Seven databases were searched until June 2020 looking for randomized, non-randomized trials and case series. Mean effects (ME) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated.
Twenty-six studies with high risk of bias were included. PICO#1 In 26 patients without periodontitis and in 69 treated periodontitis patients, minimal changes in periodontal outcomes were reported after orthodontic therapy (p>0.05). A significant CAL gain (mm) (ME=3.523; 95% CI [2.353; 4.693]; p<0.001) was observed in 214 patients when periodontal outcomes were retrieved before a combined periodontal and orthodontic therapy. PICO#2 Orthodontic variables were scarcely reported and objective assessment of the results on orthodontic therapy were missing.

Natural products and compounds obtained from plants, fungi, bacteria, and other living organisms have been used for many decades in folklore medicine to prepare a varied range of natural formulations to treat multiple diseases and illnesses. Endophytic fungi reside inside the plant while causing no harm to the host plant and are relatively less explored as the primary source for the bioactive metabolites such as anticancer, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and industrial enzymes. This mini-review summarizes the potential of compounds and extracts from endophytic fungi against diabetes mellitus. Not much research has been dedicated in-depth understanding of the role of extracts of endophytic fungi and their effect on diabetes mellitus. Therefore, this article will focus on recent work and warrant further commentaries on the published articles.BAG3, a co-chaperone protein with a Bcl-2-associated athanogene (BAG) domain, has diverse functionalities in protein-folding, apoptosis, inflammation, and cell cycle regulatory cross-talks. It has been well characterised in cardiac diseases, cancers, and viral pathogenesis. The multiple roles of BAG3 are attributed to its functional regions like BAG, Tryptophan-rich (WW), isoleucine-proline-valine-rich (IPV), and proline-rich (PXXP) domains. However, to study its structural impact on various functions, the experimental 3D structure of BAG3 protein was not available. Hence, the structure was predicted through in silico modelling and validated through computational tools and molecular dynamics simulation studies. To the best of our knowledge, the role of BAG3 in bacterial infections is not explicitly reported. We attempted to study them through an in-silico protein-protein interaction network and host-pathogen interaction analysis. From structure-function relationships, it was identified that the WW and PXXP domains were associated with cellular cytoskeleton rearrangement and adhesion-mediated response, which might be involved in BAG3-related intracellular bacterial proliferation. From functional enrichment analysis, Gene Ontology terms and topological matrices, 18 host proteins and 29 pathogen proteins were identified in the BAG3 interactome pertaining to Legionellosis, Tuberculosis, Salmonellosis, Shigellosis, and Pertussis through differential phosphorylation events associated with serine metabolism. Furthermore, it was evident that direct (MAPK8, MAPK14) and associated (MAPK1, HSPD1, NFKBIA, TLR2, RHOA) interactors of BAG3 could be considered as therapeutic markers to curb down intracellular bacterial propagation in humans.This study sets out to establish the suitability of saliva-based whole-genome sequencing (WGS) through a comparison against blood-based WGS. To fully appraise the observed differences, we developed a novel technique of pseudo-replication. We also investigated the potential of characterizing individual salivary microbiomes from non-human DNA fragments found in saliva. We observed that the majority of discordant genotype calls between blood and saliva fell into known regions of the human genome that are typically sequenced with low confidence; and could be identified by quality control measures. Pseudo-replication demonstrated that the levels of discordance between blood- and saliva-derived WGS data were entirely similar to what one would expect between technical replicates if an individual's blood or saliva had been sequenced twice. Finally, we successfully sequenced salivary microbiomes in parallel to human genomes as demonstrated by a comparison against the Human Microbiome Project.The echogenic mass in the pulmonary artery is a rare finding in newborns. Differential diagnoses include pulmonary artery thrombosis, ductal aneurysm, and malignant tumor. We report a newborn case who presented with mild desaturation and was found to have a large echogenic mass at the pulmonary bifurcation on echocardiography, which caused partial flow obstruction in the proximal left pulmonary artery. Along with the findings of cardiac computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, the diagnosis of ductus arteriosus aneurysm (DAA) was made. This DAA spontaneously regressed without any intervention at 4 months follow-up.
