This narrative review summarizes the current treatment options for various tendon pathologies, future of tendon augmentation, cell therapy, gene therapy, 3D/4D bioprinting, scaffolding, and cell signals.Various functional polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticles have been developed to treat biofilms in recent years; however, in-depth knowledge of how the physicochemical properties of the nanoparticles impact their penetration and accumulation in biofilms is lacking. In this work, PDA nanoparticles of 15, 60, 90, and 200 nm sizes were synthesized and carboxyl, methoxy, and amine groups were introduced to the particle surface to control their surface charges, and then the penetration and accumulation of these PDA nanoparticles in S. aureus biofilms were investigated. The PDA nanoparticles of approximately 60 nm size (PDA60) showed higher penetration and accumulation abilities than nanoparticles of other sizes, and the positively charged amine groups introduced onto the surfaces of PDA60 nanoparticles were more effective than carboxyl or methoxy groups in promoting the interactions of the nanoparticles with the biofilm. The PDA60 nanoparticles with amine surface groups exhibited good photothermal properties, and confocal laser scanning microscopy revealed that they were able to accumulate in the biofilm in significant amounts, which upon irradiation with a laser of 808 nm wavelength showed a high bactericidal rate (97.1%) against the biofilm. The findings of this work provide guidance for the design and development of nanoparticles for antibiofilm application.Stromal cells possess unique properties to regenerate themselves and cure various chronic illnesses. An easily available and ethical source for procurement of stromal cells is umbilical cord blood which is now being stored for future use. Vedic texts also describe the cord blood as a source of life. However, Indian traditions seem to preserve one more alternative for storage and procurement of stromal cells. Traditionally, in many parts of India, the umbilical cord stump is dried and stored for future use. It is used as a medicine for some illness and to treat infertility. Since Indian traditions are an excerpt of Vedic science, it points towards the possible emergence of dried stump as an easy and cost-effective means for stromal cell procurement and storage. The present review compiles the literature available on these traditional practices and stresses upon the need of rigorous experimental and theoretical research in the area.
This study has investigated the impact of healthcare expenditure on life expectancy and morbidity rates in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to analyse whether health expenditure remains a critical component of improving health status and to determine the threshold value at which health strategy becomes cost-effective from 2000 to 2019.
The techniques employed include the Dynamic Panel Threshold model advanced by Seo etal. (2019) to implement Seo and Shin's (2016) proposed first-differenced generalised method of moments (GMM) estimation. Furthermore, the dynamic system GMM and Pooled Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) techniques were also employed for robustness check.

Myelofibrosis (MF) is a rare myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by a complex symptom profile, cytopenias, splenomegaly, and potential for leukemic progression. Severe thrombocytopenia is common in patients with MF and correlates with poor prognosis; however, until recently, treatment options for these patients were limited. Pacritinib, a potent Janus kinase (JAK) 2/interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1) inhibitor, has demonstrated significant reduction in splenomegaly, improved symptom control, and a manageable safety profile in patients with MF regardless of the severity of thrombocytopenia.
This review will outline the pacritinib drug profile and summarize key efficacy and safety data, focusing on the 200 mg twice daily dose from phase 2 and 3 studies that formed the basis for the recent US Food and Drug Administration approval of pacritinib in patients with MF and severe thrombocytopenia (platelet counts <50 × 10

A cluster-randomized trial examined the effect of activity wristbands on young players' off-training PA and SB profiles; assessed the added value of wearable wristbands with PA warnings; and investigated whether manipulating off-training PA can affect the players' training responses.
Thirty-two adolescent soccer players (16.1±0.9years old) were monitored during weekdays for two weeks (interspersed with one week). Players were randomly assigned to a reminder to move (REM) and a non-reminder to move group (nREM). The REM wore an activity wristband (Fitbit Charge 2) with PA warnings in the last week of research, while the nREM wore identical monitors without PA feedback. Throughout the study, off-training PA was assessed using tri-axial accelerometers, and training responses were analysed using wearable inertial monitoring units. Gardner-Altman estimation plots and a Fisher's Exact Test of Independence estimated each group's off-training PA changes between the monitored weeks. Complementary, an analysis of covariance identified the effect of the activity wristband configuration (REM vs nREM) on players' off-training PA profiles and soccer training responses.
Interestingly, results showed that different wearable wristbands did not influence the players' off-training PA profiles (p>0.05). Concomitantly, no differences were observed in training responses (p>0.05).

The authors of this article have found that, in their experience, editors or other reviewers often appear to give authors extensive leeway on claims of participatory methods that more accurately reflect tokenism or superficial involvement. The problem of co-optation is described, examples from the authors' experiences are given, the potential harms arising from co-optation are articulated, and a series of concrete actions that journal editors, reviewers, and authors can take to preserve the core intent of participatory approaches are offered. The authors conclude with a call to action the mental health field must ensure that power imbalances that sustain epistemic injustice against people with lived experience are not worsened by poorly conducted or reported studies or by tokenistic participatory methods.
Routine infant primary series and toddler booster vaccination are associated with waning of antibody levels over time, which can lead to an increased incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases. A diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP) booster vaccination at school-entry (aged 4-7years) allows continued protection against these diseases and is included in many national immunization programs.
The available immunogenicity and safety data from 6 clinical studies of a diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus vaccine (DTaP-IPV [Tetraxim®]) used as a school-entry booster vaccination were identified using a PubMed search or on file at Sanofi. The studies spanned a 15-year period (1995-2010) and were performed in different populations using different study designs, so all data were reviewed descriptively (no meta-analyses were conducted). The aim of this study is to evaluate the value of selective intra-arterial cone-beam computed tomography angiography (CBCTA) relative to conventional computed tomography angiography (CTA) in understanding visceral artery aneurysm (VAA) morphology, and its impact on treatment planning.
Between January 2017 and August 2021, all patients who had a diagnosis of VAA and underwent intraoperative CBCTA imaging were retrospectively reviewed. Impact on treatment decisions, optimal C-arm angulations derived from CBCTA, and additional radiation exposure were reported. Two blinded independent reviewers qualitatively reviewed CBCTA and conventional CTA images. A 5-point Likert scale (1=poor image quality, 5=excellent image quality) was used to assess the overall image quality of each modality. Number of vessels arising from the aneurysm sac was counted.
A total of 16 patients had a diagnosis of VAA during the study period, of whom 10 patients had intraoperative CBCTA and conventional CTA available for review. Out of 10 patients, 7 underwent successful endovascular treatment, 2 were deemed not amenable for endovascular embolization based on intraoperative CBCTA findings, and 1 had resolved pseudoaneurysm.
