ded on July 8, 2021, after first online publication The preceding sentences were revised from "… control group was 0.31 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.10,0.52). There was low study heterogeneity, with an I2 of 25% (p = 0.004)."] CONCLUSION This review shows that music-making has a small but statistically significant effect on cognitive functioning for older adults with probable MCI or dementia. U0126 supplier Future music interventions can benefit from rigorous intervention protocols that isolate specific activities.Emerging evidence indicates the early growth response 1 (Egr1) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic pain. However, the regulation of Egr1 expression in the DRG and spinal cord in neuropathic pain remains unclear. In the current study, the neuropathic pain was conducted by lumber 5 spinal nerve ligation (SNL) in rats. The role of miR-124-3p in Egr1 expression was examined. Our results showed that the SNL led to a significant increase in the expression of Egr1 mRNA and protein in the DRG and dorsal horn. This increased expression of Egr1 correlated with a reduction of miR-124-3p in the same region. Prior i.t. injection of Egr1 decoy AYX1 inhibited the expression of Egr1 and attenuated the neuropathic pain-like hypersensitivity following SNL. The dual-luciferase reporter assay revealed the luciferase activity of the Egr1 3'-UTR plasmid was inhibited by the miR-124-3p agomir. But this inhibition was completely reversed in the mutant 3'-UTR Egr1 group. In vivo, the SNL-induced behavioral signs of neuropathic pain and the increases in Egr1 mRNA and protein in the DRG and dorsal horn were prevented by prior to i.t. injection of miR-124-3p agomir. While, i.t. injection of miR-124-3p antagomir in naïve rats resulted in mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia and an overexpression of Egr1 in the DRG and dorsal horn. Together, our results suggest that the miR-124-3p-regulated Egr1 expression in the DRG and dorsal horn contributes to the development of neuropathic pain. Targeting miR-124-3p might be a promising therapeutic strategy in the treatment of chronic pain.

The positive effects of Kangaroo mother care in NICU's are well documented but, to a lesser extent, explored during inter-hospital neonatal transport. Inter-hospital transport, with the infant placed in a transport incubator, increases the risk of separation while infants in Kangaroo mother care position implies that the parents accompany the transport. There exists limited knowledge if physiological stability differs when transported in Kangaroo mother care position compared to transport in a transport incubator.

The aim of this study was to compare physiological stability of infants transported via ground ambulance in either Kangaroo mother care position or positioned in a transport incubator.

In total, 24 infants were recruited to be transported between hospitals in either a Kangaroo mother care position (n=16) or in a transport incubator (n=8). Inclusion criteria were; current weight >1500g; current gestational age above 31

weeks; no central catheter; no respiratory support and no planed paare position can be regarded as a choice of transport mode when the infant fulfils the set criteria.

Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune skin disease characterized by abnormal levels of several cytokines, such as interferon alpha (IFN-α) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), which are T-helper type 1 cytokines that have important roles in the pathogenesis of AA. The aim of our study was to correlate circulating IFN-α and TNF-α levels with disease severity, activity, and clinical type in patients with AA and to evaluate the relationship between the two cytokines.

We investigated serum IFN-α and TNF-α levels in 72 patients with AA (35 children and 35 adults) and 75 healthy control individuals (34 children and 41 adults) using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. We evaluated AA severity using the Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) and determined the activity based on dermoscopic criteria of disease activity.

Serum IFN-α and TNF-α concentrations were significantly higher in the patients than in the controls. There was a significant positive correlation between serum IFN-α and TNF-α levels in all patients with alopecia areata, as well as between serum TNF-α levels and disease severity in all patients and in children.

Our results support the association between IFN-α and TNF-α levels and AA and suggest that TNF-α might be related to disease severity.

In Sweden, social restrictions to contain SARS-CoV-2 have primarily relied upon voluntary adherence to a set of recommendations. Strict lockdowns have not been enforced, potentially affecting viral dissemination. To understand the levels of past SARS-CoV-2 infection in the Stockholm population before the start of mass vaccinations, healthy blood donors and pregnant women (n=5,100) were sampled at random between 14 March 2020 and 28 February 2021.

In this cross-sectional prospective study, otherwise-healthy blood donors (n=2,600) and pregnant women (n=2,500) were sampled for consecutive weeks (at four intervals) throughout the study period. Sera from all participants and a cohort of historical (negative) controls (n=595) were screened for IgG responses against stabilized trimers of the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoprotein and the smaller receptor-binding domain (RBD). As a complement to standard analytical approaches, a probabilistic (cut-off independent) Bayesian framework that assigns likelihood of past infion engenders a competent B-cell response.

These data indicate that in the first year since the start of community transmission, seropositivity levels in metropolitan in Stockholm had reached approximately one in five persons, providing important baseline seroprevalence information prior to the start of vaccination.
