irgin patients. The results show that, in experienced hands, indications for vNOTES can be broadened and include virgin women. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? This first report of vNOTES hysterectomy in virgin patients is only a small but important step in the evaluation of safety and efficacy of this emerging technique. Further research is needed to assess reproducibility of the findings and to carefully determine indications and contraindications of vNOTES.The objective of this study was to examine the effect of maternal height on adverse perinatal outcomes in obese parturients. This retrospective study was conducted from January 2015 to December 2015. Patients with BMI ≥ 35.0 kg/m2 before delivery were included and divided into 2 groups based on height. Patients ≤63 inches were in the short stature group and those > 63 inches were in the tall stature group. One hundred and twenty-five patients were in the short stature cohort and 124 in the tall stature cohort. Patients in short cohort had a significantly higher risk of preterm delivery less then 37 weeks (RR = 4.21 [1.24, 12.88]), spontaneous rupture of membranes (RR 1.47 [1.01-2.16]), and second stage caesarean delivery (CD) (RR 2.64 [1.1-6.39]). After multiple regression analysis, Hispanic race and short stature were independent predictors of preterm birth for obese patients.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? Compared to normal weight individuals, those who are obese have at a higher risk of adverse obstetric and perinatal outcomes including gestational diabetes, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, thromboembolism, macrosomia, higher incidence of caesarean deliveries and perinatal mortality. What do the results of this study add? Our findings show that short stature is an independent predictor for adverse perinatal outcomes in obese women. Specifically, short obese patients had significantly higher risk of preterm delivery before 37 weeks and second stage CD.What are the implications of the findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Our findings highlight the need for formulating a tailored plan for preconception health including pregnancy weight goals in short obese women. Additionally, maternal fat distribution and its effect on pro-inflammatory cytokine profiles is a potential area for future research, as maternal body composition may be a better predictor of perinatal outcome than BMI.Organisms exposed to endocrine disruptors in early life can show altered phenotype later in adulthood. Although the mechanisms underlying these long-term effects remain poorly understood, an increasing body of evidence points towards the potential role of epigenetic processes. selleck products In the present study, we exposed hatchlings of an isogenic lineage of the self-fertilizing fish mangrove rivulus for 28 days to 4 and 120 ng/L of 17-α-ethinylestradiol. After a recovery period of 140 days, reduced representation bisulphite sequencing (RRBS) was performed on the liver in order to assess the hepatic genome-wide methylation landscape. Across all treatment comparisons, a total of 146 differentially methylated fragments (DMFs) were reported, mostly for the group exposed to 4 ng/L, suggesting a non-monotonic effect of EE2 exposure. Gene ontology analysis revealed networks involved in lipid metabolism, cellular processes, connective tissue function, molecular transport and inflammation. The highest effect was reported for nipped-B-like protein B (NIPBL) promoter region after exposure to 4 ng/L EE2 (+ 21.9%), suggesting that NIPBL could be an important regulator for long-term effects of EE2. Our results also suggest a significant role of DNA methylation in intergenic regions and potentially in transposable elements. These results support the ability of early exposure to endocrine disruptors of inducing epigenetic alterations during adulthood, providing plausible mechanistic explanations for long-term phenotypic alteration. Additionally, this work demonstrates the usefulness of isogenic lineages of the self-fertilizing mangrove rivulus to better understand the biological significance of long-term alterations of DNA methylation by diminishing the confounding factor of genetic variability. Background Food is already recognized as a trigger for migraine, but its mechanism of action has not been fully clarified. There is evidence that they act on the pathogenesis of migraine, interfering with meningeal inflammation, vasodilation and cerebral glucose metabolism.Aim The aim of this study was to know which plant foods are triggers for migraine and the latency time for the onset of pain.Method We interviewed patients with migraine and tension-type headache about plant foods that trigger headache and onset time of the headache. We studied 3,935 migraine patients and 1,163 with tension-type headache. Results There were headaches triggered by plant foods after 90.5 ± 7.9 minutes of ingestion in 40.3% (1,584/3,935) of migraine patients and none with tension-type headache. Headaches triggered by plant foods intake are distributed in the following order of frequency watermelon (29.5%), passion fruit (3.73%), orange (2.01%), pineapple (1.52%), grape (0.51%), banana (0.46%), cucumber (0.43%), acerola (0.25%) and papaya (0.25%).Conclusions Many plant foods, especially watermelon, may trigger headache attacks in migraine patients within a few minutes.Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a common physical disability that is managed with a variety of strategies. One non-invasive intervention for people living with CP is a type of video self-modelling (VSM) referred to as positive self-review (PSR). PSR involves watching a video of oneself performing only the best examples of a desired task; this technique has been associated with improved performance and learning for people without disabilities and for those in various clinical populations, including children with spina bifida and stroke patients. PSR may have similar benefits for people living with CP. In this study we examined the effectiveness of PSR for improving a self-selected movement task among individuals living with CP. In this case study approach, eight participants completed a pre-, post-, and second post-test measuring and recording well-being, movement self-consciousness and tendency to consciously monitor movements. Results were mixed, with some participants improving their movement time, well-being ratings and tendency toward self-consciousness and conscious monitoring of movements and others showing no changes or regressions.
