Humans respond cognitively and emotionally to the built environment. The modern possibility of recording the neural activity of subjects during exposure to environmental situations, using neuroscientific techniques and virtual reality, provides a promising framework for future design and studies of the built environment. The discipline derived is termed "neuroarchitecture". Given neuroarchitecture's transdisciplinary nature, it progresses needs to be reviewed in a contextualised way, together with its precursor approaches. The present article presents a scoping review, which maps out the broad areas on which the new discipline is based. The limitations, controversies, benefits, impact on the professional sectors involved, and potential of neuroarchitecture and its precursors' approaches are critically addressed. This work aims to investigate more sustainable reaction conditions for the synthesis of metallophthalocyanines. Anisole, glycerol and their mixtures have been investigated as reaction media for the tetramerization of phthalonitriles. Acetates of three divalent first-transition metal cations, Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II), were used and several bases were tested, depending on the chosen substrates and reaction conditions, with a view to making the whole process more sustainable while ensuring its scalability. Unsubstituted phthalocyanines were synthesized to analyze the behavior of the different metal ions in terms of reactivity in the new reaction media, resulting in a general Cu > Co > Zn trend, while the nonpolar tetra-tert-butyl substitution was investigated to evaluate the synthesis of soluble derivatives in the new conditions. Furthermore, the potassium hydroxide (KOH)-aided statistical synthesis of the unsymmetrical 9(10), 16(17), 23(24)-tri-tert-butyl-2-iodophthalocyaninato zinc(II), starting from 4-tert-butylphthalonitrile and 4-iodophthalonitrile in a glycerol/anisole mixture, proceeded with a satisfactory 26% yield. Our results provide insights into the investigation of new reaction environments and the understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, with a view to further increasing the sustainability of the synthesis of metallomacrocycles with high added value while lowering their production cost.Green chrysanthemums are difficult to breed but have high commercial value. The molecular basis for the green petal color in chrysanthemum is not fully understood. This was investigated in the present study by RNA sequencing analysis of white and green ray florets collected at three stages of flower development from the F1 progeny of the cross between Chrysanthemum × morifolium "Lüdingdang" with green-petaled flowers and Chrysanthemum vistitum with white-petaled flowers. The chlorophyll content was higher and chloroplast degradation was slower in green pools than in white pools at each developmental stage. Transcriptome analysis revealed that genes that were differentially expressed between the two pools were enriched in pathways related to chlorophyll metabolism and photosynthesis. We identified the transcription factor genes CmCOLa, CmCOLb, CmERF, and CmbHLH as regulators of the green flower color in chrysanthemum by differential expression analysis and weighted gene co-expression network analysis. These findings can guide future efforts to improve the color palette of chrysanthemum flowers through genetic engineering.Cryoprotectants allow cells to be frozen in liquid nitrogen and cryopreserved for years by minimizing the damage that occurs in cooling and warming processes. Unfortunately, how the specific cryoprotectants keep the cells viable through the cryopreservation process is not entirely evident. This contributes to the arduous process of optimizing cryoprotectant formulations for each new cell line or species that is conserved. buy ML264 Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscopy facilitates the visualization of deuterated cryoprotectants within living cells. Using this technique, we directly imaged the location of fully deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide (d6-DMSO), the deuterated form of a commonly used cryoprotectant, DMSO, within rice suspension cells. This work showed that d6-DMSO does not uniformly distribute throughout the cells, rather it enters the cell and sequesters within organelles, changing our understanding of how DMSO concentration varies within the cellular compartments. Variations in cryoprotectant concentration within different cells and tissues will likely lead to differing protection from liquid nitrogen exposure. Expanding this work to include different cryoprotectants and mixtures of cryoprotectants is vital to create a robust understanding of how the distributions of these molecules change when different cryoprotectants are used. There has been growing interest in utilizing information from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to help guide both treatment delivery and prognosis. In this assessment of locally advanced unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with definitive chemoradiation, we aimed to determine the survival advantage associated with using CBCT to measure tumor regression. Patient, tumor, and treatment characteristics were collected. The serial tumor shrinkage for each patient was determined from tumor volume contours on weekly CBCTs. Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier technique and a Cox proportional hazards model. At least two-thirds of patients had a tumor volume reduction of at least 5% after each week of chemoradiation. A weekly reduction in tumor volume of 5% or greater seen on the CBCT images during radiation therapy was significantly associated with improved overall survival, which remained significant when adjusted for age, histology, grade, and T- and N-stages (p = 0.0036). Additionally, the presence of N3 disease was associated with a five-fold increased risk of recurrence (p = 0.0006) and a nearly three-fold increased risk of death (p = 0.053) compared with N0-N2 disease. Tumor volume shrinkage observed in the CBCT images during definitive chemoradiation holds promise as a prognostic indicator of stage III NSCLC, especially given its affordability, availability, and applicability. Further evaluation in a prospective fashion is warranted to validate the tumor volume shrinkage and its clinical utility.
