This is the first report documenting the shifting of crop calendar practice at the present and future scenario of O3 concentration under agro-ecological conditions in the tropical region of India.Environmental pollution by paint-based heavy metals have been continued to be a great concern. Thus, this study was aimed at investigating the levels of selected heavy metals (Ni, Cd, Cr, Zn, and Pb) in oil-based paint samples being manufactured and sold in Ethiopia. An optimized acid digestion procedure using conc. HNO3, conc. HClO4, and 30% H2O2 mixture by volume ratio of 341 mL, respectively, for 2 h at 200 °C were used for paint samples digestion, and the contents of heavy metals were assayed by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy. The 13 out of 14 (92.9%) analyzed paint samples had contained Pb > 90 mg/kg with the highest content of 51,200 mg/kg (dry weight) in the orange colored paint. Likewise, the levels of Cr, Ni, and Zn obtained were ranged from 43.75 to 50.00, 60.02 to 128.81, and 323.69 to 1102.16 mg/kg (dry weight), respectively, while Cd was not detected in all the paint samples. Generally, the mean contents of heavy metals in the investigated paint samples have followed the order Pb > > Cr > Zn > Ni, demonstrating the occurrence of higher lead metal content. The elevated levels of heavy metals detected in the oil-based paint samples could be attributed to the continued usage of these metals in different form during paint manufacture. On the bases of the findings, a strict monitoring and evaluation of paints being produced in Ethiopia has been recommended so that the manufacturers comply with the national (policy issue) and/or international regulations on the levels of toxic metals in paints to ensure consumers safety. An air sampling study was conducted to evaluate personal formaldehyde exposures in a group of office workers spread across five geographical locations in the USA. Passive badge samples for formaldehyde were collected on three participants in each location, as well as in the office and home indoor microenvironments of each participant over 3 individual days. Median personal 24-h formaldehyde concentrations ranged from 9.9 to 18 μg/m3. Personal 24-h formaldehyde concentrations in one location were significantly higher than concentrations measured in the other four locations; no significant differences existed between any of the other locations. The participants in this study spent an average of 53% of their daily time in their homes, 36% at their office, and 11% in other indoor and outdoor locations. A comparison of measured 24-h personal formaldehyde concentrations and a model of average exposure based upon measured concentrations in the indoor microenvironments suggested that both the home and office formaldehyde concentrations were a strong predictor (R2 = 0.88) of overall personal exposure. The data from this study are representative of office workers in urban environments and can be used as background formaldehyde exposure levels (in the absence of specific sources) for both occupational and nonoccupational exposure assessments. The occurrence and persistence of pharmaceutical products (PPs) in the environment have recently been well-documented and are a major concern for public health. Their incidence in aquatic ecosystems is the result of their direct release without any prior treatment or insufficient wastewater treatment. Therefore, an efficient and safe posttreatment process for removing PPs must be developed. In this study, we focused on the ability of photocatalysis or combined photocatalysis and biodegradation to effectively and safely remove diclofenac (DCF) and its by-products from water. The heterogeneous photocatalysis system was based on bio-sourced activated carbon obtained from Argania spinosa tree nutshells and Degussa P25 titanium dioxide (ACP-TiO2), and biodegradation involved Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Toxicity tests were conducted with zebrafish embryos to evaluate the applicability of the treatment processes. The results showed that photocatalytic treatment with 0.1 mg/L of ACP-TiO2 9% for 7.5 h is sufficient to eliminate DCF (50 mg L-1) and its by-products from water. Low levels of malformation ( less then  20%) were detected in zebrafish embryos treated with photocatalyzed DCF solutions at 1, 5, and 7 mg L-1 after 4 days of exposure. After 3 h of incubation, P. aeruginosa was found to reduce the toxicity of DCF (10 mg L-1) photocatalyzed for 2 and 4 h. Additional studies should be conducted to elucidate the biodegradation mechanism. The environmental stress due to massive CO2 emissions is a critical issue for scholars and policymakers. Many studies have discussed various determinants of environmental pollution both from theoretical and empirical perspectives. However, how governance influences the nexus between economic growth and CO2 emissions is rarely studied. Hence this study investigates the relationship between economic growth, governance and CO2 emissions within the framework of the Environmental Kuznets Curve for five high CO2 emission countries over 1996-2017. Empirical results from the panel data estimation methods reflect that measures of governance influence emission levels differently in high CO2 emission countries. GSK1016790A Overall, political, economic and institutional governance enhance environmental quality. According to the results, provision of good governance needs to exercise effective measures to enhance and protect environmental quality.Insecticide chlorpyrifos (CPF) with increased oxidative stress, structural destruction, and hemostasis of testicular tissue leads to male infertility. The present study investigated the protective effect of exercise (Exe) and eugenol supplementation (Sup) on CPF-induced testicular spermatogenic disorders in male rats. In this experimental study, 21 adult male albino rats were divided into seven groups, control (Co 6 weeks), CPF (6 weeks), Co + Oil (2 weeks healthy food and 4 weeks oil), Co + Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO 6 weeks), CPF + Sup (2 weeks CPF and 4 weeks CPF + Sup), CPF + Exe (2 weeks CPF and 4 weeks CPF + Exe), and CPF + Exe + Sup (2 weeks CPF and 4 weeks CPF + Exe + Sup) group. All treatments were done intraperitoneally (5 days a week). Exe groups were subjected to run at moderate exercise intensity for 5 days per week over 6 weeks. DMSO groups were administered to the equal volume of vehicle for 6 consecutive weeks. Finally, the animals were sacrificed with Co2 gas and then alterations in testicular histology and sperm parameters were evaluated.
