Maritime transportation is indispensable for world trade. Marine casualties have serious consequences. The majority of the accidents in the maritime industry are caused by human error. If necessary precautions are taken, human error can be prevented to a great extent. Safety culture is of tremendous importance in taking precautions and preventing accidents. The concept of safety culture emerged after the Chernobyl accident. Today, the importance of safety culture in preventing accidents is accepted by all international organizations. There are many elements affecting safety culture. In this study, the situation of the safety culture of 221 deck officers against many variables was examined. According to the analysis of variance test, it has been observed that the vessel type has a significant effect on safety culture even among the officers who graduated from the same college.This article aims to develop a method for prioritizing indoor environmental quality parameters in the workplace (i.e., temperature, lighting, acoustics, air quality, layout, furnishing, cleanliness and maintenance) to enhance occupants' workspace satisfaction. Data were collected using a web-based survey of 12 Iranian control centre buildings (CCBs) of combined cycle power plants. The results showed that fewer than half of occupants are satisfied with their workplace. Corrective measures would cost the owners an exorbitant amount of money if they were to try to address all of the parameters. Therefore, a statistical analysis framework was applied to determine each parameter's importance in relation to overall workspace satisfaction. Based on detailed analysis, two levels of importance have been defined for ergonomic modification of each CCB. The statistical approach developed in this study can be applied to all kinds of buildings to determine where ergonomic modification is most likely to produce higher workspace satisfaction.Ivermectin (IVM) is an FDA-approved drug that has shown antiviral activity against a wide variety of viruses in recent years. IVM inhibits the formation of the importin-α/β1 heterodimeric complex responsible for the translocation and replication of various viral species proteins. Also, IVM hampers SARS-CoV-2 replication in vitro; however, the molecular mechanism through which IVM inhibits SARS-CoV-2 is not well understood. Previous studies have explored the molecular mechanism through which IVM inhibits importin-α and several potential targets associated with COVID-19 by using docking approaches and MD simulations to corroborate the docked complexes. This study explores the energetic and structural properties through which IVM inhibits importin-α and five targets associated with COVID-19 by using docking and MD simulations combined with the molecular mechanics generalized Born surface area (MMGBSA) approach. Energetic and structural analysis showed that the main protease 3CLpro reached the most favorable affinity, followed by importin-α and Nsp9, which shared a similar relationship. Therefore, in vitro activity of IVM can be explained by acting as an inhibitor of importin-α, dimeric 3CLpro, and Nsp9, but mainly over dimeric 3CLpro.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.The effects of initial total phosphorus (TP) concentration, current density, conductivity and initial pH value on the removal rate of TP and energy consumption, as well as the behaviour and mechanism of phosphorus removal, were investigated by sinusoidal alternating current coagulation (SACC). The flocs produced by SACC were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FTIR and X-ray photo electron spectroscopy. The thermodynamic and kinetic behaviours of phosphorus removal by iron sol adsorption were also studied in detail. In a self-made SACC reactor equipped with five sets of parallel iron electrodes spacing 10 mm, the removal rate of TP reached 90.9% for a pH 7.0 wastewater with 5 mg dm-3 TP (κ = 800 μS cm-1) after being treated for 60 min by applying 2.12 mA cm-2 sinusoidal alternating current. Previous studies showed that the protein phosphatase-calcineurin protects fungi from toxicity caused by the extracellular calcium; however, little is known about how calcineurin mediates the cellular physiology process for this function. In this study, by monitoring intracellular calcium, particularly by tracking vacuolar calcium dynamics in living cells through a novel procedure using modified aequorin, we found that calcineurin dysfunction systematically caused abnormal intracellular calcium homeostasis in cytosol, mitochondria, and vacuole, leading to drastic autophagy, global organelle fragmentation accompanied with the increased expression of cell death-related enzymes, and cell death upon extracellular calcium stimuli. Notably, all detectable defective phenotypes seen with calcineurin mutants can be significantly suppressed by alleviating a cytosolic calcium overload or increasing vacuolar calcium storage capacity, suggesting toxicity of exogenous calcium to calcineurin mutants is tightly associated with abnormal cytosolic calcium accumulation and vacuolar calcium storage capacity deficiency.
