using routine clinical protocols are comparable between conventional CT and spectral photon-counting CT. • In comparison with conventional CT, increased coronary artery calcium detectability was shown for spectral photon-counting CT due to increased spatial resolution. • Volumes scores were more accurately determined with spectral photon-counting CT.

A recent treatment algorithm suggests that proximal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears with good-to-excellent tissue quality are amenable to primary repair. Our primary objective was to assess the ability of MRI to determine the exact tear location and tissue quality, using arthroscopy as a reference standard.

In an initial sample of 71 patients with prior ACL surgery (repair or reconstruction), the diagnostic accuracy of MRI was assessed using arthroscopy as a reference standard. Each native ACL tear was graded according to Sherman's arthroscopic classifications during the surgical procedure. MRI scans were retrospectively reviewed for grading, blinded to arthroscopic findings and in consensus by two musculoskeletal radiologists. Tear location and tissue quality were graded using the MRI Sherman tear location (MSTL), MRI Sherman tissue quality (MSTQ) and simplified MRI Sherman tissue quality (S-MSTQ) classifications. Intra- and inter-observer agreement was assessed on a second sample of 77 patients. ligament stump signal criterion, was better than that observed with the MRI Sherman tissue quality classification, but was moderate to good in terms of inter- and intra-observer agreement.

• MRI seems to be accurate in assessing tear location and tissue quality and may help clinicians to predict the reparability of ACL tears. • High intra-observer agreement was demonstrated when grading the tear location into one of five types. • The diagnostic accuracy of the simplified MRI tissue quality classification, involving deletion of the ligament stump signal criterion, was better than that observed with the MRI Sherman tissue quality classification, but was moderate to good in terms of inter- and intra-observer agreement.

This study aimed to use the most frequent features to establish a vertebral MRI-based radiomics model that could differentiate multiple myeloma (MM) from metastases and compare the model performance with different features number.

We retrospectively analyzed conventional MRI (T1WI and fat-suppression T2WI) of 103 MM patients and 138 patients with metastases. The feature selection process included four steps. The first three steps defined as conventional feature selection (CFS), carried out 50 times (ten times with 5-fold cross-validation), included variance threshold, SelectKBest, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator. The most frequent fixed features were selected for modeling during the last step. The number of events per independent variable (EPV) is the number of patients in a smaller subgroup divided by the number of radiomics features considered in developing the prediction model. The EPV values considered were 5, 10, 15, and 20. Therefore, we constructed four models using the top 16, model could distinguish metastases from multiple myeloma based on conventional vertebral MRI. • An accurate model based on just a handful of the most frequent features could be constructed by utilizing multiple feature reduction techniques. • An event per independent variable value of 10 is recommended as a rule of thumb for modeling feature selection.Tissue fillers injections remain to be one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures. The aim of this meta-analysis was to systematize and present available data on the aesthetic outcomes and safety of treating the nasolabial fold area with tissue fillers. We conducted a systematic review of randomized clinical trials that report outcomes concerning treatment of nasolabial fold area with tissue fillers. We searched the MEDLINE/PubMed, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, BIOSIS, SciELO, Scopus, Cochrane Controlled Register of Trials, CNKI and Web of Science databases. Primary outcomes included aesthetic improvement measured using the Wrinkle Severity Rating Scale score and Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale. Secondary outcomes were incidence rates of complications occurring after the procedure. At baseline, the pooled mean WSRS score was 3.23 (95% CI 3.20-3.26). One month after the procedure, the pooled WSRS score had reached 1.79 (95% CI 1.74-1.83). After six months it was 2.02 (95% CI 1.99-2.05) and after 12 months it was 2.46 (95% CI 2.4-2.52). One month after the procedure, the pooled GAIS score had reached 2.21 (95% CI 2.14-2.28). After six months, it was 2.32 (95% CI 2.26-2.37), and after 12 months, it was 1.27 (95% CI 1.12-1.42). Overall, the pooled incidence of all complications was 0.58 (95% CI 0.46-0.7). Most common included lumpiness (43%), tenderness (41%), swelling (34%) and bruising (29%). Tissue fillers used for nasolabial fold area treatment allow achieving a satisfying and sustainable improvement. Most common complications include tenderness, lumpiness, swelling, and bruising. Six different traditional fermented foods i.e., fermented fish, fermented soybeans, Soibum (fermented bamboo shoots), milk, idly and dosa batter were used for the isolation of bacteriocin producing Lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Among all bacterial cultures isolated from the various sources, 129 cultures have found to produce antimicrobial compounds. Nisin specific reporter bacteria was utilized as biosensor to identify the Nisin like bacteriocin, where 10 cultures found to be positive Nisin producer. Identified Nisin like bacteriocin was partially concentrated by using ammonium sulphate followed by butanol extraction. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was analyzed against food borne pathogen and drug resistant bacteria. learn more MIC of partially purified Nisin (pp-Nisin) of all the LAB isolates against food-borne pathogens are ranged between 0.
