Atomoxetine is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor used for treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Prescribing information from the manufacturer lists genitourinary-related adverse events such as urinary hesitancy/retention and priapism as precautions for atomoxetine. We report a case of urinary hesitancy with milky, white-colored discharge associated with atomoxetine use in a 42-year-old male. The onset of genitourinary symptoms occurred within 2 days of atomoxetine 40 mg daily initiation. Laboratories, urinalysis, sexually transmitted infection analysis, and genital examinations were all unremarkable. Within 2 days of atomoxetine discontinuation, the genitourinary symptoms were no longer present. We calculated a Naranjo adverse event score of 5, indicating atomoxetine probably caused the genitourinary adverse events. A review of literature suggests that urine outflow obstruction-related adverse events occur more commonly in men compared to women. Discontinuation of atomoxetine appears to lead to rapid resolution of the adverse events. Additionally, spontaneous ejaculation and sexual side effects rarely occur with atomoxetine. Clinicians should educate and monitor patients explicitly for genitourinary-related adverse events, as they may not be spontaneously reported.The sugarcane (Saccharum X officinarum) is one of the most important crops used to produce sugar and raw material for biofuel in the world. One of the main causes for sucrose content and yield losses is the attack by insect. In this investigation, cry1Ac gene was introduced into sugarcane variety GT54-9(C9) using the Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformation method for transgenic sugarcane production presenting insect-resistance. The A. tumefaciens strain GV1303 including pARTcry1Ac vector was used for the production of transformed sugarcane. The Bacillus thuringiensis cry gene were successfully used to produce transgenic plants used for the improvement of both agronomic efficiency and product quality by acquiring insect resistance. PCR and Southern hybridization techniques were used to confirm the cry1Ac gene incorporation into sugarcane genome. Transformation percentage was 22.2% using PCR analysis with specific primers for cry1Ac and npt-II (Neomycin phosphotransferase) genes. The expression of cry1Ac gene was determined using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), QuickStix test, and insect bioassays. Bioassays for transformed sugarcane plants showed high level of toxicity to Sesamia cretica giving 100% mortality of the larvae. Sugarcane insect resistance was improved significantly by using cry1Ac gene transformation.Machine learning (ML) offers robust statistical and probabilistic techniques that can help to make sense of large amounts of data. This scoping review paper aims to broadly explore the nature of research activity using ML in the context of psychological talk therapies, highlighting the scope of current methods and considerations for clinical practice and directions for future research. Using a systematic search methodology, fifty-one studies were identified. A narrative synthesis indicates two types of studies, those who developed and tested an ML model (k=44), and those who reported on the feasibility of a particular treatment tool that uses an ML algorithm (k=7). Most model development studies used supervised learning techniques to classify or predict labeled treatment process or outcome data, whereas others used unsupervised techniques to identify clusters in the unlabeled patient or treatment data. Overall, the current applications of ML in psychotherapy research demonstrated a range of possible benefits for indications of treatment process, adherence, therapist skills and treatment response prediction, as well as ways to accelerate research through automated behavioral or linguistic process coding. Given the novelty and potential of this research field, these proof-of-concept studies are encouraging, however, do not necessarily translate to improved clinical practice (yet).

The effect of renal sympathetic denervation (RDN) on neurohormonal responses is largely unknown. We aimed to assess the effect of RDN on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and endogenous catecholamines.

A total of 60 patients with hypertension underwent RDN and remained on a stable antihypertensive drug regimen. Samples for plasma aldosterone, plasma renin and urine (nor)metanephrine were collected at baseline and at 6 months post procedure. Ambulatory blood pressure (BP) recordings were obtained at baseline and at 6 months post procedure.

Mean age was 64±9 years, and 30/60 patients were male. At 6 months, average daytime systolic and diastolic ambulatory BP decreased by 10 and 6 mmHg, respectively (

<0.001). No significant change was observed in plasma aldosterone (median=248.0 pmol/L (interquartile range (IQR) 113.3-369.5 pmol/L) vs. median=233.0 pmol/L (IQR 110.3-360.8 pmol/L);

=0.66); renin (median=19.5 µIU/mL (IQR 6.8-119.5 µIU/mL) vs. median=14.3 µIU/mL (IQR 7.2-58.0 µIU/mL);

=0.32), urine metanephrine (median=0.46 µmol/L (IQR 0.24-0.77 µmol/L) vs. median=0.46 µmol/L (IQR 0.22-0.88 µmol/L);

=0.75) and normetanephrine (median=1.41 µmol/L (IQR 0.93-2.00 µmol/L vs. median =1.56 (IQR 0.74-2.50 µmol/L);

=0.58) between baseline and 6 months, respectively. No correlation was found between the decrease in mean systolic daytime BP and changes in RAAS hormones or endogenous catecholamines.

Despite significant reductions in ambulatory BP, RDN did not result in a significant change in endogenous catecholamines or in RAAS hormones at 6 months.

Firmicutes including Bacillus subtilis encode two 6S RNA paralogs, 6S-1 and 6S-2 RNA. 20s Proteasome activity Hypothesizing that the regulatory role of 6S RNAs may be particularly important under natural, constantly changing environmental conditions, we constructed 6S RNA deletion mutants of the undomesticated B. subtilis wild-type strain NCIB 3610. We observed a strong phenotype for the ∆6S-2 RNA strain that showed increased biofilm formation on solid media and the ability to form surface-attached biofilms in liquid culture. This phenotype remained undetected in derived laboratory strains (168, PY79) that are defective in biofilm formation. Quantitative RT-PCR data revealed transcriptional upregulation of biofilm marker genes such as tasA, epsA and bslA in the ∆6S-2 RNA strain, particularly during transition from exponential to stationary growth phase.
