Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is common in older adults, affects quality of life (QoL), and may represent the earliest clinical manifestation of cognitive decline evolving to dementia. Still little is known about factors associated with SCD.

(1) Assess the associations between SCD and demographic, social, clinical, and personality characteristics as well as QoL, with and without adjustment for objective cognitive performance, and (2) investigate the relations between neuroticism, QoL, and SCD.

Cross-sectional analysis of a cohort of 1567 dementia-free community-dwellers from the urban area of Lausanne, Switzerland, aged 64 years and older (mean age 70.9±4.7 years), from CoLaus/PsyCoLaus. SCD was assessed using a validated 10-item questionnaire. Personality traits, QoL, and perceived social support were evaluated using self-report measures. Information on depression and anxiety status and socioeconomic characteristics including professional activity were elicited using a semi-structured interview. Creduce cognitive complaints, improve QoL, and prevent cognitive decline in general population. The first iron-catalyzed defluorosilylation of unactivated gem-difluoroalkenes was developed, delivering gem-disilylated alkenes and (E)-silylated alkenes with excellent efficiency. This protocol features good functional group compatibility and excellent regio- and stereoselectivity, enabling the late-stage silylation of biologically relevant compounds, thus providing good opportunities for applications in medicinal chemistry. Navarixin Preliminary mechanistic studies and DFT calculations reveal that a nucleophilic addition and elimination of the second C-F bond might be involved in the disilylation catalytic system, demonstrating unusual reactivity characteristics of iron catalysis.Superficial epidermolytic ichthyosis (formerly Ichthyosis bullosa of Siemens) is an uncommon condition caused by dominant mutations in KRT2 encoding keratin 2. Epidermolytic epidermal nevus due to somatic mutations in KRT2 is even rarer. Here, we report the third case of KRT2-associated epidermal nevus and review the literature.

To investigate the effect of trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage device implantation on posture related intraocular pressure (IOP) changes in glaucomatous eyes.

Eyes in this prospective study were divided into three groups those that underwent Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation (Ahmed group), those that underwent trabeculectomy with mitomycin C (trabeculectomy group) and those treated medically (medication group). IOP was measured in the sitting position, and after 15min in the left lateral decubitus position using a Tonopen XL, and a Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT). For GAT measurements in the left lateral decubitus position, we used a specialized system comprised of a motorized bed attached to a modified slit-lamp table.

111 eyes of 64 glaucoma patients were included in the analysis 19 in the Ahmed group, 46 in the trabeculectomy group and 46 in the medication group. The difference in IOP between the sitting and supine positions was significant in the medication (2.23mmHg) and trabeculectomy (1.48mmHg) groups, but not in the Ahmed group (0.53mmHg). This significance was reached with the GAT, but not with the Tonopen. A rise of 5mmHg or more between the sitting and supine positions was documented in 5.2%, 4.3% and 15.2% of eyes in the Ahmed, trabeculectomy and medication groups, respectively. Intraclass correlation coefficient for IOP measurements in the supine position demonstrated good correlation between the two tonometers.

Ahmed valve surgery significantly reduces postural IOP response as compared with medically treated controls. There was no significant difference between Ahmed valve and trabeculectomy in terms of their effect on the postural IOP change.

To assess the clinical utility of the Distress Thermometer (DT) in non-cancer populations.

The search was performed between the 6th and the 18th of April 2020, on the following databases Web of Science (all databases included), Scopus and Science Direct. One last update was performed on 5 June 2020. The findings were reported using the PRISMA-ScR.

Fifty-three studies were included. Overall results indicated that this tool has been used in several contexts and populations (clinical and non-clinical). The DT is highly accessible, suitable and relevant for health professionals and/or researchers who aim to use it as a distress screening tool, particularly in patients with chronic physical conditions. Assumptions about its practicality and acceptability in non-oncology care should be made with caution since few studies have explored the psychometric qualities of this instrument, the completers' perceptions about completing the DT and the perceptions of health professionals who administer the tool.

This lack of information undermines conclusions about the overall clinical utility of the DT as a screening tool for distress in individuals who do not have cancer.

Future research should aim to fill this gap and investigate the psychometric qualities of the DT through validation studies and, thus, increase the rigour of its application and clinical utility in non-oncological contexts.

Vierh. The structures of compounds 1-3 were established on the basis of extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic techniques in combination with HR-ESI-MS. The ability of the isolated compounds to inhibit acetylcholine esterase activity was evaluated. Compound 3 showed the highest acetylcholine esterase inhibitory activity (IC50 0.056±0.003 μM), followed by compound 1 (IC50 0.088±0.005 μM) and compound 2 (IC50 0.140±0.007 μM) compared to donepezil (IC50 0.035±0.002 μM). This was further confirmed by molecular docking experiment.
