This article is devoted to the instrumentation, with optical fibres, of the straps holding the envelope of stratospheric balloons. This instrumentation is motivated in the first instance by the need to validate the numerical models used in the design of balloons. It must also be used to measure the temperature along the envelope in order to deduce the pressure field. It is shown at first that the optical fibres can be inserted inside a strap during its fabrication. Different kinds of insertion are considered, none of them perturb the industrial process. The instrumented straps were then submitted to thermal and mechanical tests and the distributed Brillouin frequency shifts were measured. We thus determined the type of insertion to be used according to the parameter (temperature or strain) to be measured and assessed the performance of the measurement chain.Following peripheral nerve trauma that damages a length of the nerve, recovery of function is generally limited. This is because no material tested for bridging nerve gaps promotes good axon regeneration across the gap under conditions associated with common nerve traumas. While many materials have been tested, sensory nerve grafts remain the clinical "gold standard" technique. This is despite the significant limitations in the conditions under which they restore function. Thus, they induce reliable and good recovery only for patients less then 25 years old, when gaps are less then 2 cm in length, and when repairs are performed less then 2-3 months post trauma. Repairs performed when these values are larger result in a precipitous decrease in neurological recovery. Further, when patients have more than one parameter larger than these values, there is normally no functional recovery. Clinically, there has been little progress in developing new techniques that increase the level of functional recovery following peripheral nerve injury. This paper examines the efficacies and limitations of sensory nerve grafts and various other techniques used to induce functional neurological recovery, and how these might be improved to induce more extensive functional recovery. It also discusses preliminary data from the clinical application of a novel technique that restores neurological function across long nerve gaps, when repairs are performed at long times post-trauma, and in older patients, even under all three of these conditions. Thus, it appears that function can be restored under conditions where sensory nerve grafts are not effective. In this study, we examined correlations between the deposition of inosine monophosphate (IMP) and mRNA expression of the adenylate kinase 1 (AK1) gene in Jingyuan chicken. The IMP content was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. Transcriptome sequencing was used to screen the differentially expressed gene AK1 and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to determine the expression level of AK1 mRNA associated with IMP synthesis. IMP and inosine content in the breast muscles of both Jingyuan cocks and hens was found to be significantly higher than that in the leg muscles. Similarly, the expression of AK1 mRNA in the breast muscles of cocks and hens was significantly higher than that in the leg muscles. Moreover, AK1 mRNA expression in cock breast muscles was negatively correlated with IMP content, whereas its expression in cock leg muscles was positively correlated with IMP content. In contrast, the expression of AK1 mRNA in hen breast and leg muscles was significantly positively correlated with IMP content. These findings provide a scientific basis for enhancing the meat flavor of Jingyuan chicken and promoting the development and utilization of local variety resources, as well as constituting a basis for screening IMP-regulated genes. Our study will advance our current understanding of AK1 function.Colistin is used as a last-line antibiotic for the treatment of Gram-negative multiresistant bacteria. Due to its high nephrotoxicity, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) is recommended for dose adjustment. We aimed to evaluate the available evidence of TDM in patients given colistin to treat Gram-negative infections. In this paper, we offer an overview, using an electronic search of the literature (published up to June 2019, without language restrictions) that compares the clinical outcomes and measurements of colistin TDM. Ultimately, the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) of colistin in Plasma could prevent nephrotoxicity risk. The thermal conditions in the molten pool during the laser surface melting of ductile cast iron EN-GJS-700-2 were estimated by using infrared thermography and thermocouple measurements. The thermal data were then correlated with the microstructure of the melted zone. Additionally, the thermodynamic calculations of a Fe-C-Si alloy system were performed to predict the solidification path of the melted zone. It was found that increasing the cooling rate during solidification of the refined ledeburite eutectic but also suppressed the martensitic transformation. A continuous network of plate-like secondary cementite precipitates and nanometric spherical precipitates of tertiary cementite were observed in regions of primary and eutectic austenite. The solidification of the melted zone terminated with the Liquid → γ-Fe + Fe3C + Fe8Si2C reaction. The hardness of the melted zone was affected by both the fraction of the retained austenite and the morphology of the ledeburite eutectic.Recent studies in biomechanical modeling suggest a paradigm shift, in which the parameters of biomechanical models would no longer treated as fixed values but as random variables with, often unknown, distributions. In turn, novel and efficient numerical methods will be required to handle such complicated modeling problems. The main aim of this study was to introduce and verify genetic algorithm for analyzing uncertainty in biomechanical modeling. The idea of the method was to encode two adversarial models within one decision variable vector. click here These structures would then be concurrently optimized with the objective being the maximization of the difference between their outputs. The approach, albeit expensive numerically, offered a general formulation of the uncertainty analysis, which did not constrain the search space. The second aim of the study was to apply the proposed procedure to analyze the uncertainty of an ankle joint model with 43 parameters and flexible links. The bounds on geometrical and material parameters of the model were set to 0.
