Statin adherence is an essential problem although lifetime medication is recommended especially in patients with high cardiovascular risk. The importance of perceived risk as a predictor of adherence among cardiology patients has not been fully explored. This study aimed to test the importance of perceived risk as a predictor of statin adherence amongst hypercholesterolemic patients to identify predictors associated with poor adherence.

This cross-sectional study was conducted at cardiology outpatient clinics of the University hospital in Ankara, Turkey. A total of 327 consecutive patients with high CV risk were recruited. Self-reported Morisky Green Levine Medication Adherence Scale was used to assess statin adherence.

Of the patients studied, 34.5% had concerns about side effects. Also, the mean age was 63.85±11.29years, 66.1% were men, 32.4% applied non-drug alternative therapies, 53.2% had a Mediterranean-style diet and 20.8% checked their lipid values irregularly. Participants reported 50.2% high, ve depressive symptoms. Brief medication adherence scales may facilitate the assessment of patients' adherence.

Approximately half of the patients reported high medication adherence. Proper strategies to improve adherence would include patient education efforts focused on patients with concerns about side effects and those who are female, less educated, current smokers, interested in complementary interventions, have irregular follow-up visits, and have depressive symptoms. For the period of 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2019, we collected daily data on mean temperatures and date of 2995 operations for ATAAD at 10 Nordic cities included in the Nordic Consortium for Acute Type A Aortic Dissection (NORCAAD) collaboration. Using a two-stage time-series approach, we investigated the association between hot and cold temperatures relative to the optimal temperature and the rate of ATAAD repair in the selected cities. The relative risks (RRs) of cold temperatures (≤-5°C) and hot temperatures (≥21°C) compared to optimal temperature were 1.47 (95% CI 0.72-2.99) and 1.43 (95% CI 0.67-3.08), respectively. In line with previous studies, we observed increased risk at cold and hot temperatures. This review summarized the physiological characteristics and advantages of Z. mobilis in food industry for the first time and further expounds its research status in food industry from three aspects of food additive synthesis, fermentation applications, and prebiotic efficacy, it will provide a theoretical basis for its development and applications in food industry. This review also discussed the shortcomings of its practical applications in the current food industry, and explored other ways to broaden the applications of Z. mobilis in the food industry, to promote its applications in food processing.

Chronic otitis media (COM) can seriously impact quality of life (QOL). Disease-specific questionnaires are essential for an accurate assessment of this impact. There is no questionnaire available for French-speaking patients with COM. This study aims to adapt and validate the French version of the COMQ-12 questionnaire.

This is a controlled, prospective study, conducted between May 2020 and December 2021. Translation was performed using a forward-backward technique, and statistical validation was performed with a COM patients and a controls adult cohorts.

100 patients (mean age 48 ± 16), and 50 controls (mean age 41 ± 16;

 = 0.02) completed the test.

Internal consistency, assessed by Cronbach's alpha, was 0.870 for the cases group. The mean COMQ-12 total score was 23.92 ± 11.3 for cases versus 3.70 ± 6.15 for controls (

 < 0.0001). Individual items all had high discriminatory performances. The three items concerning ear discharge (Q1, Q2, Q9) had weaker correlation with the other items and the global score, but did not have a negative impact on internal consistency.

The syndrome is characterized by a ringlike and usually stenotic malformation rather than by the absence of the pulmonary valve, with failure of development of the valve cusps. Another important feature of absent pulmonary valve syndrome is the marked aneurysmal dilatation of the proximal pulmonary arteries, which causes extrinsic compression of the tracheobronchial tree, leading to respiratory symptoms of variable severity (2). The surgical goals are to correct any intracardiac anomaly, prevent right-sided heart failure, and alleviate or prevent bronchial compression and peripheral lung damage. In this video tutorial, we present the straightforward correction of tetralogy of Fallot with absent pulmonary valve with a transannular patch combined with size reduction arterioplasty of bilateral aneurysmal pulmonary arteries. This patient also had a subaortic membrane that was completely removed concomitantly. Our technique shows right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction without using a valved conduit or creating a monocusp patch in order to reduce the incidence of a right ventricular outflow track reoperation. Nonapplication of the right ventricle-pulmonary artery conduit did not affect the early postoperative course or the immediate postoperative outcome.Pyrethroid insecticides are broadly used in agriculture and household products throughout the world. Exposure to this class of insecticides is widespread, and while generally believed to be safe for use, there is increasing concern regarding their effects on neurodevelopment. Due to the critical roles that molecular targets of pyrethroids play in the regulation of neurodevelopment, particular focus has been placed on evaluating the effects of in utero and childhood pyrethroid exposure on child cognition and behavior. As such, this narrative review synthesizes an assessment of converging study types; we review reports of neonatal pyrethroid levels together with current epidemiological literature that convergently address the risk for developmental toxicity linked to exposure to pyrethroid insecticides. We first address studies that assess the degree of direct fetal exposure to pyrethroids in utero through measurements in cord blood, meconium, and amniotic fluid. We then focus on the links between prenatal exposure to these insecticides and child neurodevelopment, fetal growth, and other adverse birth outcomes.
