patients with advanced gastric/gastroesophageal junction carcinoma.

The ageing of people with intellectual disabilities, with associated morbidity like dementia, calls for new types of care. Person-centred methods may support care staff in providing this, an example being Dementia Care Mapping (DCM). DCM has been shown to be feasible in ID-care. We examined the experiences of ID-professionals in using DCM.

We performed a mixed-methods study, using quantitative data from care staff (N=136) and qualitative data (focus-groups, individual interviews) from care staff, group home managers and DCM-in-intellectual disabilities mappers (N=53).

DCM provided new insights into the behaviours of clients, enabled professional reflection and gave new knowledge and skills regarding dementia and person-centred care. Selleck Ipilimumab Appreciation of DCM further increased after the second cycle of application.

DCM is perceived as valuable in ID-care. Further assessment is needed of its effectiveness in ID-care with respect to quality of care, staff-client interactions and job performance.

Multiparametric MRI provides complementary information for the diagnosis and management of multiple myeloma (MM).

To evaluate the association of prognostic factors of MM and parameters derived from intravoxel-incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) and multiecho (ME) Dixon.

Retrospective.

In all, 78 MM patients.

T

-weighted turbo spin-echo sequences (TSE), IVIM-DWI, ME 3D gradient echo sequence with multistep adaptive fitting at 3T.

The region of interest (ROI) on the vertebral body was independently measured on four parametric maps (D

and perfusion fraction [f], and proton-density fat-fraction [Ff] maps) by two readers. All patients were categorized into three groups based on the International Staging System (ISS).

Three groups were compared using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post-hoc tests with Bonferroni correction. Logistic regression analysis was performed to predict the advancement of disease (early vs. advanced). Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to.

3 TECHNICAL EFFICACY STAGE 5.This year Singapore National Institute of Chemistry (SNIC) is celebrating its golden jubilee (1970-2020). Wiley-VCH has been a steadfast partner accompanying the rapid rise of chemistry research in Singapore. In celebration of this golden jubilee, we highlight 50 significant papers published in Angewandte Chemie by scholars currently based in Singapore, covering the widest possible spectrum of chemistry research.

This study explored the clinical effects of WeChat-based peri-operative care on parents of children with congenital megacolon.

Participants were randomly divided into WeChat group and telephone group. This study explored parents' knowledge of the care of children with megacolon, the follow-up rate of children, post-operative defaecation function and complications.

WeChat group scored better in nursing knowledge than telephone group, and the difference was statistically significant. The lost follow-up rate in WeChat group was lower than that in telephone group, and the difference was statistically significant. Post-operative defaecation was also better in the WeChat group than in the phone group. Most complications in the phone group were significantly higher than those in the WeChat group.

Peri-operative care for parents of children with megacolon through WeChat can effectively enhance the level of parental care knowledge, improve defaecation, reduce the occurrence of certain complications and reduce lost follow-up.

Repeated transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) eventually leads to either deteriorated hepatic reserve or TACE refractoriness. Switching to molecular targeted agents after TACE requires preservation of hepatic reserve. This study aimed to investigate the predictive factors associated with early deterioration of hepatic reserve by repeated TACE prior to refractoriness.

Ninety-three patients with intermediate-stage HCC who underwent TACE as the first-line treatment and had a Child-Pugh class A hepatic reserve were retrospectively analyzed. The time to Child-Pugh class deterioration (TTCPD), defined as the duration from initial TACE to the diagnosis of Child-Pugh class B or C prior to TACE refractoriness, was assessed. Patients who progressed to TACE refractoriness prior to Child-Pugh class deterioration were censored at TACE refractoriness.

The radiological response to initial TACE was assessed as responders and non-responders in 59 (63.4%) and 34 (36.6%) patients, respectively. The median TTCPD was 40.6months in all patients. The hepatic reserve in 31 (33.3%) patients deteriorated to Child-Pugh class B or C prior to TACE refractoriness. In the multivariate analysis, non-response to initial TACE, albumin-bilirubin grade 2, and non-selective TACE were identified as independent predictors associated with a shortened TTCPD. The TTCPD was significantly shorter in the non-responders than in the responders to initial TACE (median, 19.6 vs. 55.9months; P < 0.001).

Failure to respond to initial TACE was a predictive factor for early deterioration of hepatic reserve prior to TACE refractoriness in intermediate-stage HCC patients with repeated TACE.

Previous studies have demonstrated that health behaviours may be one of the major mechanisms underlying the relationship between personality and health outcomes. Such health behaviours may be established by consciousness toward one's health that include health literacy. Thus, this study aimed to explore the relationship between health literacy and its correlates, including personality, among community-dwelling older adults.

This was a cross-sectional study with 683 older individuals (aged 60-84 years; 326 men and 357 women). A questionnaire was used to assess health literacy, personality, socioeconomic status, health status, and lifestyles. Health literacy was measured using the Communicative and Critical Health Literacy Scale, which is a self-report questionnaire comprising five items assessing degrees of health literacy. The Big Five personality traits were measured using the Japanese version of the Ten-Item Personality Inventory. Other variables were measured as factors associated with health literacy, including age, gender, education, subjective economic status, social isolation, chronic diseases, functional capacity, smoking and drinking.
