Abnormal intravesical pressure created by partial bladder outlet obstruction (PBOO) triggered the progression from chronic inflammation to fibrosis, initiating structural and functional alterations of bladder. To elucidate the underlying mechanisms of contraction and inflammatory response, we investigated the isolated human bladder smooth muscle cells (hBSMC) under pathological hydrostatic pressure (HP) mimicking the in vivo PBOO condition.

hBSMCs were subjected to HP of 200 cm H

O to explore the contraction and inflammatory cytokineexpression of hBSMC treated with β-adrenoceptors (ADRBs) and/or autophagy signaling pathway agonists and/or antagonists.

We showed that pathological HP induced the release of the proinflammatory cytokines, including monocyte chemotactic protein-1, regulated upon activation normal T cell expressed and secreted factor, and interleukin-6. HP downregulated ADRB2 and ADRB3 expression, which was consistent with the results of the PBOO rat model. ADRB2 or autophagy activation rep provide a theoretical basis for potential therapeutic strategies for patients with PBOO.

In the 2018 ATN framework, Alzheimer's neurodegenerative biomarkers comprised cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) total tau,

F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography, and brain atrophy. We aimed to assess the clinical outcomes of having discordant Alzheimer's neurodegenerative biomarkers.

A total of 721 non-demented individuals from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database were included and then further categorized into concordant-negative, discordant, and concordant-positive groups. Demographic distributions of the groups were compared. Longitudinal changes in clinical outcomes and risk of conversion were assessed using linear mixed-effects models and multivariate Cox proportional hazard models, respectively.

Discordant group was intermediate to concordant-negative and concordant-positive groups in terms of APOE ε4 positivity, CSF amyloid-beta, and phosphorylated tau. Compared with concordant-negative group, discordant group deteriorated faster in cognitive scores (Mini-Mental State E of cognitive function which is intermediate between concordant-negative and concordant-positive. Identification of discordant cases would provide insights into intervention and new therapy approaches, particularly in A+T+ individuals. Moreover, this work may be a complement to the ATN scheme.Risk curves describe the relationship between cumulative probability and magnitude of effect and thus express far more information than risk quotients. However, their adoption has remained limited in ecological risk assessment. Therefore, we developed the Ecotoxicity Risk Calculator (ERC) to simplify the derivation of risk curves, which can be used to inform risk management decisions. Case studies are presented with crop protection products, highlighting the utility of the ERC at incorporating various data sources, including surface water modeling estimates, monitoring observations, and species sensitivity distributions. Systemic hypertension (SH) is a persistent and pathological increase in arterial blood pressure (BP). see more Chronic SH leads to an increase in aortic (Ao) stiffness, and measuring Ao elasticity is useful for estimating Ao stiffness in humans. Currently, no literature in veterinary medicine describes noninvasive assessment of abdominal Ao elasticity in dogs with SH.

Compare ultrasonographic-derived abdominal Ao strain (AoSt) between hypertensive (HT) and normotensive (NT) dogs.

Fifty privately-owned dogs with clinical signs, conditions, or both potentially associated with SH.

Prospective observational case-control study. Aortic stiffness was estimated by calculating AoSt as follows AoSt = ([AoDs - AoDd]/AoDd) × 100, where AoDs and AoDd are the Ao diameter in systole and in diastole, respectively. Aortic stiffness was calculated from 2 different Ao transverse sections, the first caudal to the left renal artery (K_AoSt), and the second cranial to the external iliac arteries (I_AoSt).

Thirty-two dogs were included in the HT group and 18 in the NT group. Both K_AoSt and I_AoSt in HT dogs were significantly lower (P < .05) than in NT dogs (7.4 ± SD 3.6) vs 10.3 (±3.8) and 5.7 (interquartile range [IQR], 3.9-7.5) vs 8.1 (IQR, 7-10.3), respectively. Only K_AoSt was significantly influenced by age.

Ultrasonographic Ao elasticity assessment was feasible to compare HT and NT dogs. Results indicated that K_AoSt and I_AoSt indices can be used to assess SH-related Ao stiffness, especially when indirect BP measurements are inconsistent or inaccurate. Additional studies to assess the AoSt in healthy dogs of various ages are needed.

Nurses are one of the population groups with the highest prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). At many sites, musculoskeletal symptoms (MS) represent a major health-care burden, adversely affecting nurses' quality of life and giving rise to mental health issues.

This study measured the prevalence of multi-body-site (two or more anatomical sites) musculoskeletal symptoms (MMS), and the association between MMS, a number of demographic and work characteristics, psychological distress, and the quality of life among district hospital nurses.

A cross-sectional study was performed with 1179 nurses in Haiphong City using three questionnaires the Modified Nordic; Quality of Life Enjoyment and Satisfaction Short Form (Q-LES-Q-SF); and the Kessler Psychological Distress Questionnaire (K6).

Women have a higher MMS prevalence than men (57.1% in women vs 37.6% in men, P<.001). Having a higher number of anatomical sites of MS appears to be associated with a worse quality of life among nurses. Linear regression analysis found a number of other factors negatively associated with the nurses' quality of life gender (female), age (50-60years old vs 19-29years old), and psychological distress.
