In this metrologic review (part 1), we list and explain the most important terms defined by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures regarding quantities and units, properties of measurements, devices for measurement, properties of measuring devices, and measurement standards, with specific examples from perioperative and intensive care medicine.Overcrowding in emergency departments (ED) jeopardizes quality and access to health care, which represents a major issue for service delivery. This study determined predictors of frequent ED utilization among 320 patients recruited from six hospital ED in Quebec (Canada). Data collection included patient interviews and administrative databanks. A hierarchical linear regression analysis was performed using the Andersen Behavioral Model as a framework, with variables organized into predisposing, enabling, and needs factors. Results showed that needs factors were most strongly associated with ED utilization, particularly schizophrenia and personality disorders. Fifty five yeast strains in the family Dipodascaceae, which encompasses genera Galactomyces, Geotrichum, and Dipodascus, and seven yeast strains of species Wickerhamomyces ciferrii were tested for ability to grow in laboratory medium containing no IL, 242 mM [C2C1Im][OAc], or 242 mM [C2C1Im]Cl, and in IL-pretreated switchgrass hydrolysate. Many yeasts exhibited tolerance of one or both ILs, with higher tolerance of the chloride anion than of the acetate anion. Results from subgroup analyses comparing genetic mutations and TS metrics were assessed and applied to survival analyses. Data from four mCRC clinical studies were analyzed (1781 patients, 6369 iTLs). CICIL was used to assess differences in lesion TS dynamics within a tissue (intra-class) or across different tissues (inter-class). First, lesions were automatically classified based on their location. Cross-correlation coefficients (CCs) determined if each pair of lesions followed similar or opposite dynamics. Finally, CCs were grouped by using the K-means clustering method. Heterogeneity in tumor dynamics was lower in the intra-class analysis than in the inter-class analysis for patients receiving cetuximab.
