after 1 year or at baseline, significantly affected the outpatient visits and may have increased medical expenditures. Combined change in frailty status and number of outpatient visits is related to increased mortality.
Female genital mutilation (FGM) is commonly practiced in Iraqi Kurdistan Region, where there are extensive efforts to combat the practice over the last decade. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/heparan-sulfate.html This study aimed to determine the trends and changes in the FGM prevalence in Iraq between 2011 and 2018 and assess their associated factors.
Secondary data analysis of the Iraq Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 2011 and 2018 was carried out to calculate the prevalence and the relative changes in the prevalence of FGM for 2011 and 2018 by governorate. The change in the prevalence was compared with the changes in other exposure variables such as age, education level, wealth, and area of residence over the same period.
The prevalence of FGM in 2018 was high in Erbil and Suleimaniya governorates (50.1% and 45.1%). The prevalence of FGM decreased remarkably from 2011 to 2018 in all governorates of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The decrease in the prevalence was statistically significant in Erbil and Suleimaniya. FGM prevalence declined remarkably in alrimary role in decreasing the prevalence and should be considered in future efforts to ban the practice.
The trend of FGM in Iraqi Kurdistan Region declined remarkably and significantly from 2011 to 2018. Further decline is predicted because of having lower rates and a higher decline in the younger age groups. However, the rates remained high in Erbil and Suleimaniya governorates that need further intensifying the preventive measures. The education level of women plays a primary role in decreasing the prevalence and should be considered in future efforts to ban the practice.
Vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is a prominent and widespread public health problem in developing countries, including Bangladesh. About 2% of all deaths among under-five children are attributable to VAD. Evidence-based information is required to understand the influential factors to increase vitamin A supplementation (VAS) coverage and reduce VAD. We investigated the potential factors affecting VAS coverage and its significant predictors among Bangladeshi children aged 6 to 59 months using the VAS clustered data extracted from the latest Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey 2014.
Data were analysed using mixed logistic regression (MLR) modelling approach in the generalised linear mixed model framework. The MLR model performs better than logistic regression for analysing the clustered data because of its minimum Akaike information criterion value. The likelihood ratio test showed that the variance component was significant. Therefore, the clustering effect among children was inevitable to use.
VAS coverage among under-five children was 63.6%, which is not optimal and below the WHO's recommendation and the country's target of 90%. Children aged 25 to 36 months (AOR = 2.07, 95% CI 1.711 to 2.513), who had higher educated mothers (AOR = 1.37, p = 0.033, 95% CI 1.026-1.820) and fathers (AOR = 1.32, p = 0.027, 95% CI 1.032-1.683), whose mothers had media exposure (AOR = 1.22, p = 0.006, 95% CI 1.059-1.408) and NGO membership (AOR = 1.24, p = 0.002, 95% CI 1.089-1.422) were more likely to consume VAS.
The relevant authorities should create proactive awareness programs for highly vulnerable local communities, specifically targeted to educate the children's mothers about the necessity and benefits of childhood nutrition.

Acupuncture for post-stroke depression (PSD) has been evolving, but uncertainty remains. To assess the existing evidence from randomized clinical trials (RCTs) of acupuncture for PSD, we sought to draw conclusions by synthesizing RCTs.
An exhaustive literature search was conducted in seven electronic databases from their inception dates to April 19, 2020, to identify systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs) on this topic. The primary RCTs included in the SRs/MAs were identified. We also conducted a supplementary search for RCTs published from January 1, 2015, to May 12, 2020. Two reviewers extracted data separately and pooled data using RevMan 5.3 software. The quality of evidence was critically appraised with the Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system.
A total of 17 RCTs involving 1402 patients were included. Meta-analysis showed that participants who received a combination of acupuncture and conventional treatments exhibited significantly lower scores ow indicates that acupuncture has greater effect on PSD and better safety profile than antidepressants, but high-quality evidence evaluating acupuncture for PSD is still needed.
The current review indicates that acupuncture has greater effect on PSD and better safety profile than antidepressants, but high-quality evidence evaluating acupuncture for PSD is still needed.
As septic arthritis is time-dependent and has a propensity for irreversible joint damage, early diagnosis and treatment are needed. Frequently, adult patients with septic arthritis cannot undergo invasive surgery because of comorbidities and a weakened immune system. Hip arthroscopic irrigation and debridement for native acute septic arthritis of the hip joint have been performed as the first choice of treatment for patients of all ages. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of arthroscopic management for native acute septic arthritis of the hip joint in adult patients.
Five adult patients (mean age, 46.2 years; all male) were retrospectively reviewed. Immediately after diagnosis, all patients underwent hip arthroscopic irrigation, debridement with synovectomy, and drainage. Partial weight-bearing was permitted once the C-reactive protein level normalised to < 1.0 mg/dl. Preoperative comorbidities, bacterial culture results, surgical complications, duration of hospital stay, time-to-confirmed normalisation of the C-reactive protein level, and recurrence incidence were evaluated.
