The mLFDA was significantly more valgus in the LFC group. mMPTA was not different between MFC and LFC groups. There was no significant correlation between degree of mechanical axis deviation and lesion size. CONCLUSION In this cohort, two-thirds of patients with symptomatic OCD lesions had associated mechanical axis deviation. Lesion location correlated with mechanical axis deviation (LFC lesions were associated with a deformity in the distal femur). Degree of deformity was not correlated with lesion size. Mechanical axis deviation may play a role in OCD pathogenesis. These data do not allow analysis of the role of mechanical axis deviation in causation or prognosis of OCD lesions, but surgeons treating OCD should be aware of this common association.BACKGROUND Ankle and lower leg injuries are very common in sports, and numerous studies have discussed their diagnosis and management. Our study differs in that we report lower leg injuries in professional baseball players spanning the 2011-2016 seasons by utilizing a comprehensive injury surveillance system developed by Major League Baseball (MLB). PURPOSE To determine the injury characteristics of ankle and lower leg injuries in professional baseball players during the 2011-2016 seasons by utilizing the MLB injury surveillance system. STUDY DESIGN Descriptive epidemiology study. METHODS Our study is a descriptive epidemiological evaluation through a retrospective review of injury data from the MLB Health and Injury Tracking System (HITS) since its implementation in 2010. We included any professional baseball player (MLB and Minor League Baseball [MiLB]) who was identified as having an ankle or lower leg injury between January 1, 2011, and February 28, 2017. RESULTS Over the study period, there were a total of 4756 injuries, of which 763 (16%) occurred in MLB players and 3993 (84%) occurred in MiLB players. The mean number of days missed for all players was 27.8 ± 141.4 days, with a median of 3 days. From 2011 through 2016, it was estimated that there were 414,912 athlete exposures (AEs) in MLB and 1,796,607 AEs in MiLB. Of the 4756 injuries recorded, 550 (12%) took place during the MLB regular season, and 3320 (70%) took place during the MiLB regular season. Injuries in MLB players, however, were 1.7 times more likely to require surgery (P less then .001). (R)-HTS-3 cell line Additionally, rates of injury to the lower leg were stratified by position, with infield players experiencing injuries at a 1.6 times greater rate than any other position (P less then .001). CONCLUSION In conclusion, this is the only epidemiological study to focus primarily on ankle and lower leg injuries in professional baseball players, utilizing an injury surveillance system developed by MLB.BACKGROUND Arthroscopic partial meniscectomy is one of the most common procedures in orthopaedic surgery. The patient acceptable symptomatic state (PASS), which defines a level of symptoms above which patients consider themselves well, remains to be well-defined in this population. PURPOSE Using an anchor-based approach, our goal was to determine the 1-year PASS for the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) Subjective Knee Form, the Western Ontario Meniscal Evaluation Tool (WOMET), and the Marx Activity Scale (MAS) in patients who were treated with partial knee meniscectomy. STUDY DESIGN Case series; Level of evidence, 4. METHODS A consecutive series of patients with knee meniscal tears and a Kellgren-Lawrence grade of 0 to 2 treated with arthroscopic partial meniscectomy were eligible. The KOOS (0-100), IKDC (0-100), WOMET (0-100), and MAS (0-16) were administered at baseline and 12 months postoperatively. An external anchor question at 1 yoms (odds ratio [OR], 2.808; P = .047), IKDC (OR, 4.735; P = .006), and WOMET (OR, 2.985; P = .036). Age, sex, and cartilage status were not significantly related to the odds of achieving the PASS for any of the patient-reported outcome measures. CONCLUSION These findings allow researchers and clinicians to determine whether partial meniscectomy is meaningful to patients at the individual level and will be helpful for responder analysis in future trials related to the treatment of meniscal abnormality.BACKGROUND When a harvested hamstring autograft is deemed by the surgeon to be of inadequate diameter, the options include using the small graft, using another autograft from a different site, augmenting with an allograft (hybrid graft), using a different configuration of the graft (eg, 5- or 6-stranded), or abandoning the autograft and using allograft alone. A small graft diameter is associated with a higher revision risk, and using another autograft site includes added harvest-site morbidity; therefore, use of a hybrid graft or an allograft alone may be appealing alternative options. Revision risk for hybrid graft compared with soft tissue allograft is not known. PURPOSE To evaluate the risk for aseptic revision surgery after primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) using a soft tissue allograft compared with ACLR using a hybrid graft in patients 25 years and younger. STUDY DESIGN Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. METHODS Data from a health care system's ACLR registry were used to identifyision compared with hybrid graft after ACLR. Future studies evaluating the indications for using hybrid grafts and the optimal hybrid graft diameter is needed.BACKGROUND In young athletes, patient-reported activity level is frequently used to determine return to the same level of sport after treatment. PURPOSE To evaluate the validity and score distributions of the Hospital for Special Surgery Pediatric Functional Activity Brief Scale (HSS Pedi-FABS) compared with the Tegner Activity Level Scale (Tegner) in pediatric athletes. STUDY DESIGN Cohort study (Diagnosis); Level of evidence, 2. METHODS A retrospective review of 517 consecutive youth athletes who came to a sports medicine specialty clinic for a knee evaluation was performed. Patients completed the HSS Pedi-FABS, Tegner, and a sports participation survey before evaluation. Scores were compared with reported hours, days, and weeks of participation in sports as well as level of competition. Floor or ceiling effects were identified, and finally, the means and distributions of scores in the 8 most common primary sports were analyzed. RESULTS A total of 398 participants (54.0% female) with an average age of 14.5 years (range, 10.
