Hepatectomy is one potential treatment for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC). Recurrent rate is high after curative resection and most recurrences occur within residual liver parenchyma. The aim of this study was to elucidate the impact of different treatment modalities on recurrent diseases in patients with IHCC after primary liver resection.

Between February 1999 and December 2015, we retrospectively identified patients who received curative resection for IHCC. Patients who experienced recurrences were included. Locoregional therapies included re-hepatectomy, radiofrequent ablation, and transhepatic arterial chemoembolization. These patients were categorized into three groups intrahepatic recurrence without locoregional therapies (group A), intrahepatic recurrence with locoregional therapies (group B) and extrahepatic metastases (group C).

Forty-three patients were included and there were 12, 15, and 16 patients in groups A, B, and C, respectively. The median disease-free survival times were 8.3, 9.1, and 8.7 months in groups A, B, and C (

 = 0.099). The median after-recurrence overall survival times (period between recurrence and death/censor) were 6.4, 34.0, and 8.3 months in groups A, B, and C (

Locoregional therapies offered favorable benefits for patients with recurrent intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.Jisuikang (JSK) is an herbal formula composed of many kinds of traditional Chinese medicine, which has been proved to be effective in promoting the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) after more than ten years of clinical application. However, the mechanisms of JSK promoting nerve regeneration are yet to be clarified. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of JSK protecting neurons, specifically the regulation of NgR/RhoA/ROCK signal pathway. The motor function of rats was evaluated by the BBB score and inclined plate test, Golgi staining and transmission electron microscope were used to observe the microstructure of nerve tissue, and fluorescence double-labeling method was used to detect neuronal apoptosis. In this study, we found that JSK could improve the motor function of rats with SCI, protect the microstructure (mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and dendritic spine) of neurons, and reduce the apoptosis rate of neurons in rats with SCI. In addition, JSK could inhibit the expression of Nogo receptor (NgR) in neurons and the NgR/RhoA/ROCK signal pathway in rats with SCI. These results indicated JSK could improve the motor function of rats with SCI by inhibiting the NgR/RhoA/ROCK signal pathway, which suggests the potential applicability of JSK as a nerve regeneration agent.We successfully extracted isoliquiritigenin from Glycyrrhiza uralensis via fermentation with Aspergillus niger and ultrasonic-assisted extraction. In brief, we used A. niger fermentation to culture G. uralensis powder, and we optimized some key parameters such as reaction conditions of pH, inoculation concentration of A. niger, fermentation time, and solid-liquid ratio. Based on a single-factor experiment, we utilized the response surface methodology (RSM) approach to optimize this extraction procedure. Using the RSM approach, optimized conditions of pH = 3.694, the solid-liquid ratio = 1  2.155, and the inoculation concentration of A. niger = 1466745 were selected. Optimized conditions resulted in an extraction efficiency of 1.525 mg/g. These results showed that the extraction of isoliquiritigenin was most affected by pH and then the time of fermentation and the solid-liquid ratio. Overall, the developed extraction technique yielded 5 times the amount of isoliquiritigenin when compared to traditional methods.

Among those selected, 11 articles reported in vivo research results, and 10 articles showed research results.
