There is an emerging literature on the mental health of both pre- and post-partum mothers during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

As of April 1, 2020, 23 mothers confirmed with COVID-19, 15 mothers suspected with COVID-19 but with negative polymerase chain reaction tests, and 33 mothers without COVID-19 (Control Group) were recruited for a study from Hubei Province in China. The Maternal Postnatal Attachment Scale (MPAS), the Zung Self-rating Anxiety Scale, and the Zung Self-rating Depression Scale were applied to investigate the attachment of mothers to their neonates and the postpartum mental health of mothers within the first 3 months after delivery (between 20 to 89 days).

The period of mother-child separation among the confirmed group (33.9±20.9 days) was significantly longer than that of suspected group (16.7±12.2 days) and control group (10.7±8.4 days). The total score of the MPAS in mothers confirmed with COVID-19 (45.5±4.2) was significantly lower (indicating less mother-child t protocol, which needs to be revised to reduce prolonged mother-child separation. Additionally, mothers with and without COVID-19 suffered a high incidence of depression, which warrants further mental health investment for pregnant mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Decreased mother-child attachment found among mothers confirmed with COVID-19, indicates that further intervention is needed to ensure mother-child interaction to appropriately develop attachment. Mother-child attachment experienced disruption due to prolonged mother-child separation necessitated by the COVID-19 management protocol, which needs to be revised to reduce prolonged mother-child separation. Additionally, mothers with and without COVID-19 suffered a high incidence of depression, which warrants further mental health investment for pregnant mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

polypeptide k (ABPPk) is an active ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine separated from

polypeptides. So far, the role of ABPPk in peripheral nerve protection has not been comprehensively studied.

In this study, primary Schwann cells exposed to serum deprivation were treated with ABPPk or nerve growth factor (NGF)

. Cell viability, cell apoptosis, apoptosis-related protein expression, and antioxidant enzyme activity were analyzed. To further explore the underlying molecular mechanisms and key regulatory molecules involved in the effects of ABPPk, integrative and dynamic bioinformatics analysis at different time points was carried out following RNA-seq of Schwann cells subjected to serum deprivation.

We found that ABPPk could effectively reduce Schwann cell apoptosis caused by serum deprivation, which was comparable to NGF's anti-apoptotic effects. ABPPk had the largest number of upregulated and downregulated differential expression genes at the earliest 0.5 h time, while NGF had fewer diaditional Chinese medicine and benefit the discovery of novel therapeutic targets for peripheral nerve regeneration.

Using high-throughput sequencing technology, our work unveiled the protective effects of ABPPk on Schwann cells after serum deprivation in a more comprehensive manner. These results further enrich the positive functions and molecular mechanisms of ABPPk and traditional Chinese medicine and benefit the discovery of novel therapeutic targets for peripheral nerve regeneration.

Investigating the impact of magnification correction in macular vessel density using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in patients with anisometropia.

Cross-sectional study. Totally 47 patients (11 male, 36 female) aged >18 years with high myopia were analyzed. All patients underwent evaluation of visual acuity, subjective refraction, and axial length. Anisometropia (n=37) was defined as a refraction difference between paired eyes ≥0.75 D. The control group (n=10) consisted patients with a refraction difference ≤0.5 D. Superficial vessel density was performed using 3 mm × 3 mm Cirrus-HD OCTA protocol. The vessel length density (VLD) and foveal avascular zone area (FAZA) were analyzed before and after magnification correction using Bennett's formula.

The mean spherical equivalent (SE) was -10.54±3.47 D in the more myopic eye and -8.05±3.47 D in the contralateral eye (P<0.001). Before magnification correction, the mean perfusion density (PD) and VLD were both significantly lower in the more myopic eyes. After magnification correction, the VLD and PD did not differ between paired eyes. No statistical difference was found in terms of the FAZA between paired eyes regardless of magnification correction. The magnification-induced differences in both VLD and PD were positively correlated with the difference in SE (both r=0.86, P<0.001).

In OCTA analysis, magnification correction should be performed to reduce refraction error-induced image error, which deserves attention in the clinical application.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is the most lethal gynecological malignancy. It has been reported that cancer stem cells (CSCs) play a crucial role in disseminated metastases in abdominal cavity and chemotherapy resistance of high-grade serous OC. GSK-3 beta pathway However, the overall gene expression features of OC stem cells have not been clarified.

Expression datasets of 379 OC samples and 88 normal tissues were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Genotype Tissue Expression (GTEx) project. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened using the "limma" package in R software. Among the DEGs, modules and hub genes that were highly related to messenger RNA expression-based stemness index (mRNAsi) and epigenetically regulated mRNAsi indices were identified via weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). These hub genes were considered to be associated with OC stem cells. The Gene Ontology (GO) project and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis was used to identify the main biological processes that hub genes participated in.
