Although ovarian cancer usually responds well to chemotherapy, most patients still have a poor prognosis. selleck chemical EIF2B5 is a crucial molecule in posttranscriptional modifications involved in tumor progression, and here we investigated the prognostic role of EIF2B5 in ovarian cancer. We examined the differential expression of EIF2B5 mRNA in ovarian cancer by exploring The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The chi square test was used to identify a clinical correlation. Survival analysis and Cox regression model were performed to determine the association between EIF2B5 expression and overall survival (OS) in ovarian cancer patients. As a result, Low EIF2B5 expression was found in ovarian cancer tissues and correlated with survival status. Survival analysis showed that ovarian cancer patients with low EIF2B5 expression had a short OS. Moreover, Cox regression analysis indicated that low EIF2B5 expression was an independent risk factor for a poor prognosis in ovarian cancer. Additionally, according to gene set enrichment analysis, mesenchymal transition, angiogenesis, coagulation, and bile acid metabolism were differentially enriched in ovarian cancer with high EIF2B5 expression. In conclusion, Low EIF2B5 expression is an independent risk factor for a poor prognosis in ovarian cancer patients.INTRODUCTION Zenker's diverticulum (ZD) refers to a pouch-like structure similar to the esophageal lumen formed from the herniation of the esophageal mucosa; this structure makes it difficult for food to pass through the esophagus to the stomach. The development of endoscopic technology has made minimally invasive surgical treatments for ZD possible. PATIENT CONCERNS A female 72-year-old patient was admitted to our hospital due to recurrent dysphagia for more than 5 years. A 62-year-old female patient underwent a gastroscopic examination due to recurrent dysphagia for 10 years and aggravated dysphagia accompanied by bad breath for 1 year. DIAGNOSIS A significant diverticulum with food residue at the entrance of the esophagus was found on gastroscopy in both cases. INTERVENTIONS After completing a relevant examination and excluding surgical contraindications, both patients underwent submucosal tunneling endoscopic septum division. OUTCOMES Both patients were discharged after symptoms alleviated on postoperative day 4. A 3-month follow-up gastroscopy showed the disappearance of the diverticulum and recovery of the esophageal anatomical structure. No symptom relapse was found at the 6-month follow-up assessment. CONCLUSION Submucosal tunneling endoscopic septum division has become the most common minimally invasive treatment option. The newly onset De Winter ECG pattern after PCI procedure may indicate perioperative myocardial infarction caused by impaired microvascular perfusion.INTRODUCTION Acute hydrocephalus is a common complication of spontaneous or traumatic intracranial bleeding with extensive subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) or ventricular extension. However, it has never been reported to be secondary to pneumocephalus. PATIENT CONCERNS A 32-year-old man was admitted following a motorcycle accident. Head computed tomography (CT) performed right after the accident revealed a skull base fracture and mild perimesencephalic SAH. Three days later, repeated CT revealed delayed perimesencephalic pneumocephalus and an evident enlargement of the ventricular system. DIAGNOSIS The patient was diagnosed with acute obstructive hydrocephalus, which was secondary to pneumocephalus and traumatic SAH. INTERVENTIONS The patient was treated with temporary external ventricular drainage (EVD). OUTCOMES The patient experienced an unremarkable recovery process. At follow-up 3 months later, he showed no recurrence of the hydrocephalus and the score of Glasgow Outcome Scale was 5. Traditionally, surgery following chemotherapy (CT) and radiation therapy is the preferred treatment for CCAC; however, patients have poor 5-year survival rates than other types of cervical cancers. PATIENT CONCERNS A 6-year-old girl with a history of vaginal discharge for 18 months was diagnosed with CCAC by histological examination. Her parents refused the traditional treatment of radical hysterectomy and lymph node dissection because of her young age. DIAGNOSIS The patient's tests revealed negative human papilloma virus and negative methylated paired box 1 gene results. The tumor mass histopathology revealed stage IIA1 CCAC that originated from the cervix. INTERVENTIONS Tumor mass excision with preservation of the cervix by electrosurgical biopsy under hysteroscopy was performed. Four cycles of docetaxel and oxaliplatin CT were administered every 3 weeks.
