We found that high vs. low EXT trait participants reported elevated substance use, BIS-11, SR, and SURPS impulsivity scores, had a greater prevalence of psychiatric disorders, and exhibited higher [18F]fallypride binding potential (BPND) values in prefrontal, limbic and paralimbic regions, even when controlling for substance use. selleck kinase inhibitor Group differences were not evident in midbrain dopamine cell body regions, but, across all participants, low midbrain BPND values were associated with low SP scores. Together, the results suggest that altered DA2/3R availability in terminal extra-striatal and dopamine cell body regions might constitute biological vulnerability traits, generating an EXT trajectory for addictions with and without co-occurring alterations in punishment sensitivity (i.e., an internalizing feature).INTRODUCTION The pituitary gland has a high expression of somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) and is therefore a potential organ at risk for radiation-induced toxicity after 177Lu-DOTATATE treatment. OBJECTIVE To study changes in pituitary function in patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) treated with dosimetry-based 177Lu-DOTATATE to detect possible late toxicity. METHODS 68 patients from a phase II clinical trial of dosimetry-based, individualized 177Lu-DOTATATE-therapy were included in this analysis. Patients had received a median of 5 (range 3-9) treatment cycles of 7.4 GBq/cycle. Median follow-up was 30 months (range 11-89). The GH/IGF1-axis, gonadotropins, adrenal and thyroid axes were analyzed from baseline and on a yearly basis thereafter. Percent changes in hormonal levels over time were analyzed statistically using a linear mixed model and described graphically using boxplots. The absorbed radiation dose to the pituitary was estimated based on post-therapeutic imaging, and the results analyzed vs % change in IGF1-levels over time. RESULTS A statistically significant decrease in the levels of IGF1 was found (p less then 0.005), which was correlated to the number of treatment cycles (p=0.008) and absorbed radiation dose (p=0.03). A similar decrease, although non-significant, was seen in the gonadotropins in post-menopausal women, while in men there was an increase during the first years post-therapy, after which the levels returned to baseline. No change was observed in the adrenal nor thyroid axes. CONCLUSIONS No signs of severe endocrine disorder were detected, although a significant decrease in the GH/IGF1-axis was found, where dosimetric analyses indicate radiation-induced damage to the pituitary gland as a probable cause. © 2020 S. SUMMARY A few days later, the genome of a novel coronavirus was released (http//viro-logical.org/t/novel-2019-coronavirus-genome/319; Wuhan-Hu-1, GenBank accession No. MN908947) and made publicly available to the scientific community. This novel coronavirus was provisionally named 2019-nCoV, now SARS-CoV-2 according to the Coronavirus Study Group of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the Coronaviridae family, Betacoronavirus genus, subgenus Sarbecovirus. Since its discovery, the virus has spread globally, causing thousands of deaths and having an enormous impact on our health systems and economies. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge about the epidemiology, phylogenesis, homology modeling, and molecular diagnostics of SARS-CoV-2. Key Messages Phylogenetic analysis is essential to understand viral evolution, whereas homology modeling is important for vaccine strategies and therapies. Highly sensitive and specific diagnostic assays are key to case identification, contact tracing, identification of the animal source, and implementation of control measures. © 2020 S. Due to the current importance of cytological samples in the diagnoses and molecular analysis to set up the utmost management of lung cancer patients, cytologists from different countries shared the experience of their institutions. The place of the cytological samples gains more and more importance on the potential long-term survival gain through personalized medicine and this harbors the improvement of the guidelines both in pathology and cytology field. In this symposium, the new 6-tiered reporting system for pulmonary cytology proposed by the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology and detailed cytomorphological approach to lung carcinoma including lookalike lesions and DNA- and RNA-based analysis of cytology material have been discussed. The cytopathologist plays a pivotal role in ensuring success of a correct triage for the cytology material to be sure of the adequacy and quality of the yield from the rapid on-site evaluation till the report which should encompass molecular profile in rational patient management. © 2020 S. In eligible patients, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is an option to consolidate hematological remissions. Here, we report our experience with 10 patients who received allo-HSCT against T-PLL. Notably, 3 patients with complete remission at transplantation and durable full-donor chimerism relapsed at months 12, 59, and 84 after transplantation, respectively. This relapse was associated with rapid progressive leukemia in 1 patient and extralymphatic lymphoma growth in the other 2. Despite CD52 positivity at relapse, alemtuzumab retreatment, donor lymphocyte infusions, and/or chemotherapy including salvage therapy, allo-HSCT yielded a transient partial response, only. Alemtuzumab induction and consolidative allo-HSCT enabled prolonged disease-free survival in these patients but failed to procure cure. © 2020 S. The present overview aimed at analyzing the literature to illustrate withdrawal after decrease, discontinuation, or switch of psychotropic medications based on the drug class (i.e., benzodiazepines, nonbenzodiazepine benzodiazepine receptor agonists, antidepressants, ketamine, antipsychotics, lithium, mood stabilizers) according to the diagnostic criteria of Chouinard and Chouinard [Psychother Psychosom. 2015;84(2)63-71], which encompass new withdrawal symptoms, rebound symptoms, and persistent post-withdrawal disorders. All these drugs may induce withdrawal syndromes and rebound upon discontinuation, even with slow tapering. However, only selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors, and antipsychotics were consistently also associated with persistent post-withdrawal disorders and potential high severity of symptoms, including alterations of clinical course, whereas the distress associated with benzodiazepines discontinuation appears to be short-lived.
