RESULTS Women identified barriers to eating well or being physically active, and pregnancy-specific issues like nausea and pain were common. Women's interest in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and their engagement with lifestyle support was related to the extent to which they self-identified as healthy people. Health-disengaged women were disinterested in talking about their lifestyles while health-focused women did not feel that they needed extra support. Women between these ends of the 'health identity' spectrum were interested in improving their health, and were able to identify barriers as well as sources of support. CONCLUSIONS Lifestyle interventions in pregnancy should be adapted to meet the needs of individuals with different health identities, and encouraging a change in health identity may be one way of supporting sustained change in health behaviours.BACKGROUND Investigating distinct individual- and household-level risk factors for acquiring Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection can inform disease prevention efforts and implicate possible routes of transmission. This study determined the magnitude of H. pylori infection among schoolchildren in Ziway, central Ethiopia and identified personal and household correlates of H. pylori infection in young Ethiopian children. METHODS A total of 434 schoolchildren participated in this cross-sectional study. Infection status was assessed using antigen and antibody rapid tests. Demographic and lifestyle information was obtained from parents via an interviewer-led questionnaire. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were performed to assess the relationships between potential individual- and household-level risk factors and H. pylori infection. RESULTS The prevalence of H. pylori infection was 65.7% (285/434). Of the personal variables assessed, the age group 10-14 years was found to be significantly associated with higher odds of H. pylori infection in univariate analysis (COR = 2.22, 95% CI 1.06-4.66, p = 0.03) and remained positively correlated after adjusting for confounding factors. HHT inhibitor mw Of the household-level factors explored, having a traditional pit or no toilet was found to be significantly associated with 3.93-fold higher odds of H. pylori infection (AOR = 3.93, 95% CI 1.51-10.3, p = 0.01), while the presence of smokers in the household was associated with 68% lower odds of infection (AOR = 0.32, 95% CI 0.11-0.89, p = 0.03). CONCLUSION This study from a developing country provides additional evidence for older age as a personal risk factor for H. pylori infection and identifies correlations between socioeconomic and sanitation household factors and positive childhood infection status. The associations reported here support the hypothesized fecal-oralroute of transmission for H. pylori.BACKGROUND Propagation of cuttings is frequently used in various plant species, including blueberry, which shows special root characteristics that may hinder adventitious root (AR) formation. AR formation is influenced by various factors, and auxin is considered to play a central role; however, little is known of the related regulatory mechanisms. In this study, a comparative transcriptome analysis of green cuttings treated with or without indole-butyric acid (IBA) was performed via RNA_seq to identify candidate genes associated with IBA-induced AR formation. RESULTS Rooting phenotypes, especially the rooting rate, were significantly promoted by exogenous auxin in the IBA application. Blueberry AR formation was an auxin-induced process, during which adventitious root primordium initiation (rpi) began at 14 days after cutting (DAC), root primordium (rp) was developed at 21 DAC, mature AR was observed at 28 DAC and finally outgrowth from the stem occurred at 35 DAC. Higher IAA levels and lower ABA and zeatin coensive understanding of the rooting mechanism underlying the auxin-induced AR formation from blueberry green cuttings.BACKGROUND INTELLiVENT-ASV® (I-ASV) is a closed-loop ventilation mode that automatically controls the ventilation settings. Although a number of studies have reported the usefulness of I-ASV, the clinical situations in which it may be useful have not yet been clarified. We aimed to report our initial 3 years of experience using I-ASV, particularly the clinical conditions and the technical and organizational factors associated with its use. Furthermore, we evaluated the usefulness of I-ASV and determined the predictive factors for successful management with I-ASV. METHODS This single-center, retrospective observational study included patients who were ventilated using the Hamilton G5® ventilator (Hamilton Medical AG, Rhäzüns, Switzerland) from January 2016 to December 2018. The patients were categorized into the "I-ASV success" group and "I-ASV failure" group (those receiving mechanical ventilation with I-ASV along with any other mode). Multivariate analysis was performed to identify factors associated with sue successful management of I-ASV. To improve I-ASV management, it is necessary to focus on patient-ventilator interactions.BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the changes in molecules related to perineuronal nets (PNNs) and synaptic transporters in the primary auditory cortices of rats with noise-induced hearing loss. Female Sprague-Dawley rats at postnatal day 7 were divided into the noise and control groups. Four hours of 115 dB SPL white noise was delivered for 10 days to the noise group. Thirty days after noise exposure, the primary auditory cortex and the inferior colliculus were harvested. The expression levels of vesicular glutamatergic transporter (VGLUT)1, VGLUT2, vesicular GABA transporter (VGAT), glutamate decarboxylase (GAD)67, brevican, aggrecan, MMP9, and MMP14 were evaluated using real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction or western blot. An immunofluorescence assay was conducted to assess parvalbumin (PV), Wisteria floribunda agglutinin (WFA), and brevican. The immune-positive cells were counted in the primary auditory cortex. RESULTS The expression level of VGLUT1 in the primary auditory cortex was decreased in the noise group.
