Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) of the breast, a mesenchymal neoplasm with skeletal muscle differentiation, is an extremely rare tumour in males, with less than 30 cases published in English-language literature. We report on the first case of a male breast RMS, with an unusual ectomesenchymal/neuroectodermal component.
A 55-year-old, previously healthy male, underwent a radical left mastectomy for an ulcerated tumour mass, occupying the breast and left anterior thoracic wall. The biopsy specimen indicated the presence of a tumour with neural origins, namely a peripheral neuroectodermal tumour (PNET). The surgical specimens identified two components. The rhabdomyosarcomatous component (over 70%) was represented by large pleomorphic cells with positivity for desmin, sarcomeric actin and myogenin. The PNET-like ectomesenchymal component, which was admixed with the RMS cells, and was also revealed during the preoperative biopsy, consisted of small cells which expressed neurofilament, neuron specific enolase and CD99. The microscopic examination, along with the immunohistochemical profile, allowed the diagnosis of an RMS, with unusual ectomesenchymal differentiation. The patient refused the postoperative oncologic therapy and died three months after surgery.
In patients with RMS of the breast, the PNET-like ectomesenchymal component increases the diagnosis difficulty, especially in biopsy specimens. This differentiation can be immunohistochemically proven and might highlight the possible development of high-grade sarcoma of the breast from remnants of the embryological ectodermal layer.

The therapeutic approach of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) represents a real challenge for clinicians, because of the variable clinical course; the recent availability of numerous targeted therapies that have significantly improved overall oncological results, but still with a low percentage of complete responses; and the increasing role of metastasectomy (MSX) as an effective strategy to achieve a durable cure, or at least defer initiation of systemic therapies, in selected patients and in the context of multimodality treatment strategies.
We report here the case of a 40-year-old man who was referred to our unit in November 2004 with lung and mediastinal lymph nodes metastases identified during periodic surveillance 6 years after a radical nephrectomy for RCC; he underwent MSX of multiple lung nodules and mediastinal lymphadenectomy, with subsequent systemic therapy with Fluorouracil, Interferon-alpha and Interleukin 2. The subsequent clinical course was characterized by multiple sequential abdomiients with multiple metachronous sequential metastases from RCC.
An aneurysm of the left atrial appendage is one of the rare but potentially hazardous heart defects. The risk of lethal complications grows with its size. To date, about 150 cases of this defect have been described in the literature. We present a case of left atrial appendage aneurysm with the deformation of the mitral valve and the left main coronary and circumflex artery, which required mitral valve annuloplasty and bifurcation stenting.
A 58-year-old man presented to our hospital complaining of shortness of breath, general weakness, dizziness during physical exertion, and fatigue. Based on the results of echocardiography, an aneurysm of the left atrium was suspected. A free-breathing real-time cine magnetic resonance imaging with electrocardiograph synchronization confirmed the diagnosis of left atrial appendage aneurysm. The patient underwent an aneurysmectomy
a median sternotomy with cardiopulmonary bypass. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography revealed relative mitral insufficiency that was corrected with an annuloplasty ring. Intraoperative coronary angiogram showed impaired blood flow in the left main coronary and circumflex artery and 60% stenosis. For this reason, bifurcation stenting was performed. The patient had an uneventful postoperative clinical course and was discharged from the hospital on the 10th day in a satisfactory condition.

The status of COVID-19 epidemic in over 60 most affected countries was characterized. The data of daily new cases of each country were collected from Worldometer. The data of daily tests for the United States, Italy, and South Korea were collected from the Website of One World Data. Levels of daily positive COVID-19 tests in the two most affected states of the United States (New York and New Jersey) were collected from the website of the COVID Tracking Project. Statistics were analyzed using Microcal Origin software with ANOVA algorithm, and significance level was set at a
value of 0.05.

Chronic pancreatitis is associated with pancreatic cancer (PC), although the relationship between acute pancreatitis (AP) and the risk of PC remains unclear due to inconsistent and contradictory results.
To conduct a meta-analysis of retrospective and prospective studies to explore the association between AP and PC risk.
We first searched original articles on the association of AP with PC using PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, and EMBASE databases. Then we calculated the combined overall effect estimates (EEs) between AP and PC risk at a 95% confidence interval (CI) deploying a random-effects model, and assessed heterogeneity using the
