77%. The gingival bleeding report was more frequent among individuals with higher GBI (p =  0.014). The DMFT was higher in those who had already undergone dental treatments (p =  0.031). Molidustat in vivo There was an association between participants who presented dental caries and who rated their oral health as poor (p =  0.03). The question "Do your gums bleed easily?" had good accuracy in the evaluation of periodontal disease (p =  0.68).

Oral health self-perception of individuals with FA about gingival inflammation was associated with their gingival bleeding index.

Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a serious complication in allogeneic transplantation. The first-line treatment is high doses of corticosteroids. In the absence of response to corticosteroids, several immunosuppressive drugs can be used, but they entail an elevated risk of severe infections. Added to this, there are patients who do not improve on any immunosuppressive treatment, with subsequent deteriorated quality of life and high mortality. Ruxolitinib has been shown to induce responses in refractory patients. In this study we have presented our real-life experience.

A retrospective analysis was performed on patients with severe GVHD refractory to corticosteroids. Demographic, previous treatment, response and mortality data were collected.

Since 2014, seventeen patients with GVHD were treated with ruxolitinib due to refractoriness to corticosteroids and immunosuppressants and a few to extracorporeal photopheresis, 8 with acute GVHD (1 pulmonary, 4 cutaneous grade IV and 3 digestive grade IV) and 9 ractory patients, showing that better therapeutic strategies are needed.

Peyronie's disease results in penile curvature, shortening, instability, or pain upon erection-hindering sexual performance and leading to psychological distress. Despite extensive research, surgery is still the mainstay of treatment.

To present an organized description of the most common surgical techniques used in the correction of Peyronie's disease and to propose a surgical algorithm to guide management.

Using PubMed, we reviewed the published literature regarding surgical treatment of Peyronie's disease and its outcomes. We identified original articles, review articles, and editorials addressing the subject, with a focus on surgical techniques, their indications, and outcomes.

Peyronie's disease can be treated by corporoplasty or penile prosthesis implantation. Corporoplasty includes convex side-shortening procedures and concave side lengthening procedures. It is indicated when the erectile function is adequate. Shortening procedures include excisional, incisional, and plication-only techniques, patient counseling critically important. 60°, hourglass or hinge deformities, and short penises, if the patient's erectile function is adequate. The presence of "borderline" erectile function and/or ventral curvature tilts the choice toward shortening procedures, and refractory erectile dysfunction is an indication for penile prosthesis placement. Peyronie's disease management remains challenging with many options available, making an accurate risk/benefit assessment of each case and meticulous patient counseling critically important. For many, sleep and sex are crucial for physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Poor sleep quality is linked to a myriad of ailments from coronary artery disease to major depressive disorder. Likewise, a decrease in the frequency of sexual activity is associated with a decrease in self-rated health status. Kleine-Levin syndrome (KLS) is a rare sleep disorder that provides a unique lens to examine the intricate interplay between sleep and sex as it is one of the few sleep disorders defined by concomitant sexual dysfunction.

This study reviews the literature on links between sleep disorders and sexuality with a focus on women's health followed by a case study of unusual patient with KLS with persistent genital arousal disorder.

Literature searches were conducted for English language publications, including foreign language publications with English abstracts with ninety-five articles reviewed. The literature review is followed by a case report.

We review the known literature linking sleep and women'cannot effectively be treated in isolation but rather must be contextualized within a patient's broader medical history and diagnoses. Specifically, sleep quality and potential sleep disorders should be assessed for those presenting with sexual health complaints (and vice versa). Zwerling B, Keymeulen S, Krychman ML. Sleep and Sex A Review of the Interrelationship of Sleep and Sexuality Disorders in the Female Population, Through the Lens of Sleeping Beauty Syndrome. Sex Med Rev 2020;XXXXX-XXX.Sphingomyelinase C (SMC) hydrolyzes sphingomyelin to ceramide and phosphocholine. Prokaryotic SMCs share sequence homology with mammalian SMCs that have enzymatic pH optima at neutral pH. SMC from the nonpathogenic prokaryote Streptomyces griseocarneus shows notable enzymatic features such as higher optimum pH and thermostability than other prokaryotic SMCs. Determination of the three-dimensional structure of S. griseocarneus-SMC (Sg-SMC) and comparison with other SMC structures represents a promising strategy to elucidate the unique enzymatic features of Sg-SMC on a structural basis. Therefore, we determined the crystal structure of Sg-SMC at 2.0 Å resolution by X-ray crystallography. Comparison of the Sg-SMC structure with three other structurally known SMCs from Listeria ivanovii, Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus indicated that Sg-SMC is more diverse in sequence and that structural differences in the main chain between these SMCs are primarily located on the molecular surface distant from the active site.
