ious studies reported about GSL + PEA or PEA alone in PAC patients.
GATT + GSL could significantly reduce IOP and number of anti-glaucoma medications from baseline compared to the last follow-up; however, there seemed not to be any superiority to the effects found in previous studies reported about GSL + PEA or PEA alone in PAC patients.
The aim of this study was to compare the distance, intermediate, and near visual performance of a new IOL (ICB00, Eyhance, Tecnis) and classic monofocal IOL (SN60WF IQ AcrySof, Alcon) after unilateral implantation.
Sixty-three patients were unilaterally implanted with the ICB00 Eyhance IOL (study group) and 65 patients with the SN60WF IQ AcrySof (control group). Conteltinib datasheet Visual performance was assessed with monocular corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) and uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) at 4m, corrected intermediate visual acuity (CIVA) and uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA) at 60cm, and corrected near visual acuity (CNVA) and uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) at 40cm.
CDVA, UDVA, CNVA, and UNVA values did not differ significantly between the study and control groups (0.02 ± 0.02 vs. 0.03 ± 0.02, p = 0.523; 0.05 ± 0.13 vs. 0.05 ± 0.15, p = 0.637; 0.46 ± 0.17 vs. 0.46 ± 0.15, p = 0.821; and 0.47 ± 0.21 vs. 0.49 ± 0.25, p = 0.612; respectively), whereas the study group showed significantly better results for CIVA (0.28 ± 0.12 vs. 0.38 ± 0.13, p = 0.001) and UIVA (0.31 ± 0.16 vs. 0.41 ± 0.12, p = 0.001).
The Eyhance IOL, which features a new optical design based on a continuous power profile, was determined to be superior to a classic monofocal IOL for intermediate visual acuity and not inferior for corrected and uncorrected distance and near visual acuity.

Meningiomas are the most common intracranial tumors, accounting for 20-30% of central nervous system tumors. Recently, the European Medicines Agency issued an alert on cyproterone acetate (CPA) based on the results of a study that found an increased risk of meningioma 7 to 20 times higher when a patient is on CPA. The primary objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of CPA exposure in patients who had one or more intracranial meningiomas treated surgically or with radiation therapy. The secondary objectives were to establish a description of the patients who had intracranial meningioma in Nantes and to establish whether there was a difference in the intrinsic and tumoral characteristics of patients exposed to CPA compared with patients who had no hormonal exposure and patients who had been exposed to other hormones.
Monocentric, retrospective study including all patients treated by surgery or radiotherapy for intracranial meningioma from 2014 to 2017 excluding those with a history of exposure to ionizing radiation or neurofibromatosis type 2.
388 patients were included, 277 were treated by surgery and 111 by radiotherapy. 3.9% of the patients had a history or current use of CPA, 16.2% were taking other hormonal treatment. Compared with the group without hormonal exposure, the CPA-exposed group had significantly an earlier onset of meningiomas at 48.9 vs. 61.9years (p = 0.0005) and had more multiple meningiomas, 26.7% vs. 6.1% (p = 0.0115).
In our study, patients with a history or current use of CPA had significantly more meningiomas and were significantly younger at the onset.

The expression of the Siti1/NLRP3/NF-κB signaling pathway was detected by western blotting and immunohistochemistry experiments. BE improved ECG; reduced myocardial infarction area; decreased CK, LDH, AST, MDA, NO, and inflammatory cytokines; and increased SOD and GSH in I/R rats. In addition, BE also increased Siti1 and decreased the NLRP3/NF-κB signaling pathway in I/R rats. This study shows that the protection of BE is associated with changes in the Siti1/NLRP3/NF-κB pathway.Resistance to carbapenems due to metallo-beta-lactamase NDM-1 was first described in Brazil in 2013. To date, only a few scattered reports of the prevalence of NDM-1 in the country have been reported, and most of them indicated a very low prevalence of this metalloenzyme. In the present study, we report a steady increase in the frequency of NDM among Enterobacterales resistant to carbapenems in a tertiary care hospital in southern Brazil. Carbapenemase genes were evaluated by multiplex real-time polymerase chain using high-resolution melting analysis among 3501 isolates of 8 different species of Enterobacterales recovered from January 2015 to May 2020. The blaKPC-like was identified in 3003 isolates (85.8%) and the blaNDM-like was the second most common gene (351 isolates-10%). There was a steady increase in frequency of blaNDM-like, from 4.2% in 2015 to 24% in 2020. The increase of blaNDM frequency raises an important matter as novel therapeutic options are currently very limited for the treatment of patients infected by bacteria carrying the blaNDM.Two Gram-stain-negative, oxidase- and catalase-positive, aerobic strains (CY05T and H18S-6) were isolated from sediment samples of the Yellow Sea, China. The strains were positive for denitrification. Optimum growth was observed at 20 °C, pH 7.5-8.0 and with 2.0%-3.0% NaCl. The predominant cellular fatty acids (> 10%) were summed feature 8 (C181 ω7c and/or C181 ω6c), major respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10 and main polar lipids were phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified phospholipid and one unidentified aminolipid. The approximate genome size of strains CY05T and H18S-6 were 4.86 and 5.04 Mbp, the genomic G + C content of them were 54.2 and 54.5%, respectively. Both of the phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and the up-to-date bacterial core gene (UBCG) sequences revealed that strains CY05T, H18S-6 and Pelagicola marinus DSW4-44T formed a distinct monophyletic clade within the family Rhodobacteraceae. The ANI and isDDH values between strains CY05T and H18S-6 were 94.
