Direct pulp capping (DPC) is an established method in which the exposed pulp is coated with a suitable material to prevent further damage and to help its repair and healing. Different proposed materials may have different impact on pulp response during this treatment.

The purpose of this study was to compare the response of human dental pulp after DPC with calcium-enriched mixture (CEM), mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) cement, and Biodentine.

In this clinical trial study, class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of 30 human premolar teeth, until the pulps were mechanically exposed. Then, teeth were randomly pulp capped with MTA, CEM cement and Biodentine, followed by resin modified glass ionomer filling. The fourth group was the control group (n= 10), in which the teeth were extracted without any prior intervention. Six weeks after the intervention, the teeth were extracted and prepared for histological evaluation in terms of the type and degree of pulp inflammation, dentin bridge formatiogroups, pulp showed greater inflammation compared to CEM cement and MTA. The results of this study suggested that MTA and CEM cement performed better when employed as the direct pulp capping material.

Dental caries is a global health issue, which imposes a great deal on individuals and the community.

The main purpose of this study was to identify the dental caries status and/or DMFT/dmft data and its related factors in Iran.

In addition, these trend were higher inres, practical educational programs, and modern therapeutic methods are needed to improve oral health status.Background Neonatal sepsis is the third leading cause of neonatal mortality, behind prematurity and intrapartum-related complications. The main objectives of this study are to assess the proportion of sepsis in preterm newborns and identify the etiologic agents and their antibiotic sensitivity patterns. Methods A longitudinal observational study was done from July 2016 to May 2018. Whenever clinical diagnosis of sepsis was made, blood cultures and antibiotic susceptibility tests were done. Result We did 690 blood cultures, 255 (36.9%) showing bacterial growth. The most commonly isolated bacteria were Klebsiella species 78 (36.6%), Coagulase negative Staphylococcus 42 (19.7%) and Staphylococcus aureus 39 (18.3%). Gram-positive bacteria showed high resistance to penicillin (98.9%) and ceftriaxone (91.3%) whereas Gram-negative bacteria were highly resistant to gentamicin (83.2%) and ceftriaxone (83.2%). Conclusion Resistance to the more commonly used antibiotics such as ampicillin and gentamycin was very high, necessitating reconsideration of the empiric use of these antibiotics.Objectives Aging-in-community has been a preferred way to aging. G418 in vivo and compares remain independence (RI) and neighborhood social cohesiveness (NSC) among three programs promoting aging-in-community (AIC). #link# Methods Older adults from three AIC programs were surveyed a village program, a county neighborhood lunch program, and a university-based lifelong learning program. Previously validated RI (3-item) and NSC (4-items) measures were used. Results Mean age was 72.4 (SD = 8.68) years (n = 289). Both the RI and NSC scales showed satisfactory reliabilities, with Cronbach's alphas of .81 and .88, respectively. Analyses showed significant inter-group differences on both RI and NSC. After controlling for demographics, regressions showed inter-group differences remained for RI, while disappeared for NSC. Education level had an inverse relationship with RI, whereas married status had a positive relationship with NSC scores. Discussion Findings call attentions to RI among higher education and NSC among single older adults for community-based services and programs promoting aging-in-community.The rapid growth of the field of time-resolved and ultrafast electron microscopy has been accompanied by the active development of new instrumentation. Recently, time-resolved microscopes equipped with a field emission gun have been introduced, demonstrating great potential for experiments that benefit from the high brightness and coherence of the electron source. Here, we describe a straightforward design of a time-resolved transmission electron microscope with a Schottky field emission gun and characterize its performance. At the same time, our design gives us the flexibility to alternatively operate the instrument as if it was equipped with a flat metal photocathode. We can, thus, effectively choose to sacrifice brightness in order to obtain pulses with vastly larger numbers of electrons than from the emitter if for a given application the number of electrons is a crucial figure of merit. We believe that our straightforward and flexible design will be of great practical relevance to researchers wishing to enter the field.
