Emerging viral infections are among the greatest challenges in the public health sector in the twenty-first century. Among these, most of the viruses jump from other species of animals to humans called zoonotic viruses. The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), by crossing species-barrier, has infected the human population for the third time in the current century and has caused the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) . Mutation and adaptation for years have greatly influenced the co-evolution and existence of coronaviruses and their possible hosts including humans. The appearance of SARS-CoV-2 in China thrust coronaviruses into the limelight and shocked the world. Presently, no coronavirus vaccines are clinically available to combat the virus's devastating effects. To counter the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is therefore important to understand the complex nature of coronaviruses and their clinical attributes. SARS and MERS outbreaks had ultimately led to socio-economic deprivation in the previous decades. In addressing the recent disastrous situation, the COVID-19 pandemic still needs some lessons from prior experience. In this review, we have highlighted the chronological order of coronavirus strains, their genomic features, the mechanism of action of SARS-CoV-2, and its disastrous repercussions on the world. We have also suggested some therapeutic options that could be effective against the COVID-19.The epidemic context of Covid-19 and the containment measures, put in place since 16 March 2020, has significantly increased the number of emergencies calls in call center (SAMU). In the department of Pas-de-Calais, one step of the crisis measures was setting up a psychiatric regulation line, which aims to manage calls with strong emotional valence (in connexion with containment, anxiety related to the epidemic context, or break in psychiatric cares for people suffering of mental disorders). This psychiatric hotline was provided from 20 March 2020 to 15 May 2020 by fifteen psychiatric careers (psychiatrists, psychologists and psychiatric nurses) from the network of the medical-psychological emergency unit (unit of the emergency call center which aims to manage people involved in psychotraumatic events). find more In total, 556 calls were answered, i.e. an average of 9,8 calls per day. The typology of calls was in a quarter of the cases anxiety related to the fear of being infected, in the second quarter, adjustment disorders related to containment, and for about half of the calls, psychiatrics symptoms whether it was preexisting and increased by the discontinuation of care, or context-induced. The benefits identified by this device were as follows -the discharge of time-consuming calls for the medical dispatcher assistant, -the expertise of a mental health professional, knowing the mental health network, to make the decision more fluid. Last but not least, it is interesting to note that the presence of the psychiatric regulator in the regulation room allowed a transfer of calls and a reciprocal acculturation. In view of the relevance of the establishment of a psychiatric regulation line in the epidemic context of Covid-19, it seems interesting to consider the sustainability of this system, which is part of a global context of evolution of the provision of emergency care. The COVID-19 pandemic occurred in the context of a dramatic decline in support for biological and health research in France. An analysis of resources allocated to this sector shows that the credits in 2020 correspond to only 17.2 % of the total credits allocated to research, the lowest ratio inat least 15 years. Another weakness in the system of support for hospital research is the way funds from the health insurance system are allocated. To bring it into line with international best practices, the task of allocating these funds should be entrusted to a "Hospital Research Orientation Council", which should also be involved in the implementation of national research programming. Another article deals with the organization of research. Recommendations are also made to improve the functioning of the research system at the local level, particularly in university hospitals, and at the national level.Coronavirus disease in veterinary medicine has been known since 1931 and is the cause of one of the most damaging diseases in poultry farming avian infectious bronchitis (BIA). The characteristics most useful for the study of epidemiology are presented, in particular the very strong mutagenicity and the seasonality of infections with this virus. The control programs are based on numerous biosecurity measures applied as much to prevent viruses from spreading from sources of infection biocontainment measures, as to measures to prevent contamination of uninjured herds bioexclusion measures The control of avian coronaviruses is based mainly on vaccinations and because of the very strong mutagenic power of the virus, a race is regularly underway, to succeed in matching the different viruses frequently appearing in farms and vaccine viruses. This also obliges us to adapt each time and region by region the pool of vaccines used and the vaccination programs used. The city of Wuhan, capital of Hubei, was the starting point of the Covid-19 epidemic and its doctors were led to develop novel strategies that have benefited the global fight in the country. But whatever strategies we hold up, the basic golden rule for controlling the pandemic has been early detection, reporting, isolation and treatment. The modalities of the battle were swift action to block transmission with a vigorous, multifaceted response; resource allocation (a nationwide command system); Fangcang shelter hospitals; Broad community engagement -provision of support via a volunteer network; People embraced behavioral change -wearing masks and social distancing; Widespread testing technical innovation; Science and technology curb the pandemic with research and digital technology; Free diagnosis and treatment for COVID-19. The success of our experience has provided valuable information to the international community in the fight against the pandemic.
