University student years are a particularly influential period, during which time students may adopt negative behaviours that set the precedent for health outcomes in later years. This study utilised a newly digitised health survey implemented during health screening at a university in Singapore to capture student health data. The aim of this study was to analyze the health status of this Asian university student population. A total of 535 students were included in the cohort, and a cross-sectional analysis of student health was completed. Areas of concern were highlighted in student's body weight, visual acuity, and binge drinking. A large proportion of students were underweight (body mass index (BMI) 30). Although the overall prevalence of alcohol use was low in this study population, 9% of females and 8% of males who consumed alcohol had hazardous drinking habits. Around 16% of these students (male and female combined) typically drank 3-4 alcoholic drinks each occasion. The prevalence of mental health conditions reported was very low ( less then 1%). This study evaluated the results from a digitised health survey implemented into student health screening to capture a comprehensive health history. The results reveal potential student health concerns and offer the opportunity to provide more targeted student health campaigns to address these. In this work, we focused our attention on seleno-Michael type reactions. These were performed using zinc-selenolates generated in situ from diphenyl diselenide 1, 1,2-bis(3-phenylpropyl)diselenide 30, and protected selenocystine 31 via an efficient biphasic Zn/HCl-based reducing system. Alkenes with a variety of electron-withdrawing groups were investigated in order to gauge the scope and limitations of the process. Results demonstrated that the addition to acyclic α,β-unsaturated ketones, aldehydes, esters amides, and acids was effectively achieved and that alkyl substituents at the reactive β-centre can be accommodated. Similarly, cyclic enones undergo efficient Se-addition and the corresponding adducts were isolated in moderate to good yield. Vinyl sulfones, α,β-unsaturated nitriles, and chalcones are not compatible with these reaction conditions. A recycling experiment demonstrated that the unreacted Zn/HCl reducing system can be effectively reused for seven reaction cycles (91% conversion yield at the 7° recycling rounds).Coronaviruses (CoVs) are positive-stranded RNA viruses that infect humans and animals. Infection by CoVs such as HCoV-229E, -NL63, -OC43 and -HKU1 leads to the common cold, short lasting rhinitis, cough, sore throat and fever. However, CoVs such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), and the newest SARS-CoV-2 (the causative agent of COVID-19) lead to severe and deadly diseases with mortality rates ranging between ~1 to 35% depending on factors such as age and pre-existing conditions. Despite continuous global health threats to humans, there are no approved vaccines or drugs targeting human CoVs, and the recent outbreak of COVID-19 emphasizes an urgent need for therapeutic interventions. Using computational and bioinformatics tools, here we present the feasibility of reported broad-spectrum RNA polymerase inhibitors as anti- SARS-CoV-2 drugs targeting its main RNA polymerase, suggesting that investigational and approved nucleoside RNA polymerase inhibitors have potential as anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs. However, we note that it is also possible for SARS-CoV-2 to evolve and acquire drug resistance mutations against these nucleoside inhibitors.Leaf area index (LAI) is an important biophysical parameter, which can be effectively applied in the estimation of vegetation growth status. At present, amounts of studies just focused on the LAI estimation of a single plant type, while plant types are usually mixed rather than single distribution. In this study, the suitability of GF-1 data for multi-species LAI estimation was evaluated by using Gaussian process regression (GPR), and a look-up table (LUT) combined with a PROSAIL radiative transfer model. Then, the performance of the LUT and GPR for multi-species LAI estimation was analyzed in term of 15 different band combinations and 10 published vegetation indices (VIs). Lastly, the effect of the different band combinations and published VIs on the accuracy of LAI estimation was discussed. The results indicated that GF-1 data exhibited a good potential for multi-species LAI retrieval. Then, GPR exhibited better performance than that of LUT for multi-species LAI estimation. What is more, modified soil adjusted vegetation index (MSAVI) was selected based on the GPR algorithm for multi-species LAI estimation with a lower root mean squared error (RMSE = 0.6448 m2/m2) compared to other band combinations and VIs. Then, this study can provide guidance for multi-species LAI estimation.Today pre-eclampsia (PE) is considered as a disease of various theories; still all of them agree that endothelial dysfunction is the leading pathogenic factor. Selleck MEDICA16 Endothelial dysfunction is a sequence of permanent immune activation, resulting in the change of both the phenotype and the functions of an endothelial cell and of the extracellular layer associated with the cell membrane-endothelial glycocalyx (eGC). Numerous studies demonstrate that eGC mediates and regulates the key functions of endothelial cells including regulation of vascular tone and thromboresistance; and these functions are disrupted during PE. Taking into account that eGC and its components undergo alterations under pathological conditions leading to endothelial activation, it is supposed that eGC plays a certain role in pathogenesis of PE. Envisaging the eGC damage as a key factor of PE, might be a new approach to prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with PE. This approach could include the development of drugs protecting eGC and promoting regeneration of this structure. Since the issue of PE is far from being solved, any effort in this direction might be valuable. Background and Objectives The evaluative strength of available bibliometric tools in the field of clinical embryology has never been examined in the literature. The aim is to bring insight regarding the identity of clinical embryology research, introducing concerns when solely relying on the methodology of bibliometric analysis. Methods An all-inclusive analysis of the most bibliometrically highlighted scientific contributions regarding the cornerstones of clinical embryology was performed employing the Scopus, Web of Science (WoS) and PubMed databases, between 1978-2018. An analysis of the number of publications, respective citations and h-index, g-index, along with m-quotient is presented. The top 30 contributing authors for each distinctive area of research are listed. An attempt at visualizing the yearly published articles, clusters, and collaborations of authors, along with the geographic origin of publications, is also presented. Results Combining all searches and keywords yielded 54,522 results. In the Scopus database, employing the keyword "In Vitro Fertilization" yielded 41,292 results.
