Recently, a novel coronavirus (SARS-COV-2) emerged which is responsible for the recent outbreak in Wuhan, China. Genetically, it is closely related to SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. The situation is getting worse and worse, therefore, there is an urgent need for designing a suitable peptide vaccine component against the SARS-COV-2. Here, we characterized spike glycoprotein to obtain immunogenic epitopes. Next, we chose 13 Major Histocompatibility Complex-(MHC) I and 3 MHC-II epitopes, having antigenic properties. These epitopes are usually linked to specific linkers to build vaccine components and molecularly dock on toll-like receptor-5 to get binding affinity. Therefore, to provide a fast immunogenic profile of these epitopes, we performed immunoinformatics analysis so that the rapid development of the vaccine might bring this disastrous situation to the end earlier. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cervical cancer-promoting element that is transmitted through sexual routes. Anal, head, and throat cancers are also reported to be accompanied by HPV infection. E6 is one of the HPV nonstructural proteins, which is responsible for cell differentiation by targeting tumor suppressor genes, p105Rb and p53. E6 was reported to be stabilized by two chaperone proteins; glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) and heat shock protein 90. GRP78 is responsible for the unfolded protein response of the cells, and it was reported to be upregulated in many cancers, including cervical cancer. It was reported that knocking out GRP78 destabilizes E6 leading to faster degradation of E6 in vivo. The current work predicts the possible binding mode between E6 and GRP78 based on sequence and structural similarities. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.We aimed to identify the determinants of partial remission in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM), and whether there is an influence of vaccination against measles on partial remission. This was a retrospective study consisting of consecutive patients diagnosed with type 1 DM followed-up from 1 September 2010, through 30 November 2011. The study included children vaccinated within 3 months after diagnosis, and children unvaccinated during the first 12 months of the disease. The daily insulin dose, hemoglobin A1c, and C-peptide levels, and whether children are in partial remission based on the insulin dose-adjusted HbA1c were recorded at diagnosis and 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, and 36 months. A total of 55 children with type 1 DM were analyzed. Thirty-one patients (56.4%) reached partial remission during the follow-up period, whereas 24 of them did not. Patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) at diagnosis were less likely to reach partial remission than patients without DKA (odds ratio [OR], 0.24; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.062-0.946; P = .038). Patients vaccinated against measles were more likely to be in partial remission than patients unvaccinated (OR, 4.2; 95% CI, 1.35-13; P = .011). We investigated whether rhIGF-1 therapy 1) improves or preserves muscle function; and 2) improves growth in boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). METHODS In this study we compared prepubescent, ambulatory, glucocorticoid-treated boys with DMD (n = 17) vs controls (glucocorticoid therapy only, n = 21) in a 6-month-long, prospective, randomized, controlled trial of subcutaneous rhIGF-1 therapy. The primary outcome was 6-minute walk distance (6MWD). Secondary outcomes included height velocity (HV), change in height standard deviation score (ΔHtSDS), motor function, cardiopulmonary function, body composition, insulin sensitivity, quality of life, and safety. RESULTS Change in 6MWD was similar between groups (rhIGF-1 vs controls [mean ± SD] 3.4 ± 32.4 vs -5.1 ± 50.2 meters, P = .53). Treated subjects grew more than controls (HV 6.5 ± 1.7 vs 3.3 ± 1.3 cm/year, P less then .0001; 6-month ΔHtSDS 0.25, P less then .0001). Lean mass and insulin sensitivity increased in treated subjects. Advances in the prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of alloimmune-induced fetal anemia make this condition an exemplar for contemporary practice in fetal therapy. Since survival is now an expectation, attention has turned to optimization of long-term outcomes following an alloimmunized pregnancy. In this review, the current management of red cell alloimmunization is described. Current research and future directions are discussed with particular emphasis on later life outcomes after alloimmune fetal anemia. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.So far, there is a lack of effective drugs for the new coronavirus pneumonia. With more and more patients diagnosed, China has carried out more than 100 clinical studies of new coronavirus infection, including antiviral drugs, antimalarial drugs, glucocorticoids, plasma therapy, virus vaccine, and other Western drugs, while Chinese medicine research accounted for half of the studies. Most of the trials were initiated by investigators and the study period would last for 1 to 11 months. The primary endpoints included symptom improvement and virus nucleic acid turning negative, but the optimal endpoint has not been determined. Although the final results of studies will take a long time to complete, the interim research data may provide some help for the current urgent demand for drug treatment. Compared with that of during SARS period in 2003, China has the stronger capability to carry out clinical trials of new drugs in emergency period. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
