r-protein energy-restricted Healthy US-Style Eating Pattern. This trial was registered at clinicaltrials.gov as NCT03174769.Enhancer-promoter interactions (EPIs) play an important role in transcriptional regulation. Recently, machine learning-based methods have been widely used in the genome-scale identification of EPIs due to their promising predictive performance. In this paper, we propose a novel method, termed EPI-DLMH, for predicting EPIs with the use of DNA sequences only. EPI-DLMH consists of three major steps. First, a two-layer convolutional neural network is used to learn local features, and an bidirectional gated recurrent unit network is used to capture long-range dependencies on the sequences of promoters and enhancers. Second, an attention mechanism is used for focusing on relatively important features. Finally, a matching heuristic mechanism is introduced for the exploration of the interaction between enhancers and promoters. We use benchmark datasets in evaluating and comparing the proposed method with existing methods. Comparative results show that our model is superior to currently existing models in multiple cell lines. Specifically, we found that the matching heuristic mechanism introduced into the proposed model mainly contributes to the improvement of performance in terms of overall accuracy. Additionally, compared with existing models, our model is more efficient with regard to computational speed.

Browsing webpages that offer health information allows visitors to remain anonymous, particularly when researching sensitive topics. Uncertainty about confidentiality may be a barrier for adolescents to discuss their health in-person with a physician and seek further health information on the Internet after seeing a physician.

To explore factors contributing to perceived online health information seeking after visiting a physician in a sample of high school students.

A cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2016 to January 2017. The study included 702 high school students. Socio-demographic and behavioral questionnaire as well as the electronic health (e-health) literacy scale (eHEALS) were used to collect data. Students described their perceptions of what they commonly do after visiting a physician, which was not connected to a particular clinic at any point in time.

A total of 347 students (49.4%) perceived that they search for online health information after visiting a physician. Attending humanities-languages school program, lower education level of parents, being older at first Internet use, stronger influence of online health information on students' behaviour, better e-health literacy, use of smartphones, YouTube, social networks and heath forums were associated with perceived online health information seeking after visiting a physician.

One-half of high school students in this study perceived that they search for online health information after having visited a physician. Our results suggest that many adolescents might seek additional information about health.

To evaluate the intra-unit (RELINTRA) and inter-unit reliability (RELINTER) of two structurally identical units of the metabolic analyser K5 (COSMED, Rome, Italy) that allows to utilize either breath-by-breath (BBB) or dynamic mixing chamber (DMC) technology.

Identical flow- and gas-signals were transmitted to both K5s that always operated simultaneously either in BBB- or DMC-mode. To assess RELINTRA and RELINTER, a metabolic simulator was applied to simulate four graded levels of respiration. RELINTRA and RELINTER were expressed as typical error (TE%) and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). To assess also inter-unit differences via natural respiratory signals, 12 male athletes performed one incremental bike step test each in BBB- and DMC-mode. Inter-unit differences within biological testing were expressed as percentages.

In BBB, TE% of RELINTRA ranged 0.30-0.67 vs. RELINTER 0.16-1.39 and ICC ranged 0.57-1.00 vs. 0.09-1.00. In DMC, TE% of RELINTRA ranged 0.38-0.90 vs. RELINTER 0.03-0.86 and ICC r large ES in BBB. Hence, the K5 should be allocated personally wherever possible. Otherwise, e.g. in multicenter studies, a decrease in total reliability needs to be considered especially when the BBB-mode is applied. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of subconcussive head impacts on acute changes in plasma S100B. In this randomized controlled trial, 79 healthy adult soccer players were randomly assigned to either the heading (n = 41) or kicking-control groups (n = 38). The heading group executed 10 headers with soccer balls projected at a speed of 25 mph, whereas the kicking-control group performed 10 kicks. Plasma samples were obtained at pre-, 0h post-, 2h post- and 24h post-intervention and measured for S100B. The primary hypothesis was that there would be a significant group difference (group-by-time interaction) in plasma S100B at 2h post-intervention. Secondary hypotheses included (1) no significant group differences in plasma S100B concentrations at 0h post- and 24h post-intervention; (2) a significant within-group increase in S100B concentrations in the heading group at 2h post-intervention compared to pre-intervention; and (3) no significant within-group changes in plasma S100B in the kicking-contrtion. The protocol was registered under ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT03488381; retrospectively registered.).[This corrects the article DOI 10.1371/journal.pone.0160559.].This study examined the klotho (KL) longevity gene polymorphism rs9315202 and psychopathology, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and alcohol-use disorders, in association with advanced epigenetic age in three postmortem cortical tissue regions dorsolateral and ventromedial prefrontal cortices and motor cortex. Using data from the VA National PTSD Brain Bank (n = 117), we found that rs9315202 interacted with PTSD to predict advanced epigenetic age in motor cortex among the subset of relatively older (>=45 years), white non-Hispanic decedents (corrected p = 0.014, n = 42). An evaluation of 211 additional common KL variants revealed that only variants in linkage disequilibrium with rs9315202 showed similarly high levels of significance. Alcohol abuse was nominally associated with advanced epigenetic age in motor cortex (p = 0.039, n = 114). The rs9315202 SNP interacted with PTSD to predict decreased KL expression via DNAm age residuals in motor cortex among older white non-Hispanics decedents (indirect β = -0.
