Depressive symptoms and feelings of stress were described as strain reactions. Outpatient care services need to be better prepared for sudden pandemic situations and provide their employees with sufficient PPE and education to reduce pandemic-related job demands leading to negative strain reactions.Intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) piglets are born at term but have low birth mass and a characteristic shape of the head. Impaired general condition, especially in intestinal function, leads to an increase in the occurrence of diarrhoea and high mortality in the first days of life. So far, the mechanical and immunological gut barrier functions in IUGR are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to microscopically evaluate the early postnatal changes in the gut mucosa occurring in IUGR piglets. Whole-tissue small intestine samples were collected from littermate pairs (IUGR and normal) on postnatal day (PD) 7, 14 and 180 and analysed by light microscopy. We found that in the IUGR piglets, the percentage of intraepithelial leukocytes was reduced in the duodenum on PD 7, but it increased in the proximal and middle jejunum both on PD 7 and PD 14, which suggested the development of an inflammatory process. The number of goblet cells was also reduced on PD 14. The average size of the Peyer's patches in the distal jejunum and ileum showed significant reduction on PD 7 as compared to normal pigs; however, on PD 14, it returned to normal. On PD 180, we did not find any differences in the measured parameters between the IUGR and the normal pigs. In conclusion, we found that in one-week-old IUGR pig neonates, the gut barrier and the immune system structures display signs of retarded development but recover within the second postnatal week of life.Human papillomavirus infection is a cause of the development of invasive cervical cancer. Three types of vaccine are currently available to prevent precancerous/cancerous lesions due to persistent infection, which is supported mainly by 7 different high-risk genotypes. The aim of this pilot study was to acquire preliminary data on type-specific prevalence 10 years after the implementation of the HPV vaccination program in Italy, in order to subsequently plan appropriate observational studies in the Italian population. First-voided urine samples were collected from 393 consenting subjects, both females and males, aged 18-40 years, and HPV DNA was detected by PCR amplification of a 450 bp L1 fragment. All amplified products were genotyped by means of the Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) method. The female population was divided into three cohorts ("vaccine-eligible", "pre-screening" and "screening" cohorts) according to the preventive intervention scheduled by age; males were included in the same three cohorts according to their year of birth. The overall prevalence of HPV infection was 19%, being higher in females than in males (22.1% vs. 13.6%, p = 0.03729). In the female population, 10 years after the start of the national immunization program, we observed a reduction in the prevalence of vaccine types and the number of circulating genotypes, especially in the "vaccine-eligible" cohort. Sovilnesib The frequency of HPV vaccine types increased with age, particularly in males in the "pre-screening" and "screening" cohorts. Our study highlights the importance of monitoring HPV infection in both genders, to validate the effect of the HPV vaccination program. The goal of this work was to apply ionic liquids (ILs) with bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion (TFSI) for fine-tuning the cure characteristics and physico-chemical properties of elastomer composites based on a biodegradable natural rubber (NR) matrix. ILs with TFSI anion and different cations, such as alkylpyrrolidinium, alkylammonium, and alkylsulfonium cations, were applied to increase the efficiency of sulfur vulcanization and to improve the performance of NR composites. Thus, the influence of ILs on the vulcanization of NR compounds, as well as crosslink density and physical properties of NR vulcanizates, including tensile properties, thermal stability, and resistance to thermo-oxidative aging was explored. The activity of ILs seems to be strongly dependent on their cation. Pyrrolidinium and ammonium ILs effectively supported the vulcanization, reducing the optimal vulcanization time and temperature of NR compounds and increasing the crosslink density of the vulcanizates. Consequently, vulcanizates with these ILs exhibited higher tensile strength than the benchmark without IL. On the other hand, sulfonium ILs reduced the torque increment owing to the lower crosslinking degree of elastomer but significantly improved the resistance of NR composites to thermo-oxidation. Thus, TFSI ILs can be used to align the curing behavior and performance of NR composites for particular applications.Nitrogen nutrition in plants is a key determinant in crop productivity. The availability of nitrogen nutrients in the soil, both inorganic (nitrate and ammonium) and organic (urea and free amino acids), highly differs and influences plant physiology, growth, metabolism, and root morphology. Deciphering this multifaceted scenario is mandatory to improve the agricultural sustainability. In root cells, specific proteins located at the plasma membrane play key roles in the transport and sensing of nitrogen forms. This review outlines the current knowledge regarding the biochemical and physiological aspects behind the uptake of the individual nitrogen forms, their reciprocal interactions, the influences on root system architecture, and the relations with other proteins sustaining fundamental plasma membrane functionalities, such as aquaporins and H+-ATPase. This topic is explored starting from the information achieved in the model plant Arabidopsis and moving to crops in agricultural soils. Moreover, the main contributions provided by proteomics are described in order to highlight the goals and pitfalls of this approach and to get new hints for future studies.

Patients with Lynch syndrome are at increased risk of gastric and duodenal cancer. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy surveillance is generally proposed, even though little data are available on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in these patients. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the prevalence and incidence of gastrointestinal lesions following upper gastrointestinal endoscopy examination in Lynch patients.

A large, multicentre cohort of 172 patients with a proven germline mutation in one of the mismatch repair genes and at least one documented upper gastrointestinal endoscopy screening was assessed. Detailed information was collected on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy findings and the outcome of endoscopic follow-up.

Seventy neoplastic gastrointestinal lesions were diagnosed in 45 patients (26%) out of the 172 patients included. The median age at diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal lesions was 54 years. The prevalence of cancer at initial upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was 5% and the prevalence of precancerous lesions was 12%.
