This critical review analyzes the standing criteria employed in order to diagnose and aptly categorize POR patients, while it proceeds to critically evaluate current and novel strategies regarding their management. Discrepancies in diagnosis and respective implications are discussed, while the existing diversity in management options highlights the need for individualized management.The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has rapidly spread worldwide. A number of serious effects on various organs and systems have been reported in humans, and recently emerging evidence on the potential association between the infection and thyroid dysfunction are attracting attention from the scientific community. This editorial critically summarizes the main findings on this topic published so far and defines research lines according to the translational approach from the bench to the bed to epidemiological studies and back again, aimed at patient care and effective public health measures.In recent years, dietary products with quinoa and buckwheat have attracted attention mostly due to the high nutritive value of their protein fraction. However, their dietary effect on intestinal microbiota activity and related systemic responses are still poorly understood. Therefore, a 2 week study of twenty-eight growing male Wistar rats was conducted to investigate the effects of quinoa (QU) and buckwheat (BK) protein-rich flours on the growth parameters, intestinal microbial activity, plasma lipid profile, and inflammatory markers. The biological value of protein and body weight gain were considerably increased in the QU and BK groups compared with those in the soy protein isolate group. Moreover, both flours increased the microbial activity of α-glucosidase, β-glucosidase, and α-galactosidase and the concentration of short-chain fatty acids in the caecum. The studied flours favourably reduced the plasma total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. In rats fed a diet with QU, elevated levels of plasma interleukin 6 and alanine transaminase were observed. The effect of QU on inflammatory markers may be related to the increased expression of aryl hydrocarbon receptor in the liver and to the decreased level of plasma albumin. In conclusion, quinoa and buckwheat protein-rich flours are valuable sources of proteins that favourably affect growth parameters, gut metabolism, and blood lipid profile in rats; however, only the buckwheat flour has no effect on inflammatory processes.Alternative nicotine products like e-cigarettes could help achieve an end to the epidemic of ill health and death caused by smoking. However, in-depth information about their use is often limited. Our study investigated patterns of use of e-cigarettes and attitudes and beliefs among smokers and ex-smokers in New Zealand (NZ), a country with an 'endgame' goal for smoked tobacco. Data came from smokers and ex-smokers in Waves 1 and 2 of the International Tobacco Control (ITC) NZ Survey (Wave 1 August 2016-April 2017, 1155 participants; Wave 2, June-December 2018, 1020 participants). Trial, current and daily use of e-cigarettes was common daily use was 7.9% among smokers and 22.6% among ex-smokers in Wave 2, and increased between surveys. Use was commonest among 18-24 years and ex-smokers, but was similar among Māori and non-Māori participants, and by socio-economic status. Most participants used e-cigarettes to help them quit or reduce their smoking. COVID-19 has become pandemic and can impact individuals with autism as well. Here, we report a case series admitted to a neurobehavioral unit dedicated to challenging behaviors in patients with autism.

We describe 16 patients (mean age 20.8 years; range 12-43 years; 76% male) with autism hospitalized between March 2020 and mid-April 2020 for challenging behaviors, for which COVID-19 disease has been suspected and who needed both psychiatric and medical care. A close cooperation with the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Department was organized to limit viral spread and training sessions (e.g., hygiene, clinical COVID-19 monitoring, virus testing) were given to staff members.

Most patients had severe autism and severe/moderate intellectual disability. Eleven patients were already in the unit when it was hit by the pandemic, and five were admitted from the community. Based on a virus search via reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or serology at the 2-month follow-up, we had 11 confirm this initiative should be promoted to limit both the spread of the virus and the ostracism of patients with autism and challenging behaviors.Locating active radars in real environmental conditions is a very important and complex task. The efficiency of the direction finding (DF) of ground-based radars and other microwave emitters using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is dependent on the parameters of applied devices for angle location of microwave emitters, and on the construction and modes of operation of the observed transmitting antenna systems. An additional factor having the influence on DF of the radar, when are used systems installed on the UAV, is the rotation of the antenna of a radar. The accuracy of estimation of direction of any microwave transmitter is determined by the terrain properties that surround the transmitter and the objects reflecting microwave signals. The exemplary shapes of the radar antenna patterns and the associated relationships with the probability of remotely detecting the radar and determining its bearings are described. The simulated patterns of the signals received at an emitter-locating device mounted on a UAV and the expected results of a monopulse DF based on these signals are presented. The novelty of this work is the analysis of the DF efficiency of radars in conditions where intense multi-path phenomena appear, and for various amplitudes and phases of the direct signal and multi-path signals that reach the UAV when assuming that so-called simple signals and linear frequency modulation (LFM) signals are transmitted by the radar. The primary focus is on multi-path phenomenon, which can make it difficult, but not entirely impossible, to detect activity and location of radar with a low-flying small UAV and using only monopulse techniques, that is, when only a single pulse emitted by a radar must be sufficient to DF of this radar. Direction of arrival (DOA) algorithms of signals in dense signal environment were not presented in the work, but relevant suggestions were made for the design of such algorithms.
