Mothers with OW/OB had higher milk insulin and dihomo-gamma-linolenic, adrenic, and palmitic acids and reduced conjugated linoleic and oleic acids. N6 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFA)-driven factor 1 was associated with higher WFL, lower length-for-age (LFA), and lower head circumference-for-age Z-scores change from 2 weeks to 2 months in human milk-fed infants, whereas N6 LC-PUFA-driven factor 5 was associated with lower LFA Z-score change. Human milk composition is associated with maternal pre-pregnancy weight status and composition may be a contributing factor to early infant growth trajectory. © 2020 The Authors. A community-based participatory research conceptual model framed the multimethod evaluation of promotoras, service providers, and community participants at baseline and at the 1-year follow up. The promotoras increased their self-efficacy and knowledge, felt a strong sense of commitment to the community, viewed themselves as a bridge between participants and providers, and felt empowered by their new role. Service providers valued the promotoras as their ambassadors in the community and Lazos Hispanos as central to connecting service providers, promotoras, and community members; they noted that this collaboration increased their accountability with the Latinx community. This multistakeholder evaluation highlights the depth of positive changes achieved during the first year and the challenges of a community-embedded project and the benefits and possibilities of calling upon theoretically informed evaluation models. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.In female mammals, the size of the initially established primordial follicle (PF) pool within the ovaries determines the reproductive lifespan of females. Interestingly, the establishment of the PF pool is accompanied by a remarkable programmed oocyte loss for unclear reasons. Although apoptosis and autophagy are involved in the process of oocyte loss, the underlying mechanisms require substantial study. Panobinostat concentration Here, we identify a new role of lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1) in controlling the fate of oocytes in perinatal mice through regulating the level of autophagy. Our results show that the relatively higher level of LSD1 in fetal ovaries sharply reduces from 18.5 postcoitus (dpc). Meanwhile, the level of autophagy increases while oocytes are initiating programmed death. Specific disruption of LSD1 resulted in significantly increased autophagy and obviously decreased oocyte number compared with the control. Conversely, the oocyte number is remarkably increased by the overexpression of Lsd1 in ovaries. We further demonstrated that LSD1 exerts its role by regulating the transcription of p62 and affecting autophagy level through its H3K4me2 demethylase activity. Finally, in physiological conditions, a decrease in LSD1 level leads to an increased level of autophagy in the oocyte when a large number of oocytes are being lost. Collectively, LSD1 may be one of indispensible epigenetic molecules who protects oocytes against preterm death through repressing the autophagy level in a time-specific manner. And epigenetic modulation contributes to programmed oocyte death by regulating autophagy in mice. © 2020 The Authors. BACKGROUND Effective strategies to integrate person-centred approaches into health care settings have attracted global attention and research in the past two decades. Video feedback has emerged as technique to enhance reflective learning and person-centred practice change in some care settings; however, it has not been tested in the context of person-centred dementia communication in long-term care. DESIGN Discussion paper. DATA SOURCES Articles dating from 1995 to 2018 retrieved via searches of the SCOPUS, CINAHL, MEDLINE and Cochrane Systematic Review databases. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING Inclusion of video feedback in a person-centred dementia communication intervention for nurses and other health care providers may effectively fill a gap evident in the literature. This intervention can offer feedback of enhanced quality and enduring impact on behaviour change relative to traditional training. CONCLUSION A critical review of empirical and theoretical evidence supports video feedback as a potential means to enhance person-centred communication within the context of dementia and long-term care. The promising benefits of video feedback present a novel research opportunity to pilot its use to enhance person-centred communication between nurses/health care providers and persons with dementia in long-term care. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.Molecular hydrogen is a major high-energy carrier for future energy technologies, if produced from renewable electrical energy. Hydrogenase enzymes offer a pathway for bioelectrochemically producing hydrogen that is advantageous over traditional platforms for hydrogen production because of low overpotentials and ambient operating temperature and pressure. However, electron delivery from the electrode surface to the enzyme's active site is often rate-limiting. Here, we show three different hydrogenases from Clostridium pasteurianum and Methanococcus maripaludis , when immobilized at a cathode in a cobaltocene-functionalized polyallylamine (Cc-PAA) redox polymer, mediate rapid and efficient hydrogen evolution. We further show that Cc-PAA-mediated hydrogenases can operate at high faradaic efficiency (80-100%) and low overpotential (-0.578 to -0.593 V vs. SHE). Specific activities of these hydrogenases in the electrosynthetic Cc-PAA assay were comparable to their respective activities in traditional methyl viologen assays, indicating that Cc-PAA mediates electron transfer at high rates, to most of the embedded enzymes.
