Therefore, one may suggest that although different in detail, the molecular mechanisms of CCM-dependent regulation of DNA replication are similar in E. coli and B. subtilis, making this regulation an important and common constituent of the control of cell physiology in bacteria. The main goal of the present study was to identify and validate latent classes of suicidal behavior in a representative sample of adolescents. The sample comprised a total of 1506 students, including 667 males (44.3%), selected through a sample stratified by clusters. The mean age was 16.15 years (SD = 1.36). The instruments used evaluated suicidal behavior, positive and negative affect, emotional and behavioral problems, prosocial behavior, and subjective well-being. Using the Paykel Suicide Scale, the latent class analysis identified four homogeneous subgroups "low risk", "suicidal act", "suicidal ideation", and "high risk for suicide". These subgroups presented a differential pattern in terms of their social-emotional adjustment. The subgroups with the highest theoretical risk showed lower scores on subjective well-being and positive affect as well as higher scores on emotional and behavioral problems and negative affect compared to the non-risk subgroups. Selleck Dizocilpine This study contributes to an understanding of the typologies of suicidal behavior among adolescents and the relationship with psychopathological adjustment. Ultimately, these findings may promote the development or improvement of early detection and prevention strategies in the suicidal behavior field in order to reduce the socio-economic burdens associated with suicide in young populations.BACKGROUND Fruit peels are generally underutilized byproducts of the food industry, although they are valuable sources of bioactive compounds. The aim of this study is to evaluate a new application for three Citrus peel EOs as bio-herbicides. METHODS After a micro-morphological evaluation of Citrus peels by SEM analysis, the phytochemical composition of the EOs of Citrus × bergamia Risso & Poit., Citrus × myrtifolia Raf., and Citrus limon (L.) Osbeck was characterized by GC/FID and GC/MS analyses. The in vitro phytotoxicity against germination and initial radical elongation of several crop and weed species was evaluated. Furthermore, the eco-compatibility of these EOs has been assessed by the brine shrimp (Artemia salina) lethality assay. RESULTS SEM analysis highlighted the morphometric differences of the schizolysigenous pockets among the peels of the three Citrus species. Oxygenated monoterpenes are the main constituents in C. × bergamia (51.09%), whereas monoterpene hydrocarbons represent the most abundant compounds in C. × myrtifolia (82.15%) and C. limon (80.33%) EOs. They showed marked and selective phytotoxic activity in vitro, often at very low concentration (0.1 μg/mL) against all plant species investigated, without showing any toxicity on Artemia salina, opening the perspective of their use as safe bio-herbicides.Anaplastic lymphoma-kinase (ALK)-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is prone to developing heterogeneous, only partly known mechanisms of resistance to ALK-tyrosine-kinase-inhibitors (ALK-TKIs). We present a case of a 38-year old male, who never smoked with disseminated ALK-rearranged (EML4 (20) - ALK (20) fusion variant 2) lung adenocarcinoma, who received four sequentially different ALK-TKIs and two lines of chemotherapy in-between. We observed significant clinical benefit by the first three ALK-TKIs (Crizotinib, Ceritinib, Alectinib) and chemotherapy with Pemetrexed, resulting in overall survival over 3 years. Longitudinal assessment of progressions by rebiopsies from hepatic metastases showed different mechanisms of resistance to each ALK-TKI, including secondary ALK-mutations and the downstream p.V600E BRAF-mutation that had not been linked to second-generation ALK-TKIs before. Ultimately, in connection with terminal rapid progression and resistance to Alectinib and Lorlatinib, we identified phenotypical epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of newly occurred metastatic cells, a phenomenon not previously related to these two ALK-TKIs. This resistance heterogeneity suggests a continuously changing disease state. Sequential use of different generation's ALK-TKIs and combination therapies may yield prolonged responses with satisfactory quality of life in patients with advanced ALK-positive NSCLC. However, the development of EMT is a major hurdle and may explain rapid disease progression and lack of response to continued ALK-inhibition.The implementation of the pedagogical model has meant an increase in rigour and coherence in Physical Education (PE) classes. The objectives of the study were twofold; (a) to delimit the characteristics and elements that make up Attitudinal Style as a pedagogical model; (b) to analyze the perception of future teachers on the usefulness and transferability of the model in their classes. Twelve future PE teachers (seven women and five men) with an age of 20.14 ± 1.48 participated. All of them were part of the University of Burgos (Spain). A qualitative approach was used with two data collection instruments (reflective group journals and discussion group) and two categories of analysis were established (a) usefulness in the construction of professional identity; (b) transferability of the Attitudinal Style in the school. The results showed how future PE teachers consider the model as a transcendental methodological tool in understanding and addressing PE at school. Interpersonal relationships in the classroom, student autonomy and group responsibility are highlighted as necessary aspects with high transferability to the school.A metastable sp3-bonded carbon allotrope, Penta-C20, consisting entirely of carbon pentagons linked through bridge-like bonds, was proposed and studied in this work for the first time. Its structure, stability, and electronic and mechanical properties were investigated based on first-principles calculations. Penta-C20 is thermodynamically and mechanically stable, with equilibrium total energy of 0.718 and 0.184 eV/atom lower than those of the synthesized T-carbon and supercubane, respectively. Penta-C20 can also maintain dynamic stability under a high pressure of 100 GPa. Ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations indicates that this new carbon allotrope can maintain thermal stability at 800 K. Its Young's modulus exhibits mechanical anisotropy. The calculated ideal tensile and shear strengths confirmed that Penta-C20 is a superhard material with a promising application prospect. Furthermore, Penta-C20 is a direct band gap carbon based semiconducting material with band gap of 2.89 eV.
