e immunotherapy cohort only, suggesting it might be a useful tool for identifying patients unlikely to benefit from first-line single-agent pembrolizumab. In addition, the prognostic stratification in terms of PFS and OS was significantly more pronounced among the pembrolizumab-treated patients.

report primary results from the first multicentrerandomised trial evaluating induction chemotherapy prior to trimodality therapy in patients with oesophageal or gastro-oesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. Notably, recent data from a single-institution randomised trial reported that induction chemotherapy prolonged overall survival (OS) in patients with well/moderately differentiated tumours.

In this phase 2 trial (28 centres in the U.S. NCI-sponsored North Central Cancer Treatment Group [Alliance]), trimodality-eligible patients (T

) were randomised to receive induction (docetaxel, oxaliplatin, capecitabine; Arm A) or no induction chemotherapy (Arm B) followed by oxaliplatin/5-fluorouracil/radiation and subsequent surgery. The primary endpoint was the rate of pathologic complete response (pathCR). Secondary/exploratory endpoints were OS and disease-free survival (DFS).

Of 55 patients evaluable for the primary endpoint, the pathCR rate was 28.6% (8/28) in A versus 40.7% (11/27) in B (P=.34). s associated with longer median OS, particularly among patients with well/moderately differentiated tumours. These findings may inform further development of curative-intent trials in this disease.

This study evaluated the association between diet quality, assessed by the Diet Quality Index for Adolescents adapted for Brazilians (DQIA-BR), and cardiometabolic markers in adolescents.

The DQIA-BR and cardiometabolic markers were assessed in 36 956 Brazilian adolescents (12-17 y old) enrolled in the Study of Cardiovascular Risks in Adolescents (ERICA), a national school-based cross-sectional multicenter study in Brazil. For analyses, the sample was stratified by sex and nutritional status. Multiple linear regressions were used to investigate the association between DQIA-BR and cardiometabolic markers (total cholesterol, HDL-c, LDL-c, triglycerides, fasting glucose and HOMA-IR). Adjusted models were constructed with two input levels of covariates. The first model was adjusted for sex, age, and socioeconomic status; in the second model, total energy intake, physical activity, and sedentary behavior were included.

A higher DQIA-BR score was associated with a better cardiometabolic profile in girls with or adolescents, especially girls, with overweight/obesity.

This study assesses the association of the phase angle (PhA) with the metabolic profile in adults of both sexes.

This is a cross-sectional, population-based study including 949 adults 20 to 59 y of age living in the Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil - urban zone. The PhA was measured based on electrical bioimpedance analysis. The metabolic profile comprised the following components waist circumference, glucose, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), non-HDL-C, triglycerides, C-reactive protein, homeostatic model assessment index-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), serum uric acid, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure. Linear regression models (crude and adjusted) were used to determine the association between each independent and dependent variable; statistical significance was analyzed at 5%.

Multiple analyses showed that the increase in the values of waist circumference (β -0.01; 95%CI -0.03; -0.01) represented lower values in the PhA. For the glucose, non-HDL-C, triglycerides, CRP, HOMA-IR and uric acid there was no association with PhA in the adjusted models. .

Low PhA was directly associated with grater values of the waist circumference, even after adjustments were made in the sociodemographic, lifestyle variables and body mass index; this outcome suggests that PhA is a promising cardiometabolic profile biomarker in adults.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged and rapidly spread worldwide. Several countries have imposed lockdown and isolation in attempt to mitigate viral spread. However, social isolation has a negative effect on psychological aspects, increasing stress, fear, anxiety, anger and emotional disturbance, as well as affecting sleep pattern and the practice of physical activity. SB 204990 solubility dmso Negative emotions and lifestyle changes trigger overeating, consequently affecting dietary practices. The aim of this study was to verify the prevalence of lifestyle factors (i.e., sleep time/quality and practice of physical exercise), eating behavior dimensions, chronotype, and association with dietary practices (planning, domestic organization, food choice, ways of eating) in home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic in São Paulo, Brazil.

This cross-sectional study was conducted between April 27 and May 25, 2020. An anonymous online questionnaire (Microsoft Forms) was used for data collection by the snowball method. We verifie 0.001; η

Eating behavior, physical exercise, sleep, and social factors can be important predictors for dietary practices during COVID-19 social confinement. Longitudinal studies in Brazil are needed to confirm these findings.

Expression of CEACAM6 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) associated with tumor progression and metastatic condition via Src/FAK signaling pathway. We established three anti-CEACAM6 antibodies with valences, which were designed to be monomeric sdAb, bivalent sdAb (2Ab), and tetravalent sdAb (4Ab). The anti-CEACAM6 antibodies can be used to target CEACAM6 overexpressing NSCLC. Anti-CEACAM6 antibodies, sdAb, 2Ab and 4Ab, were modified with different valency via protein engineering. sdAb and multivalent sdAbs (2Ab & 4Ab) were expressed and purified from E.coli and CHO cells, respectively. We compared the effect of anti-CEACAM6 antibodies with doxorubicin in NSCLC cell line both in vitro and in vivo. The 4Ab showed significant effect on cell viability. In addition, A549 cells treated with 2Ab and 4Ab inhibited the invasion and migration. In western blot, the 2Ab and 4Ab showed significant inhibition of phospho FAK domain Ty397 that is essential for activation of Src kinase family.
