How to Program a MERCEDES Truck Key

Our parts department is happy to help you, whether you require replacement of batteries or if your key no longer functions. Keep in mind that replacement keys must be ordered and synchronized in the dealership in person. This is to ensure the safety and security of your vehicle. Only you or a person authorised by you may make an appointment for this service.

Keys

Some people have claimed you can change the programming of your Mercedes key. This isn't the case. The key is programmed "for the duration of its life" and once it's programmed to one car it will never work with another. The metal beam of the key has a distinct profile that is what the Mercedes system detects and only recognizes. A new key from Mercedes is a different shape and won't work with the system.

The dealership will need to purchase a new, compatible key for your vehicle from Mercedes and they don't keep them on hand at the parts department. You will need to have the original title or registration and an official driver's license or passport, or identity card to present when you pick the key. This helps to verify that you are the owner of the vehicle and not someone who is trying to steal it.

If you have an authorized representative or delegate to pick up the keys on your behalf, they will need to provide all the above documentation along with a signed and dated letter of authorization from the owner. The authorized representative or delegate should bring the vehicle into the dealership to retrieve keys. Remotes

In some MERCEDES models the remote key comes with an interactive touch screen that displays virtual buttons.
