PURPOSE The aim of our study was to assess CT angiography findings of head and neck tumours in predicting carotid blow out syndrome (CBS). METHOD We retrospectively reviewed the records of patients with head and neck cancer who underwent invasive angiography for CBS at our Institution from July 2013-2019. All routine CT angiography scans were assessed for the following findings with a univariate logistic regression analysis 1) 360 ° involvement of the suspect artery by the tumour; 2) tissue or tumour necrosis, which was defined as an hypodense area with lack of contrast enhancement in the soft tissues of the neck or tumour mass, adjacent to the suspected vessel; 3) calibre reduction of the culprit artery; 5) jugular vein infiltration. T stage was also included in the analysis. RESULTS A total of 24 patients who underwent routine CT angiogram neck and embolization for CBS were included in this study. Qualitative analysis indicated that the phenomenology of the experience of agentive characters varied in terms of the characters' separateness from the writer's self and the kinds of interaction this did or did not allow for. BACKGROUND Osteosarcoma (OS) is a significant threat to the lives of children and young adults. Although neoadjuvant chemotherapy is the first choice of treatment for OS, it is limited by serious side-effects and cancer metastasis. β-Elemonic acid (β-EA), an active component extracted from Boswellia carterii Birdw., has been reported to exhibit potential anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. However, the anti-tumor effects and underlying mechanisms on OS as well as pharmacokinetic characteristics of β-EA remain unknown. PURPOSE This study was aimed to investigating the anti-tumor effects of β-EA on human OS, the underlying mechanisms, and the pharmacokinetic and tissue distribution characteristics. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS Cell viability and colony formation assays were performed to determine the effect of β-EA cell on cell proliferation. Apoptosis rates, mitochondrial membrane potential and cell cycle features were analyzed by flow cytometry. qRT-PCR, Western blot, immunofluorescence and immunohistochption, short elimination half-life, and linear pharmacokinetic characteristics of β-EA were also revealed. The distribution of β-EA was detected in the tumor and bone tissues. CONCLUSIONS Overall, both in vitro and in vivo investigations showed the potential of β-EA for the treatment of human OS. The pharmacokinetic profile and considerable distribution in the tumor and bone tissues warrant further preclinical or even clinical studies. An increasing number of jurisdictions have legalized non-medical cannabis use, including Canada in October 2018 and several US states starting in 2012. The policy measures implemented within these regulated markets differ with respect to product standards, labelling and warnings, public education, retail policies, marketing, and price/taxation. The International Cannabis Policy Study (ICPS) seeks to evaluate the impacts of these policy measures as well as the broader population-level impact of cannabis legalization using a quasi-experimental research design. The objective of this paper is to describe the ICPS conceptual framework, methods, and baseline estimates of cannabis use. The ICPS is a prospective cohort survey conducted with national samples of 16-65-year-olds in Canada and the US. Data are collected via an online survey using the Nielsen Consumer Insights Global Panel.
