavior of stromal cells in the TME of MIBC to promote tumor progression obtained hub genes associated with progression and poor prognosis and identified the main stromal cells types in the TME.

Left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) is common following myocardial infarction (MI). Pharmacological management of secondary prevention is known to be sub-optimal. Integration of pharmacists into clinical teams improves prescribing and quantitative outcomes. Few data have been published on patient views of pharmacist input. We aimed to explore patient experiences of attending a dedicated pharmacist independent prescriber (PIP)-led clinic.

Semi-structured face-to-face interviews. Participants were aged ≥18years with new incident MI and echocardiographically confirmed LVSD. Patients were recruited from three pharmacist-led clinics at point of clinic discharge. Interviews were transcribed verbatim. Thematic analysis was undertaken.

Twelve patients were recruited, median age 67.5years and ten male. Six core themes were identified multidisciplinary working; satisfaction; confidence in the pharmacist; comparative care; prescribing behaviours; and monitoring. Pharmacist clinics complemented other established post-MI services, and participants perceived benefits obtained through effective inter-professional working. Participants welcomed dedicated appointment time, the opportunity to ask questions and address problems. Pharmacist explanations of condition and medicines, prescribing at the point of care and monitoring were beneficial and reduced patient stress.

This study demonstrates that a PIP-led post-MI LVSD clinic delivers a positive initial patient experience. More research is needed to understand the longer-term patient experiences, the impact of such models on medication taking behaviours and the experiences of carers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
