30 [CI; 1.12-1.50]; P<.001). In Kaplan-Meier analysis, the development of obesity was significantly higher in kidney donors with high SUA level.
Living kidney donors (LKD) have a tendency to obesity after nephrectomy. Preoperative serum uric acid level gives important information in LKDs that it could foresee the development of obesity after donation.

Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation has become a recommended treatment option for patients with severe hypothermia with cardiac arrest. Minimal invasive extracorporeal circulation (MiECC) may offer advantages over the current standard extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
Retrospective cohort analysis of hospital database for patients with accidental hypothermia and extracorporeal rewarming with MiECC admitted between 2010 and 2019.
Overall, six of 17 patients survived to hospital discharge. Eleven patients suffered accidental hypothermia in an alpine and six in an urban setting. Sixteen patients arrived at the hospital under ongoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). CPR time was 90minutes (0-150). Four patients survived from an alpine setting and two from an urban setting with CPR duration of 90minutes (0-150) and 85minutes (25-100), respectively. Asphyctic patients tended to have lower survival (one of seven patients). Two patients of six with major trauma survived.
MiECC for extracorporeal rewarming from severe accidental hypothermia is a feasible alternative to ECMO, with comparable survival rates.

To understand how pain affects physical and mental health-related quality of life during the third trimester of pregnancy.
Poor health-related quality of life during pregnancy is associated with adverse maternal foetal health outcomes such as increased risk of low-birth-weight neonates. Poor health-related quality of life is linked to pain, pain interference and anxiety in the general adult population. However, we do not know how pain, pain interference (i.e., interference of pain with patient function), and anxiety are interrelated during the third trimester of pregnancy.
This exploratory cross-sectional study followed STROBE guidelines. A mobile educational and tracking pregnancy application was used to obtain a racially/ethnically diverse convenience sample of 141 third trimester pregnant women from the U. S. In this sample, 58.2% of women had commercial health insurance, 68.8% were Caucasian, 86.5% were younger than 35years, and 85.1% had a partner. Women completed demographics, Edinburgh Postnatal es should assess for pain interference and anxiety in women experiencing moderate to severe pain during the third trimester of pregnancy. With this knowledge, nurses may advocate for women in receiving effective treatment for their conditions and improvements in their physical and mental health-related quality of life.
Health care and treatment should be voluntary, but restraint is often used during treatment of children. Knowledge about how health care providers respond to preschool children's resistance is lacking and can help understand current paediatric care in hospitals. The aim of the present article was to provide knowledge about how healthcare providers respond to preschool children's resistance during the clinical procedure of peripheral vein cannulation.
An explorative qualitative research design was developed for this study.
Observations with video recording were used to collect data. Eight nurses and seven physicians participated in the study (n=15). Their responses to preschool children's (n=6) resistance were studied during 14 attempts of peripheral vein cannulation. Consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ) were used.
The healthcare providers made 380 responses to children's resistive expressions, interpreted within four main types, responses to acknowledge the child, responsesing peripheral vein cannulation and other clinical procedures and to elaborate on their use of responses that can be considered intrinsically less child-friendly.
Due to an expected surge of COVID-19 patients in need of mechanical ventilation, the intensive care capacity was doubled at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, in March 2020. This resulted in an urgent need for doctors with competence in working with critically ill COVID-19 patients. A training course and a theoretical test for non-intensivist doctors were developed. The aims of this study were to gather validity evidence for the theoretical test and explore the effects of the course.
The 1-day course was comprised of theoretical sessions and hands-on training in ventilator use, hemodynamic monitoring, vascular access, and use of personal protective equipment. Validity evidence was gathered for the test by comparing answers from novices and experts in intensive care. Doctors who participated in the course completed the test before (pretest), after (posttest), and again within 8weeks following the course (retention test).
Fifty-four non-intensivist doctors from 15 different specialties with a wide range in clinical experience level completed the course. The test consisted of 23 questions and demonstrated a credible pass-fail standard at 16 points. Mean pretest score was 11.9 (SD 3.0), mean posttest score 20.6 (1.8), and mean retention test score 17.4 (2.2). All doctors passed the posttest.
Non-intensivist doctors, irrespective of experience level, can acquire relevant knowledge for working in the ICU through a focused 1-day evidence-based course. This knowledge was largely retained as shown by a multiple-choice test supported by validity evidence. The test is available in appendix and online.
