Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still developing worldwide. The prognosis of the disease will become worse and mortality will be even higher when it is combined with cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, COVID-19 is highly infectious and requires strict isolation measures. For acute coronary syndromes (ACS), a common cardiovascular disease, infection may aggravate the occurrence and development of ACS, making the management of more difficult. It will be an enormous challenge for clinical practice to deal with ACS in this setting of COVID-19.Aim to reduce the mortality of ACS patients during the epidemic of COVID-19 by standardizing procedures as much as possible.Pubmed and other relevant databases were searched to retrieve articles on COVID-19 and articles on ACS management strategies during previous influenza epidemics. The data was described and synthesized to summarize the diagnosis and management strategy of ACS, the preparation of catheter laboratory, and the protection of the medical staff in th to avoid nosocomial infection.

There is evidence that DNA methylation play major roles in lung cancer. In our previously study, C3 or f21 , also referred to as XXYLT1, rs2131877 polymorphism is associated with a reduced risk of lung adenocarcinoma. So, we explored the role of XXYLT1 methylation in lung adenocarcinoma.

This study was conducted in 2 steps. In the first step, we recruited 15 patients with lung adenocarcinoma. Cancer tissues and para-carcinoma tissues were obtained from each of the patients. In the second step, 150 patients with lung adenocarcinom were enrolled, and cancer and normal lung tissue were obtained from each patients, respectively. The expression levels of XXYLT1 mRNA were determined, the deoxyribonucleic acid methylation status was analyzed by MassARRAY Spectrometry. The methylation data of individual units were generated by EpiTyper v1.0.5 software.

The XXYLT1 mRNA expression was significantly lower in cancer tissues than in para-carcinoma and normal lung tissues. Meanwhile, the methylation rates of three CpG units (CpG_23, CpG_25, and CpG_60.61.62.63.64.65) within the XXYLT1 gene were higher in cancer tissues compared to the para-carcinoma and the normal lung tissues. This difference was particularly significant in male patients.

Our results suggested that methylation of XXYLT1 may have significance in the pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma.

Early enteral nutrition (EN) promotes the recovery of critically ill patients, but the initiation time for EN in neonates after cardiac surgery remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effect of initiation time of EN after cardiac surgery in neonates with complex congenital heart disease (CHD).Neonates with complex CHD admitted to the CICU from January 2015 to December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. ABTL-0812 mouse Patients were divided into the 24-hour Group (initiated at 24 hours after surgery in 2015) (n = 32) and 6-hour Group (initiated at 6 hours after surgery in 2016 and 2017) (n = 66). Data on the postoperative feeding intolerance, nutrition-related laboratory tests (albumin, prealbumin, retinol binding protein), and clinical outcomes (including duration of mechanical ventilation, CICU stay, and postoperative hospital stay) were collected. The incidence of feeding intolerance was 56.3% in 24-hour Group and 39.4%, respectively (P = .116). As compared to 24-hour Group, prealbumin and retinol binding pros after surgery in 2016 and 2017) (n = 66). As compared to 24-hour Group, prealbumin and retinol binding protein levels were higher (160.7 ± 64.3 vs 135.2 ± 28.9 mg/L, P = .043 for prealbumin; 30.7 ± 17.7 vs 23.0 ± 14.1 g/L P = .054 for retinol-binding protein). The duration of CICU stay (9.4 ± 4.5 vs 13.3 ± 10.4 day, P = .049) and hospital stay (11.6 ± 3.0 vs 15.8 ± 10.3 day, P = .028) were shorter in 6-hour Group.Early EN improves nutritional status and clinical outcomes in neonates with complex CHD undergoing cardiac surgery, without significant feeding intolerance.

Motor-evoked potential (MEP) monitoring is an essential monitoring for clinicians to improve outcomes. Although unacceptable movement during MEP is a rare complication but it can lead to terrible results. The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk factors associated with unacceptable movements in patients undergoing brain surgery with MEP monitoring. We performed a retrospective observational study of patients who underwent brain surgery with MEP monitoring under general anesthesia while using a partial neuromuscular blocker in a tertiary care hospital from January 2014 to August 2017. Unacceptable movement was defined as a condition in which MEP stimulation induced vigorous movement of patient hindered the smooth progress of the operation. We compared the baseline patient characteristics and laboratory results according to unacceptable movements during surgery to identify factors associated with unacceptable movement during MEP monitoring.768 patients were included in this analysis, and unacceptable mov, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.37-2.36, P  less then  .001]. In addition, age (OR, 0.98; 95% CI, 0.96-0.99; P = .001), male sex (OR, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.09-2.33; P = .017), and body mass index (OR, 0.90; 95% CI, 0.86-0.95; P  less then 0.0010) were also associated with unacceptable movement. Serum ionized calcium concentration was the best predictor associated with unacceptable movement with MEP monitoring under general anesthesia.Serum ionized calcium concentration was the best predictor associated with unacceptable movement with MEP monitoring under general anesthesia.
