Replacement UPVC Door Handles

Whether you're replacing your handles or need to add extra security, you'll find the right handle for your door. Upvc handles are simple to install and meet the required 92mm centres for multipoint locks.

The most important measurements to consider are the backplate fixing centers and lever/key hole dimensions. Compare these measurements with your current marks before placing an order.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles for doors consist of an elongated lever handle on one side and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. They are designed to be used with key wind locks. However they can be affixed to multipoint split spindle door locks.

Our range of upvc handles lever pads are available in a variety of finishes and these will be listed in the drop down list after you have selected the right handle for your doors. Not all styles of handle are available in every finish though and it is recommended to check the sizes and technical drawings for the particular product you're looking for to ensure that you get the correct size and fitting.

It is crucial that when choosing the new set of upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the center of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles need to be aligned in order for the doors to stay locked, no matter if you're looking from the outside or inside. Our handles are designed to fit the majority of standard cylinders, however it is a good idea to double-check before purchasing.

You'll need to remove your existing handles and dismantle the lock case if upgrading to dual spindle levers for your handle since this will require a split inline cylinder. You can purchase these separately. We have included a diagram of the technical aspects in the images of each product.

It is a good idea to loosen the screws holding the door handle you have and then check the mechanism. It is possible that you will need to loosen the screws further if they are not tight, and then you can remove the old spindle and handle and put in your new upvc door handle. Before screwing the handle into place it is a good idea to ensure that it is in the proper position, and you can do this by placing your finger into the gap between the frame of the door and the handle to make sure it is level.

Lever/Lever

Lever door handles operate a multi point lock using a Euro Cylinder and can be found on most upvc double doors, aluminium doors and some wooden doors. They come in two types, with the lever inside and a paddle on the outside. Sprung - They have an internal spring cassette within the backplate to help to bring the handle lever into the horizontal position. Non-sprung: These do NOT have a mechanism for bringing the handle lever to a horizontal position.

To fix the door handle lever that is sliding it is necessary to locate the detent access pin or hole. It's typically an insignificant hole or protruding ring, or rectangle, that is located on the base of the handle plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you can take it out using an screwdriver.

Once the handle has been positioned horizontally, you can put back the screws. Tighten them to ensure that the handle is securely connected to the base plate. It is also recommended to apply a threadlocking adhesive solution to the screw threads to increase the grip and stop them from loosing over time.

Drooping lever handles on door handles can be caused by various causes. The most common cause is that the fixings are too tight and the lever bearing to get tangled up against the door. It could also be that the levers aren't being operated at a straight angle and this is causing compression of the latch mechanism, preventing it from fully springing back into service.

The most common reason for a sprung lever not working correctly is the spring not being in the proper position on the backplate. The easiest way to test this is to operate the handle to check whether it changes to its horizontal position.

If the door handles aren't tight, it is essential to spot the issue quickly, since this could lead to excessive wear on the screws and possibly to the handle falling off of the base plate. It is recommended to tighten all screws that are loose on a regular basis in order to prevent them from becoming loose.

Lever/Snib

These upvc handles are called "Snib handle sets" and feature the snib lock button on the top of the lever. If you do not have a dummy locking device, you can use this to lock the door. It could also be that the latch is loose from the backplate. repairmywindowsanddoors could be more of a problem and will require a specialist to repair.
